Yep. My question about that one though is do they still have the window in rooms with two queen beds, or is it just the one-kings?

Really? That's better than an upgrade, $25/night is a big expense to just have it waived. Oh wait....did you still have free wifi in the room? I ask because deep down somewhere in TI's website I saw something about the resort fee being optional but it listed all the things you didn't get if you didn't pay for it. Wifi was one of them and its $20/day by itself. Prob. doesn't matter to alot of people but ill be doing some work while I'm there so I've got to have it.

Also, did you try the $20 trick?

I have no clue if I had free wifi, I never tried to log in

Didnt try the $20 trick either (intentionally anyways)

He offered a free upgrade since it was available, and I ended up slipping him a $20 cause Im nice like that. Definitely a great staff over at TI

bad news for those who stay at Caesar's properties, it looks like they might start charging the dreaded resort fee 03/01 according to this:

Whaat resort fees!

Can anyone confirm/disconfirm if Harrah's/Flamingo is going to have resort fees in June?.

What about if I have already booked a trip before the march resort fee change?

Will the $20 trick get you out of resort fees? I mean basically this is just a way they jack up the price but keep the advertised rate low, right? I'm mostly a tunica mid-roller and nobody down there has tried this baloney (yet).

FWIW, looking to take a mid-week trip out to vegas in april with the wife (OOT 9.5/10 obv, elbows not pointy). We don't give a **** about the pool, but she will donk off a day doing spa BS. We play video poker, I'm looking for some 2/5 NL donkoff time, and probably catch a Cirque show or something, basic boring married couple vegas stuff. From reading this thread I'm liking the aria I think?

An entire thread was created last night dedicated to the issue: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/10...-13-a-1302670/

I'm coming down to Vegas to spend 3 nights for my birthday in late April with 5 of my girlfriends (mid-late 20's).

I've never been to Vegas before and have been browsing this thread. I'll be looking up some of the hotels talked about here like the Cosmopolitan and the Wynn but my initial thoughts were the New York New York, Mirage, Luxor. I'm open to information anyone has about what would be good during this specific time of the year.

Requirements
On the strip
We'd like to spend $1300 together on the room(s)
Gambling doesn't matter
Clubs do matter
No cabs, we want to walk
Location is more important than view

First time to Vegas for a bunch of mid 20-late 20's...

I recommend: ( out of your options mentioned)
Cosmopolitan. For location. Atmosphere. Crowd. One of the best night clubs. One of the best Pool parties/day clubs. Great standard rooms. Amenities. Fairly new hotel.

If you don't mind spending the 1300$ you are willing to put up.

cosmo is too far from wynn/encore if clubs are important.

As anoob to Vegas, I assumed it'd be more appealing to be closer to such places like aria, crystals, Bellagio, caesars forum shops... Especially for a group of girls. More sightseeing, food, & entertainment.

Planet hollywood or Caesars (both regular rooms). Which would you guys prefer?

I stayed at PH, very good location, rooms are okay. I looked at caesar's room pics online...they look old fashioned. However, in Atlantic city, the pics they show on their website shows old fashioned interior design but I was upgraded to the Centaurion tower (AC) and the room was modern (integrated tv bathroom mirrors etc). The room was so different from the pics they show online. I wonder if this is the same in Vegas?

except that Marquee in the Cosmo is every bit as good as, if not better than, XS or Surrender. And Haze in the Aria is close by (probably my favorite "second tier" club).

If you and the gf are young, stay at the Cosmo. Marquee is phenomenal, the casino itself is great, there are good restaurants, and the eye candy there far outstrips anywhere else in Vegas. Wynn/Encore is nice, but it's very out of the way of anything else on the strip.

Edit - for a slightly cheaper room that's still nice and close to Cosmo, stay at Aria or Vdara. Or go even cheaper and stay at the Jockey club (which will still give you access to the Cosmo pool). However, note that Marquee has a seperate line for Cosmo guests which is significantly shorter than the GA line (though pre-purchasing clubbing tickets is an even different, and shorter, line. And the way to go IMO. Screw standing in line for 45 minutes or whatever it is to get into a club).

According to your own criteria, you can mark off Luxor and probably NYNY from your list. Using Walking and Location as the big factors (Tiers are in terms of price):
Tier 1) Cosmo, Bellagio, Aria, Caesar's, Venetian/Palazzo
Tier 2) Mirage, Caesar's, Planet Hollywood, Paris
Tier 3) Flamingo, TI, maybe Monte Carlo
I would avoid Quad and Harrah's. And Caesar's is on there twice because it depends on the type of room you get. And I'm leaving out Wyncore b/c while it's a great property, you're extremely isolated from everything thing else on the strip.
Cosmo it's where it's at for girls nowadays: clubs, restaurants, pools, hangout spots in the hotel, shops nearby...this is what you should get if you can afford it. If you're budget won't match up, Planet Hollywood is a good alternative across the street.

Everything points to Cosmo, Aria or Venetian/Palazzo. If you want to take the costs down a notch, go to Mirage. Do NOT stay at NYNY or Luxor- both are dumps and poorly located.

I vote Vdara, nice apartment like suites, relatively cheap (more spending money yay), close to Cosmo, Aria and Bellagio. Cab to Wynn will run you 15$ or a 20 minute walk.

are there adjoining rooms with "parlors" in between them at bally's?

i'm headed to vegas in a month with 3 other dudes and i think our best bang for the buck would be two rooms adjoined by a parlor - i had a room like this at flamingo (25th floor in the habitat tower) but would prefer bally's

If by "$1300 together" you mean total for all six for all three nights, then your options are limited. It also depends on whether you are talking week nights or include a weekend.

From expedia.com:

April 23-26 (Tues, Wed, Thur nights--three rooms)

Cosmo $2681
Bellagio 2052 + $225 resort fees
Aria 1981 + $225
Vdara 1435 + 225
Mirage 1680 +225
NYNY 855 +225
Monte Carlo 824 + 225
Paris 1204
ph 1161

April 25-28 (Thur, Fri, Sat--three rooms)

Cosmo 3352
Bellagio 2728 + 225
Aria 2488 + 225
Vdara 1977 + 225
Mirage 2018 + 225
NYNY 1642 + 225
Monte Carlo 1458 + 225
Paris 1744
ph 1936
Luxor 1056 + 225
Ballys 1255

Ballys, ph and Paris are adding resort fees for rooms booked after Feb 28. Cosmopolitan is currently waiving the fees, but that will change soon.

If you're looking to be near the current epi-center of the strip (the Cosmo, with Bellagio and Aria nearby), then Planet Hollywood, Monte Carlo and Paris are the best bets in your price range on the week days. There is a bridge over the strip from PH to Cosmo and a tram from Monte Carlo to Aria and Bellagio (Cosmo is between them). NYNY is a hike, although you could walk to MC and tram it. Luxor is too far to walk, especially in heels. Paris is next to ph and Ballys is attached to Paris. But Ballys is a long walk to the strip if the movable sidewalk isn't working, and the South Tower elevators are in a desolate area with no guard checking room keys (not recommended for ladies).

On the weekends only Ballys and Luxor meet your budget. I recommend spending the extra money and stay at the Monte Carlo, especially if booking after Feb 28.

My bad. The site said $75 resort credit. I don't know it that comes off the resort fees, or can be used for food and bev, etc.

Resort credits are typically for food, beverage, spa, etc.
