Thanks for all the info. Very informative.

I'm still tanking for now, but I might splash for the Venetian/Palazzo. Is there any difference in the two?

Cheers guys

For those lifenitting it up the Flamingo pools are pretty dope and weren't ever too crowded when I was there.

Mirage: Tower rooms are key, $20 trick will get that upgrade. Pool can be crowded, but judicious scouting of chairs will alleviate this. (Pro tip: chairs by the Dolphin Bar get good sun, but shade too. This area is relatively uncrowded.)

Mirage is still ok, but has gone downhill somewhat on successive trips over the past few years. It's overall (rooms, pool, poker room, pit games, restaurants) barely passable imo. Not slummy like Riviera, but definitely a big step down from better resorts.

To clarify, not in the water.

Like in front of where the dolphins are in the morning before the exhibit opens.

No huge difference. Palazzo is a bit newer and a bit nicer, but otherwise the rooms are same layout with slightly different decor.

Best pool for quiet relaxation?

I am a late 30s male ISO of a pool to get some sun and relax with a cocktail. I would like to avoid pools where people want to listen to house music and show off their tattoos. I would like to avoid the Honey Boo Boo set as well. Loud mouth trashy families with young kids in tow.

Basically, I would like a sedate, relaxing pool where I can sip a margarita and relax. Does such a place exist in Las Vegas?

Vdara would be a good match for you.

Mirage was pretty much at the top of the heap when it was built. It got cheapened down a bit when MGM bought it, but the rooms got remodeled about 5 years ago. They looked pretty jazzy then, but must have some wear on them since.

Looking to grind cash games during the July 4th weekend.

What rooms have poker rates? I believe Venetian, Aria, and MGM do. Any idea how much? Looking to minimize costs. Prefer something walking distance to the strip.

Thanks!

Please search the forums before asking frequently-asked questions. Aside from the abundance of information available on the 2p2 forums, the hotels you mentioned also have websites. And phones.

How does he know if they are frequently asked if he's only been around a short time. New guy, same question, too bad.

Try this, all vegas poker is a good source but I'd also still check the casino/poker room itself as to how it works.

Everyone was new to the internet at one time, and I did say "please," yet his question is answered (the same way you answered it) in Post #1 of LVL FAQ.

Is Tropicana really 4 star? I'm asking because earlier in this thread people totally pooh-poohed it for being out of the way and comparable to Flamingo/Harrah's/Bally's.

Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone, much appreciated.

Has anyone tried the poker room rate at the Mirage? Trying to decide between Mirage/Aria/Venetian/MGM Grand. Going with a bud who wants to chill during the day so that is also a consideration.

You don't want to be stuck playing poker at the mirage.

Monte Carlo is next door to aria. So you can stay there cheaply and play at aria if you don't want to pay for aria.

Venetian, aria and MGM are all big properties and you will have lots to do

Do you care about pools / pool partied?

All of the properties you mentioned have air conditioning.

Seconded on not getting a room rate at a place with a bad/dead poker room (aka mirage).

My friend wants to go to a nice pool to chill at. Neither of us are interested in pool parties. Sounds like you guys are pushing Mirage off the list, although from a cursory review at AVP the poker room there seems to be doing okay.

That leaves us with Aria, Venetian, and MGM. We both want to workout, I've used the gym at Venetian and it is fantastic. Are the gyms at Aria and MGM any good?

My friend wants to play tourneys during the day, I plan on just grinding cash.

MGM has a nice pool. Never been to their gym.
The tournaments suck at MGM, pretty much crapshoots.

I'm going with a buddy from may 28th - june 11th using the poker rate. I have a Mlife card, but no credits on it. So just Sapphire. The normal rate would be $2352 (using the Mlife.com website). The poker rate we got was $1682. That's for 14 nights. It's around a 30% discounts.

Hope this helps you.

Mirage is great for late night drunk antics at low-stakes, same for Ballys if you play 1-2.

I know it comes at a bit of a Premium, but I stayed at Wynn last year and the pool is unbelievable, super chilled out and very relaxing... my girlfriend love it.

We're trying Aria this time around, I'm hoping the pool offers close to the Wynn's experience.

Bit late to this, but if you are looking for a hotel on the strip that has an active poker room and a good rate, there are really good deals at Planet Hollywood right now. I was able to lock up a Hollywood Hip 2 Queens room for avg. $65/night from June 22-30 (Sunday through following Monday). Just having a TR card gets you deals and then you can stack any promo codes on top of that.

At the very least, PH is better than staying at the Quad.
