I'm looking for May 7-10, I thought the quad was cheaper.

I'm getting below rates through a 3rd party for June/July:

6 nights at RIO = $75/day
6 nights at Cosmopolitan = $90/day

Taxes included, without resort fees though.

Is that ok? (1st time in Vegas).

Go room at Flamingo $581 + tax
North tower at Ballys $434 + tax

Stayed at Bally's last time which was fine but going through their casino was a bit of a grind and I now see they're demolishing the front so could be even more of a chore. I expect to play most at Mirage/V so these are all a bit of a walk but from memory Vdara isn't *that* much further South?

Am I overthinking this? Is the EV of staying at Vdara much greater than the ~$200 saving.

Also, anybody know what's happening weekend of 22/23 March? Low end CET properties are wanting $250 min each of those nights. Think I will need to get on the V poker rate the first weekend of my trip. Though I could just as easily book Vdara the first 4 nights for $600 (and not have the pressure of 24 hours poker at the V to get through) then go with Ballys/Flamingo for 6 nights when I get back from Utah.

Any thoughts?
On Vdara, check hotwire.com secret rates for south strip 5 star. You'll probably see one 5 star without a casino listed in the amenities. That will be their rate for Vdara.

There's gotta be some major event that weekend. I just checked Mlife, and the rates are the highest I have ever seen them.

Book Cosmo now. You're probably benefiting with their current 'stay 2 nights, get 1 free' promotion.

If I book a couple nights through my Total Rewards, but share the room with a Diamond member, can he get the resort fee waived? I see there is a space to put the companion's TR # but he is out of the country and won't be back for a week.

Thanks for the advice. Done.

Read several positive posts about cosmo here. Booked it through a poker travel agency in brazil.

Got 1 weekend in June during EDC + 4 days including another weekend and July 4th.

How legit is this travel agency? Those rates sound too good to be true. Cheapest rate on Cosmo's website for EDC weekend is $500 a night.

Indeed they sound too good to be true, but it is legit. A lot of friends booked through this agency for WSOP last year. They also offer venetian and caesars at $120 (it was 110 and 95 2 months ago), aria for $95 and rio for $75.

I also booked flight, but I believe I would get the same rates for hotel only.

Have checked cosmo's website for edc and july 4th and both are very expensive.

Considering the cosmo's reviews here it seems the best deal offered by this travel agency.
Should not get 6 nights at rio for just 15 less.

if this was in reply to me, (hard to tell without quoting) I am booking the room with my offers, not his. I am wondering if I book the room through my TR if he can get the resort fee charged to me waived by staying in the room/checking in together.

Dilemma:
Next week I can get 3 nights at Aria for $503 total.
or The Mirage for $440 total.
Aria includes a $50 resort credit, Mirage includes 2 tickets to Love, which we'll see anyway ($140 for two).

I've never stayed at either, and both are basic rooms. What would you do?

Aria

Not close

Way nicer and only cost slightly more

Not so fast...

The Love tickets are the key here. With the offers, Aria is now about $150 more since the value of the Love tickets is more than the resort credit. Yes Aria is nicer, not sure it's "way nicer" and $150 is right at the point where I have to think about it.

OP, if you do Mirage try to upgrade (free or $20) to a Tower Suite room. Bigger bathroom, more private floors.

Exactly- the GF wants to see Love anyway.
Aria + tickets - resort credit: $600
Mirage with tickets: $440

Thanks for the upgrade advice. They emailed me about a Tower room upgrade for another $40.

Hmmm. You are right.

I guess I let my irrational love of aria get to my head.

I also like the location compared to the mirage.

I would still go with aria, but in the end, go with mirage if that $150 will be spent on something that makes the trip much better. (Ie. Nice meal )

Even though the deal I got at Aria made me switch my reservations from CP, the way you talk about the place may have nudged me.

Kind of a random question, but how will my overall stay at Aria compare to my stay at Palazzo in 2012? Does it just come down to personal preference at the end of the day?

Keeping in mind I have no idea how your stay was at Palazzo, I'd say yeah pretty much.

BTW, the stay at Palazzo was outstanding. The wife, a noted hotel snob, loved the room, location and the property in general.

Saving $600 out the door (over five nights at Palazzo) plus $150 in food credit lead me to giving Aria a shot this time. I know the room won't be as big and nice, but I hear the beds are great . . . Among other things.

I like Aria better than Palazzo in every way I can think of. That may be because while I like Palazzo just fine, that property doesn't have the style or sense of design that a truly nice place has. It's a barn with sconces and chandeliers, too hodgepodge. Aria is at least trying for something.

The difference between the two is personal preference.

The tiebreaker for me is the location. Palazzo is simply too far north, whereas aria is right at the center of everything

We have a first-time to Vegas couple coming with us and this is their first trip away from their four kids together since they started having them (5.5, 4, 2, 4 mo). They wanted a great Vegas experience and I also thought the closer to center strip the better.

Part of me wanted to stay at MGM, but didn't want to be that far south with first-timers. CP was an ideal location, but was a little stiff and overpriced IMO. The decline and pending closing if their poker room was another factor.

V/P was great but a little northish and their rate was a little higher than I wanted it to be in spite if it being June.

Aria'd poker room is virgin territory for me, so I'm definitely excited about that! When I'm not at the B or Rio trying to play some stud or OE I'll give PLO and $2-$5NLHE action to Aria. Unless they get mixed (mid-stakes) games going again, then they get most of my action.
