In terms of what you get vs what you pay for, mirage is probably the worst value on the entire strip.

If you want to save $, stay at Monte Carlo and then walk over to aria to play next door.

I did a solo trip to Vegas this summer. Stayed at Monte Carlo due to location and price and played most of the pokerz at Aria.

The poker room at MC did not appeal to me atleast, seemed a bit old fashioned for my taste.

But the hotel.. I hated it, the smell that they pumped in the AC made me hate it more and more each time I entered the hotel. The location is superb though, and the price was very good.

If I were doing solo budgety trip again I would 100% choose a different hotel. I would rather stay at MGM than Mirage personally.

Doing another Vegas trip in December, staying for 2 nights and staying at Aria this time around though.

Thanks for the replies.

I narrowed down to Mirage and MGM because yes, I want to save some $$ (Aria,V Cosmo) but not slum it (Harrah's, Quad, Bally's). So I was looking for a solid mid tier. Also, I don't want to have to grind a poker rate at a nicer place.

I will look into MC.

.
Good to know.

This is exactly how I felt when I stayed at TI earlier this year. Cheap, clean and comfortable rooms but the piña colada smell in their lobby made me nauseous.

Mirage is substantially better than the tire fire that they refer to as MC. But it ain't that close to Aria if that is important. MC obviously very close.

I get where you're coming from and promise you Mirage is a better choice than MC. You compare MC to Harrahs/TI/Flamingo, not mirage.

- Stayed at the monte carlo weekend.. it was ok for how cheap it was. the bathrooms are dated and have that black scum in the cracks and the whole thing smells musty but overall i am fine with it. one thing I really like is that it takes pretty much the same amount of time to walk to the aria poker room from the elevator tower in the monte carlo as it does from the tower in the aria.

I just stayed 3 nights at the Flamingo in a Go Deluxe strip view room with a buddy and had a great time!

The spa tower where we were located had dated carpet in the hallways, but the room was fully renovated and was a full on 4-star level room. Comfy, clean beds, cool little extras and generally comfortable. The art deco styling was fun and the staff was for the most part friendly and helpful.

The food was... well it was solid in the food court. The pizza, hot dogs, Johnny Rockets and Pan Asian were solid enough for a mall-like food court. The Tropical Cafe for breakfast was basically rubbish, but I only ate there this morning and didn't care because it was early and I was exhausted, hungry, and up several hundo on the trip.

The casino floor was a fun atmosphere and the poker room was mostly relaxed and soft without being too donkey. All in all it will be a place I'll definitely stay & play again... but not right now, right now I'm moving over to the Bellagio where my Deluxe Fountain View Room is much prefered by Mrs. Natamus

Anyone know the difference between Superior Strip View and Premium rooms at Harrah's? Have a comp for either, not sure which one to go with. With regular rates the "Premium" room is a little more, but that might not mean much.

No experience with harrahs in particular, but CET properties generally the second-lowest-priced rooms are exactly the same as the lowest priced rooms, but with a better view.

I suspect thats what the "superior strip view room" room is -- their standard room with a window facing the right way.

The GO rooms at the Flamingo may be the best value in Vegas these days, though I've read that construction noise can be an issue depending on which tower the room is in.

I usually stay the Quad and for some reason always get the tower facing the Linq. I must say, the noise wasn't all so bad. Mostly during the day you hear loud banging.

The coffee pot and dorm fridge in the GO rooms are a nice addition. One side of the Spa tower that contains the GO room faces the pool, away from any construction noise.

Staying at the Vdara for 6 nights in a few weeks as part of my honeymoon (coming from Ireland, spending 5 nights in Utah snowboarding, 6 nights in Vegas and then 7 nights in an all-inclusive resort near Cancun). What is the likelihood that we get a room upgrade at Vdara if I try the $20 trick and mention the honeymoon, and if I were to ask for any type of room in particular (that they would likely to give me), what to ask for?

I would say there's an extremely good chance especially if you mention "honeymoon". At minimum they should set you up with a Bel fountain view room on the NE side of the property. Good luck and congrats!

The $20 tip is not what you need anymore. I have a friend who works check in at bellagio and she said $200 will get you a legit suite at check in desk. Whoever she calls to change reservation or something gets $100 and she will get $100.

Asking nicely also gets you the same thing for free most of the time (if anything is available). I gladly tip $20 for the upgrade though.

Looking for some advice. I am planning a bachelor party in early February and attempting to stay "budget friendly" for all guests. As of right now, I am offered a comped room at the Rio, Flamingo, or Harrahs. Between the three, which is best? Which should I book?

I have stayed at the Rio before and enjoyed the size of the rooms but unsure if the location (off strip) would be a problem for the bachelor party.
