Wynn Las Vegas' Wynn and Encore hotels each had a 5 rating from AAA in 2012, but this year's announcements (1/18/13) omit both hotels from AAA's 2013 5 and 4 lists.

WTF?? A visit to the AAA website indicates that Wynn has no s but, instead, a "FYI" icon. "The lodging listings with FYI in place of Diamonds are included as an information only service for members. The icon indicates that a property has not been rated for one or more of the following reasons: too new to rate, under construction, under major renovation, not evaluated, may not meet all AAA requirements. A property not meeting all AAA requirements is included for either its member value or because it may be the only accommodation available in the area."

(Tower Suites at Wynn, and at Encore, retain their respective 5* 2012 awards from Forbes, formerly Mobil, Travel Guide. These awards are updated in the autumn.)

The AAA 5 Las Vegas hotels for 2013 are:

ARIA Resort
ARIA Sky Suites
Bellagio
Four Seasons
Mandarin Oriental
SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand
Palazzo
Venetian
.

So, I am headed to Vegas in a little over two weeks. I'll be there Sun-Wed and currently have a room booked at The Quad for a whopping $48 total for 3 nights. Now, I've stayed at IP/The Quad before and I know it is really nothing more than a place to crash.

I'm trying to decide if booking a room at Aria for the poker rate (I believe that is $99/night + resort fee) is worth the extra cash. I've stayed at Aria once before and the rooms are amazing. The problem is, I'm solo on this trip. If I was with my wife, it would be the Aria all the way, however, this is strictly a poker playing trip.

The Quad has a great location and is definitely no frills. I'll end up playing a fair amount at the Aria on the trip regardless of where I stay so making the required hours/day will not be an issue if I choose the poker rate option. I normally split my time playing $2/$5 NL between Aria/Bellagio/Venetian.

So, it comes down to whether I want to spend an extra $300 or so to not have to deal with possible construction noise and the ability to just walk downstairs and play versus walking the strip for a bit.

Thoughts?

Fresh air is good...

Quad sucks...

Try Harrahs... just a step or two up from Q, and only a few $$$ more.

Saving $200+/- could be significant. I can think of a few things 2 bills can get ya......

Ok, dumb question time.

I have a Terrace Suite w/ fountain view booked at Cosmo for 3 nights. Looks like I can book a wraparound suite for $400 more (total.)

The $400 isn't a huge concern to me, but my gf was really looking forward to the bellagio fountains being in view.

Is the wraparound suite so much nicer than the terrace that I should just say f the fountains? Or stick with plan A?

was in vegas two weekends ago with friends. they stayed at the aria and upgraded to the sky suites. can say how much they paid, but can say that their room was very pimp, spacious, and great for hosting a group of friends (separate half bath away from the full bath). i'd def. look in to it if your headed that way.

Do the wraparound next trip.

Spoiler:

Do not miss the view of the fountains from your terrace. Get as high of a floor as you can.

Wraparound at cosmo is def worth the 400$ extra for 3 nights if you can afford it. Although, how much time you plan on spending hanging out I'm such an awesome room.
Maybe best with a bigger group.

This is the view I had from my 1 bed terrace at the Cosmo in December. If your GF doesn't like this then I don't know what to tell you! wraparound not necessary unless you want to be balla imo. My only complaint was that the walls were I bit thin and I could hear people in the next room sometimes.

No idea why they won't let me pay an extra few hundred to get a wraparound with a fountain view that could solve everything

Do not go to ARIA, it's where all the low lives go. I wouldn't stay in that hotel if it was free. They had an outbreak of Legionnaire's Disease when my brother was staying there. When I walk through ARIA all I see is ghetto ass bastards with no class. It's a yucky place. Stick to Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian (lotta asian tourists).

Haven't noticed any ghetto ass bastards when I've stayed at aria... Lol
Legionnaire was a few years ago.

However I do agree, I would only stay there for free. 79$ a room at aria can get you a bigger room at other casinos if you aren't comp'd.

Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the ghetto ass bastard in the first half hour at Aria, then you ARE the ghetto ass bastard.

Follow up question from a few pages back regarding booking trips:

We're pretty set on the Flamingo, and sometime in the fall/winter. Right now through the booking sites it looks like Nov/Dec is the best, to take advantage of the 25% off, rather than 20% off prior to November. I've been tracking a particular four-day trip, Nov 12-16, for some time now, and have noticed it going up in price steadily from $420/person to $475/person (flying from buffalo) over a span of 4 weeks.

My question is, surely the price cannot increase at a constant rate; is there a point where the price generally comes back down? i.e. 6 months before - May? Was booking for the best price indeed back in January? By this logic will January bookings, when available, be much cheaper?

Basically looking for insights in booking through expedia, travelocity etc. for Flights/Hotel on a budget.
thanks

If you want the ability to book and then rebook if the price gets lower, don't go through a third-party site. That's how you get a lower price. Otherwise, you're just leaving it to chance. That's a system that is pretty tough to game.

I always stay at a Caesars establishment when I go to Vegas- I'm a platinum member & typically get comped rooms at harrahs- or pay a very small price. However, in the next two months, there are zero comps and rooms are expensive. Anyone have any recs for cheaper rooms? I'm going to play poker feb 15-18 and need a hotel room.

What hotels offer rooms to fit 3 people in seperate beds? (preferrable queens)

Toying with the idea of me and 2 friends getting a bigger suite type room and sharing but have no idea whats available

Looking at the websites is pretty vague and I'm not able to call them yet, just trying to get an idea of what hotels offer such rooms
