I've seen this as well.

I know that Caesars properties used to have a ~$10 resort credit if you declined housekeeping for 2/3 nights. I think they dropped that, but am not sure.

I will say that the last 3 times at Cosmo we've had housekeeping ask us to clean the room every day even when we have the DND light on. We keep the room clean and it has 2 bathrooms, so towels aren't an issue. I guess it's nice to come back to a made bed with clean sheets, but every other day is fine. And just for madlex.... Cosmo has the dimmed light feature on the light switch, so you don't even need housekeeping for that

No housekeeping is a feature, not a bug, for me. I never let them in my rooms.

Caesars Entertainment will check guests' hotel rooms every 24 hours even with a 'do not disturb' sign on the door, under a newly announced policy. The company, one of the largest casino operators in the world, joins a growing list of hotel and casino operators that have taken similar steps following last October's mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Daily checks are that much more active, and potentially intrusive. It doesn't surprise us that Caesars will use security guard to make the checks on do not disturb rooms, after casino workers' unions objected to having housekeepers doing it.

In a lot of hotels I've stayed in lately, if you read the fine print, they reserve the right to do "welfare checks" or "safety checks" anytime they want. Just because your room hasn't been made up doesn't mean someone wasn't there.

They reserve the right doesn't mean that is what's happening. I will say that Caesars knocked on my door in late of 2018 after 3 days of DND. I've also stayed at Caesars in AC after that date for a long weekend while running the AC marathon. On the third day we came back to the room after dinner to find security knocking for a welfare check. If they had been in our room before that, then I am sure we would have gotten dinged for the toaster and induction plate.

Just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it CAN'T happen.

And 3 days seems to be the sweet spot for a check of some kind.

I said they reserve the right. How often do you think this is actually happening when hotels seem to be getting rid of staff?

I also agree that the standard is 3 days.

EDIT: your quote used the words "Caesars Entertainment will check guests' hotel rooms every 24 hours"

Yep. It's a Vegas thread is why I posted the Caesars policy.

As far as how much it's actually happening? I have no clue.

My guess though is that if it does happen when you're not in the room, you would never know.

There are other articles that address "illegal search and seizure" and "right to privacy." My guess is that they are looking for dead bodies or a half dozen AK47s on the bed. If there is a toaster or a hot plate or a small bag of coke laying around, they'll probably look the other way. Not worth their time or headache.

Again, just my opinion.

I doubt they look the other way to a fire hazard, but that is also JMO. By the way, that was not me. I thought the induction plate was reasonable.

I always brought a toaster for pre-race tart cherry jelly toast

FWIW, I doubt many hotels are interested in spending money on daily wellness checks. The provision makes sense anyway to protect them from fourth amendment shenanigans.

Try running with a GF person. We cooked pasta on the induction burner the night before because there were no decent options at the time.

By the way, taking the elevator down to the start line is the absolute nuts.

You're right. I'm a ****ing idiot. Forget everything I just posted today. Caesars doesn't own any properties in Vegas and they had a mass shooting in AC i forgot about.

Go ahead and put the DND hanger on your door a be confident nobody will ever come into your room while you're staying there or anywhere else in America.

When I ran Houston we stayed at a hotel (Magnolia) that was 0.2 miles away from the start according to Google Maps. On race morning I stepped out of the hotel and realized the entry to my corral was right there.

Why are you so mad? FWIW, nobody expects that they would never enter your hotel room. The only real change with that policy is that they don't need a bogus reason to enter your room anymore.

Automated check-in on the phone at Linq this weekend asked me if I wished to decline maid service, which I did. Still had a towel-a-day, and I didn't care if my bed wasn't made, or a dirty rag wiped over the bathroom surfaces each day.

Can confirm pre-'rona/post-massacre, hotel security did a welfare check after 3 days with the DnD sign up.

Stayed a couple of nights at the Linq this weekend. "District 3" pool view.

Room was just fine for me solo. Very clean, somewhat newly renovated. Appreciated the fridge in the room (hear that MGM properties?). District 3 is closest to the parking garage, good at checkout, at least. Blackout curtains did their job.

Pool view would be improved if the pool were open (at least that's the hope)

Last stayed at the Rio in 2019 for WSOP. I was out most of the day playing poker, but a buddy came to visit and then got jammed up with work and spent most of the first few days in the room with DND sign. After 3 days security came (and were kind of obnoxious according to him).

I've had a room at the old IP in roughly that area. Starting around noon it felt like the pool party was actually in my room.

During a group coaching one of my students asked if I could turn down the music.

I hope they replaced the windows during remodel.

I know this is the obvious and nothing new

I basically always have the do not disturb sign on, for all my stays at all properties - sometimes for upto 10 days. I have never ever had anyone ask what´s up. Housekeeping sometimes asks if I need anything, I change towels every 3 days or so and do a lot of takeout that I eat in the room so all my garbage goes into those bags and out the door every night to be picked up and thats it. I have so far stayed at like 6-7 different properties like that.
