Got an offer for penthouse suite at mirage but if it's run down/dirty like the lower end mlife place, i'll probably pass. Thanks.

Pretty much the opposite of this. TI has gone sooo far downhill since it was sold. And the pool is atrocious, especially compared to Mirage. Mirage isn't as good as it used to be, but they redid all of their rooms a few years back. We usually stay in what used to be the Tower Deluxe rooms, which are standard size with bigger bathrooms. Bonus there is you get the private elevator bank.

I stayed at TI a year ago and it was pretty good and at $79/nt a great deal. both the mirage and TI were redone around 2007 wih the itty bitty lcd screens and are be a bit dated by now. If I want a nice pool I'd stay at MGM

Yes, Mirage and TI were once sister properties (although Mirage was always nicer). I agree with the above poster though that TI has gone downhill ever since Ruffin bought it. Just look at the atmosphere overall- they've totally white-trashed the place, while MGM has been investing in Mirage. They're on different paths.

Ballys vs TI. I am near decided on Ballys as it works out a little bit cheaper.

Is there any point declaring that there will be three people in the room as it works out €100 more than two people?

I tend to agree.
Stayed at TI twice.
This year the whole floor smelled of sewage...

Ballys over TI. Put me in the 'no thanks' camp when it comes to TI. TI doesn't know what it wants to be, and you sure don't want to be part of it.

Sorry but I totally disagree about TI....speaking about the hotel/restaurant experience only, not talking about the casino. I stay at TI every year, sometimes more the once and I was just there in late January. The location is great if you want to play poker at the V or have a trade show on that end of the Strip. The trade show I go to every January is at the V. Every time I've been very happy with the room and I've always a gotten a great view when I asked for it and an upgraded room when I tipped $20. Very nice (not swank), clean room with a great view, excellent access to the V and the Walgreens across the street at a great price.....I can't find a problem with it at all. Maybe I always just get lucky but the rooms are nice. The restaurants aren't fancy but the food has always been very good.

Now when it comes to the atmosphere and casino experience....I've never found it dirty or bad, just not anywhere near as big, fancy or impressive as most of the bigger properties. Coming from the South and being used to the casinos in Louisiana, Tunica and Oklahoma, I guess it doesn't take much to please me.lol I so agree they seem to attract a lot of people attending trade shows and a lower clientele over all but it's no where near the lower class clientele of the Quad, Flamingo or folks I've seen around Bally's.

If you are looking for a casino/hotel property where you can stay and never have a reason to leave...ya TI isn't it. But if you want a good location with nice rooms, good prices and a good view, I say go for it.

The last room I had at TI was in the corner of the top floor with views of strip on one side and of the pool on the other it was awesome. And I reserved a basic room, no $20 trick, at $79ish a night for a week.

I'm also in the TI no-way camp.

Quick rant on Harrah's, stayed there for 1 night as a friend was staying there. The rooms have this stupid motion-detector on the A/C so it turns off when you leave the room. That concept is fine, but guess what, there is no motion when you sleep so the damn a/c turns off and the room heats up to 77. Just awful.

I recall that someone posted a clever trick on how to fool the detector. But alas, I don't remember what it was.

Motel6 is even worse. They don't have motion detectors. They have these "energy saver" units plugged into the a/c's. They turn the a/c off from 10am to 7 or 8pm. I guess they figure most guests won't be in their rooms at these times. Some of us like to sleep a little later than 10am

My room literally got up to 92 degrees one day.

I did some research online. The "energy saver" devices were part of the 2009 "stimulus" package Obama did. That's awesome. My tax dollars go to a device that prevents me from using an air conditioner in the summer in Las Vegas. Stuff like that makes paying taxes even more painful.

Mirage recently upgrade the top 3 levels of rooms (Resort Tower King, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites) so you should be good to go.

My cousin usually stays in the 1 bedroom suites at Mirage and her and her husband love it. But the husband has been BFF with a host there for like 20 years so they always get it comped.

A bit of TI defense.

It depends on what you're looking for. The location is great. The pool is lousy - about a third of the size it should be for the property. We just stayed in a smallish suite for three nights comped, and the room was clean and the a/c worked. Check in staff was pleasant, and we got into the room at noon, which is always nice. Sports book just redone, with nice TV's. Poker room tiny, not a lot of action - but the Venetian is just across the street. Dining options pretty limited - their steak house is just standard, and I'm not a Gilley's fan. You might be.

It's a cut well below the Wynn/Bellagio/Venetian - seems about the same as the Mirage, maybe a bit less fancy, especially given the recent remodel. I hate Harrahs with a passion, so they're out of the question. If you're trying to impress your wife/woman, or want to splurge on a special occasion, it's not a good choice. If you stay at TI with the thought that you're going to club/play poker/dine elsewhere, it's more than OK, especially if you can get a comp/good rate.

+1 exactly it's comparable to the mirage, ph, paris paris, better than harrahs/flamingo/quad/bally's/excal worse than V Wynn,aria/cosmo bellagio but usually I can get better pricing I never do anything there I walk to V or wherever. If I need a pool I'd stay elsewhere.

I like the restaurants there. A fifty dollar steak in the steakhouse is... fifty dollars. An unusual value for Vegas. The quick grab pizza is okay. Kahunaville is a good value and they do UFC there. The buffet is okay I guess. I'm not a buffet person but they had some free buffet deal on one of my visits.

Agree with all the last few defenses of TI. I think it just depends on what you are looking for but to compare it to the Quad, Bally's, Excalibur etc isn't fair. It has a great location for people wanting to play or hang out at the V, Wynn, Encore etc. And seriously, the rooms are not crappy and outdated.

I'm actually a fan of Kahunaville. It can be loud and by Vegas standards, it might not be overly exciting but I've been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the meal for the price every time I've eaten there.

If you are looking for a V, Wynn, Aria experience, skip TI. If you are looking for something between those properties and the lower end....check them out.

Best place to stay with wife: Venetian, and it ain't even close. Poker-wise, two words: Deep. Stack.
Best cheap place to crash while waiting for your wife/friends to arrive: Excalibur. Don't stay downtown. I mean, c'mon. MGM is close and everything else is close enough.
Best value mid-strip: Flamingo. It's so "not bad" it should adopt that as its slogan. "Stay at the Flamingo! It's not that bad!" Across from Bellagio.
Best place to pretend to be James Bond: Wynn. Which also has by far the best rooms in which to have sex. Bond-like sex. Remote control curtains! Floor to ceiling windows! More on that later! Oddly, they seem to like poker players there.
Best place to stay if you like skinny, semi-skanky white chicks, especially if you tend to go to bed early: Hard Rock. Not close to poker at all, so be sure of your priorities.

They're nice, but still just a hotel room with a bed, tv, and some furniture. A hand job doesn't come with it or anything like that.
