Have weekday comps during WSOP for FAB LUXURY w/ Strip view at Flamingo and Indigo Tower Deluxe at Bally's. Comparison of the two? Are Indigo Tower old or renovated? Only knew North and South Tower w/regard to Bally's. Deluxe appears the midlevel, above Classic and below Premium.

Indigo tower is the north tower and has not been renovated since 2004 afaik. I wouldnt stay at ballys unless it was the jubilee tower (south tower).

Edit I may be wrong and completely confused I stayed in ballys 11 months ago and cant remember which tower is which

Anyone have a review on the Meridian?

I found two seperate websites that both claim to represent the Meridian....

http://meridianluxurycondoslv.com/

http://www.meridianlv.com/

They have different contact phone numbers? Is one of these a scam site? I was only able to reach someone at the Meridianlv.com, but it seemed fishy.

Separate owners = separate websites. No idea if one or both of them is a scam, but the presence of two sites and two numbers would be totally normal for a condo building.

Ahh. they were using some of the same interior photos which made me skeptical. Either way, I gave up on the Meridian!

the meridian is a condo community, not a hotel. Units are rented by private owners, who use various managers. The sites you mention are owned by (IMO) the best property management company here and the absolute worst.

Meridianlv.com is the reincarnation of Travel Link Unlimited and various other companies. It is owned by Konstantino Kouris. He has been scamming and ripping people off at the Meridian for years under various company names. Why they continue to countenance his presence here is a mystery to me. There are posts here in LVL about peoples' bad experiences with Kouris. He was recently fined for fraud by whatever body regulates LV real estate.

meridianluxurycondoslv.com is owned by Michael Schurer. He is the treasurer of the Meridian HOA and is the largest property manager here. I have been renting from him for about 8 months and have not had any problems whatsoever. Very nice, accommodating guy and easy to work with. I had initially leased a unit from a smaller manager here and the owner decided to sell with almost no notice. Michael managed to get me into a unit in early june with almost no notice when places here are very difficult to find because the meridian is so popular during the WSOP. He didn't even gouge me on the price.

Meridian condos were sold with a standard furnishing package, and many of the photos are stock interior photos of units here that were distributed by the HOA years ago. I am pretty sure that if you inquire with Michael, he will be able to send you specific photos of the specific units available.

Some may differ but it works without the big price of Aria but it still depends upon what you are expecting. For me, its perfect for poker and it even has a food court.

I have 5 nights booked at the MC starting in 2 weeks and having a food court is part of the reason I chose it

Indigo tower = North tower
Classic = non strip view
Deluxe = Facing strip
Not sure about premium but I would guess a slightly better view.

I stayed North tower 12 months ago and it was fine. If you expect a luxury hotel then this obv isn't it, but room was clean and quiet, spacious and cheap. If you main aim is playing poker then it will do you fine.

this... indigo is north tower. Up until a few months ago, it was the newer tower at ballys, but they renovated south tower.

The rooms are still pretty good, and recently renovated enough to be considered modern.

FAB is the bottom of the line flamingo room. I stayed there about a year ago and it was pretty awful. Fake wood floors (no carpet) tiny bathrooms and there was this disgusting pink fuzzy thing on the bed. However, i hear it has been renovated since then, so maybe its not as bad any more.

given the choice though, i would definitely go with ballys.

Another situation involving CET that maybe someone can help with. I have 5 comp nights June 1-6. I want to then switch to Rio for June 7-10, the first two nights at a cheap rate, the next two comped. I can't book it online, because Caesars ******ed website won't let you check into a new hotel the day you check out of an old one. I called, and they wouldn't let me book it, because they said you have to completely check out for 48 hours before using more than 5 comps? So they booked me June 9-10 at Rio for free, but refused to book me June 7-10 with me paying for June 7 and 8. Seems like the most asinine possible policy. Anyone had luck getting around this?

Yikes, I didn't know Cromwell was supposed to be the nicest CET property, for whatever reason I thought it was going to be another mid-range hotel. The prices are, at least initially, higher than Caesars Palace and Nobu: $249 weekdays / $299 weekends.

Call VIP and book over the phone. The only way I know around this...and I have the same issues with multiple bookings.

The Cromwell was supposed to be Gansevoort, which was pretty nice in New York.

When the deal fell through, instead I starting from scratch, they actually kept most of the Gansevoort furnishings / designs.

I'm sure these hotels have been reviewed before, but a fresh perspective never hurts.

Stratosphere: I got a very good price of $26/night through Hotwire for a 3 day stretch where Flamingo/Ballys/ were going for $105+.

The room was fine. There are 3 or 4 tower options, and booking through Hotwire, I undoubtedly got the worst. It was clean, with a small bathroom. The casino itself was dark and fairly dead most of the time, though I was never there when normal casinos are crowded. The poker room seemed to have 2-3 tables running at any given time after 1pm or so. Seemed like a lot of locals.

The major concern with Stratosphere is the walk. I walk fast and it was a 20-25 minute walk to Wynn. The Deuce bus is super convenient, however. There's a stop 2 blocks south for the strip, and right across the street for going downtown. One day I walked to pawn stars, then downtown, then to Aria for the 1pm and eventually back. Safe to say I was very sore the next day.

Overall I'd definitely recommend the Stratosphere if the deal is sufficiently better than a mid strip hotel or you have a vehicle. If you're adverse to walking or spending money on cabs/busses stay away. If distance is no problem, don't hesitate to book as it's more than adequate for the price.

Mirage:

I was very impressed with the Mirage. I remember looking at reviews a few years ago and seeing a very negative presence on Trip Advisor. I think they've done a great job not only renovating the rooms, but revitalizing the entire vibe.

The room was a little small, but had clearly recently been renovated. The casino was constantly buzzing, as was the poker room. Consistently 4 or 5 1-2 tables after 6pm. Terrible players, good room location, and friendly staff. I did hear that they're planning to move the room, which is disappointing.

Overall I'd definitely recommend Mirage at its current price point. You can't beat the location, atmosphere, and good poker too.

Other random notes: don't stay at TI right now. Major renovation in front and just generally not a happy place.

We did the Harrahs comedy show and had a great time. $22 tickets via TixTonight booth. The only negative of the comedy show was the fact that we had to enter Harrahs. Not a fan.

I passed through The Quad a few times and whether it was 10 am or 2am, there was what appeared to be a hour+ long line to checkin.

How long does the check-in line at Flamingo tend to be? Sunday evening, say 8 PM.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Trump Tower?

Hotwire has a deal for around $110/night during Pacquiao-Bradley week. I know there's no casino and the location is ****e, but I'll be mostly playing at the V and the Wynn so Trump seems like a good fit for my plans.

At the Trump, the actual room is as well appointed as you could ask for, especially in terms of the bathroom - but then the shrill wailing of a screaming banshee wakes you up in the wee hours because the hotel is right next to a railroad crossing that calls for the trains to honk their horns.

I'm staying (sleeping) at TI for March Madness. As long as sleep isn't a problem I don't mind.

Planning a trip to Vegas for EDC week ( june 18-23 )

Hotel options are Luxor, Flamingo, Palms, or Golden Nugget. I want to be within walking distance to the strip and plan on playing some poker.

pros and cons to these guys would be really helpful.. thx in advance.

From what you have listed, Flamingo is best for walking distance to poker rooms and its on the strip. Luxor is really far down, Palms is not on strip, and GN is downtown.

Golden nugget is downtown and not walking distance to the strip anytime of the year.

Palms is kind of a hike anytime of the year to the strip. When the weather is nice, its doable if you like to walk. However, in mid june, it can easily be 95 degrees plus 20 hours a day, and 105-110+ for most of the morning and afternoon, so i would cross that one out too.

Luxor and the Flamingo are pretty close in terms of how nice the hotels are... I think luxor is a little nicer but but im more into Nefertiti than Jimmy Buffett, so maybe its just personal preference. Flamingo's location is much much better though... from an earlier post: (you can replace "CP" with "anywhere youre likely to want to play poker"

Quote:
that said its probably close to a mile and a half from luxor to CP.... definitely long enough to be irritating either coming from or going to a significant tourney. the walk is through one of the most typically crowded/congested areas of the strip.... so basically its 1.5 miles of shouldering your way past families of fat people walking 3 abreast and standing still on the moving walkways. You can take the tram for some of it (monte carlo to the B) but IMO you save yourself pretty much no walking milage because of the boarding locations (you have to walk from the front of monte carlo all the way to the back to get the tram. Then when you get to the B you have to walk from the absolute back of the B to the front to get access to casears. Ironically enough, once you get to casears, you have to walk all the way to the back again to get to the poker room)

Thx for the responses. Im kinda hesitant to stay at Flamingo since I'm actually on a 1 year self ban from all CET properties. ( long story about how my dumbass didn't realize when I excluded myself from online NJ CET gambling it would be for land based casinos as well)

I would be booking the room in my wifes name and afraid I would get drunk, play there, them find out, and how no where to stay..

Kinda leaning towards the Luxor or just spending the extra 250$ a person and go with the Aria.
