Since when does the phrase "staying on a budget" mean "we can't afford it?"

Not everyone wants to spring for the Bellagio for $600/night (ldo exaggeration).
My wife and are planning multiple trips this year. We're sticking to a budget so that we're still contributing a good amount to our savings. Can't really believe I have to explain this to you people
this,,, these dudes think we have to go top of the line every time.. i have done more than my share of boutiques , but sometimes i just want somewhere i can be close to the action and am not looking for a 4 star and up.. with that being said..

the quad does suck... i booked it for one night, and these guys were right,, i almost booked it out of spite to prove it wrong, but yeah, the old imperial palace is not a good looking hotel at all.. i preferred the east wing of binions 100 times over.

lol. I've done the spite stay there too while waiting for a roomie to show up. The Palazzo never looked so good as that day after I checked out of IP.

Also wholeheartedly agree that the word "budget" should never be misconstrued as "can't afford it". Smart money always wins.

I understand your point completely. The part that I don't quite get is sweating $100 when that $100 represents the difference between TI and Caesars. If you asked "is Bally's worth $100 more than Flamingo", my opinion would have been different.

I'm looking at going to Vegas in March for my friends bachelor party in April. There is 5 of us so we are considering either getting 2 rooms that are linked up or a suite for all of us. We are in our mid to late 20s so we will be looking at gambling, drinking, clubbing, strip clubs, and a pool. Trying to spend about 350-500 a night between all of us. I was looking at the palms for the pool and young crowd and found a suite for 320 but we don't want to be that far removed from the strip. What are the better options for my group. Any recommended websites for suites or deals I'm not privy of? None of us have a player account with any of the casinos as far as I know.

For hotels with good pools

5 star: aria, marquee, Wynn
4 star: MGM, hard rock

Flamingo (2/27-3/1): Among the best places to stay if you're on a solo trip or with the guys. Among the worst places to stay if you're with a female companion or your family. Location is supreme, cost is great, rooms are meh. Worn furniture, peeling wallpaper, nasty elevators, etc, etc. Stuff that a typical dude wouldn't give a damn about but women would get spooked. Strongly recommend staying in rooms off of the Habitat elevator for easy access to strip through north entrance out to the new Linq. For convenience sake I'd pick Flamingo over: Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Ballys, Paris, PH, MGM, Quad, Harrahs, TI and anywhere else not on the strip.

Hotel options are Luxor, Flamingo, Palms, or Golden Nugget. I want to be within walking distance to the strip and plan on playing some poker.

pros and cons to these guys would be really helpful.. thx in advance.
Why not stay at The Palms so you can walk across the street and play poker at a the Rio/Amazon Room for the juicy WSOP-Fed cash games. Seems like The Palms has had some good room and free play deals lately.

If you want to hit the strip Rio has a shuttle you can catch.

Forgot Venetian/Palazzo imo. Solid pool, great suites. I've stated this before, but I've stayed with 5 guys total in 1 room at the Palazzo (2 queen beds, pull out sofa, and sectional that's big enough to sleep someone).

However, if you can afford it, stay at the Cosmo. Eye candy there is by far the best. And you can skip the long line at Marquee at night (there's a separate Cosmo hotel guest entrance on the 3rd floor - still will have a crowd but nowhere near as bad).

Unconfirmed. Try picking up a girl at Wynn. (Hint, they'll be trying to pick you up first)

Mid tier hotels. Going to say MGM. Cosmo is the spot though , but honestly most of Las Vegas is a deviation or two above the mean for lookers.

When I stayed at the flamingo the furniture and room were new and updated and there was even a tv inside the bathroom mirror. I did not experience any of the negative things you mentioned. I do agree that the location is great.

So although I may play a WSOP or two but may play elsewhere. If I had to choose a CET property to get comped at would Paris be the likely choice assuming I don't spring the extra money for Caesars? My other options being Ballys, Flamingo, Rio, PH, Quad(Nooooo)

Yes, though some would choose PH based in the overall vibe. I can't stand Paris, but their rooms are the most decent on that list.

Sounds like you had a GO room. I tried to upgrade to one, couldn't do it. Mine was "fab deluxe."

Stayed there last fall and liked the room for the number of stars it gets.

Sort of felt Parisian but with American conveniences. I didn't mind the hotel itself either

Q. I reserved a basic (cheapest) room for 5 weekdays (Sun - Fri) at both Vdara and Rio, what are my chances for getting an upgrade with the $20 trick?
Do I need to offer more than $20? What upgrade should I ask for? Solo travel.
