If you had to pay the 50 dollar resort fee then you must not really be diamond... Humble brag!

Thought maybe ceasars main property would be different from all their other trash ones but I was clearly wrong

MGM ftw
Caesars is basically a pretty crappy experience overall. (I spent a couple of days there for a conference recently. Polite staff, but serious company lack of dedication to providing them tools and resources for actual customer service.)

It’s incredible to me that they manage to maintain their price premium. I’ve just booked a wsop stay and went through all the major properties and Caesar’s is basically priced the same as Bellagio and Aria.

Hi… would really appreciate some advice on how bad Ballys/Horseshoe really is? You read TripAdvisor and it’s either fantastic or disgusting.

I’ve just booked there for 3 weeks during WSOP and am just after somewhere reasonably economical but reasonably clean.

Obviously I like the convenience for wsop but would happily stay nearby within walking distance.

For context, I stayed at the Rio 10 years ago and thought it was fine and stayed at the MGM towers 6 years ago and thought they were great.

I don’t need luxury but definitely don’t want to rough it.

Would also appreciate any advice on what room location to request if I do keep my booking there.

Thanks in advance.

The Horseshoe is reasonably economical and reasonably clean.

I'd stay there over Linq/Flamingo/Harrahs which are in the same ballpark price.

I have stayed at Ballys/Horseshoe twice, last time in May 2022. Both times I have had a Resort Room (1 King), which is pretty much always the cheapest room available.

Honestly think the property is underrated, as I have found the rooms to be very clean, spacious (450 square feet), and overall very comfortable for their prize point. Location is obviously also stellar in general, and especially for your specific purpose.

Just avoid some of the haunted floors after the fire in 1980, and you'll be plenty comfortable there

Also for Bally's:

If you like to go to bed before 3AM, might not want rooms that face Paris. They have a rooftop nightclub that will probably keep you up, even with earplugs.

If you get a resort room, try asking (if possible) for a room facing the pool.

Guaranteed to be not facing Flamingo Rd which is also a no-go for me as it's pretty noisy all night!

As you have I stayed at the RIO beginning in 2006 (didn't play every year) Stayed at Bally's now Horseshoe last year for 3 weeks. $ for $ it is a good deal and the basic King room was fine. Certainly better than the RIO rooms in the later years (Rio in 2006 were great) and the Casino itself is also better (hard to be worse than the RIO ) Paris is MUCH nicer at the Casino level. Horseshoe rooms were clean and the cleaning staff excellent and timely. Trust me if you could survive the RIO in the last few years the Horseshoe is a big improvement. Mid tier in general but priced accordingly. If you stay at the Bally's/Horseshoe then stay in the Jubilee Tower its closer to the WSOP rooms in Bally's and a little closer to the Paris WSOP rooms.

Thanks to all above. Really appreciate it. Sounds like jubilee tower facing the pool is the recommendation from what I can tell and just hope it’s not haunted.

Thanks

3 weeks is a ton of time to be eating out every meal. Have you looked at some of the mid range options for places with kitchenettes? I'm only going for 11 days and that's my preference

Jockey Club and Polo Towers are close enough to Bally's to be convenient for WSOP. Club Wyndham a little further but probably a 15 min walk or a 3-4 min uber

more expensive but Hilton Elara is v close and Vdara not too far away

That reminds me of our first time staying > 4 weeks at MGM Singnature. Stocked the fridge at Whole Foods the very first day and had big plans of cooking frequently. At the end of the stay we noticed that the fridge was still full and the oven/stove hadn't been used a single time..

yep. it's definitely within the range of possibilities!

My plan is just to buy eggs and bread and a few microwavable fitness meal things and some decent coffee. I always need to do a few hours work most days to stay in touch with my business so I should be there for 1 meal per day...generally breakfast.

And if I ever make a dinner break in an mtt (which is a long shot) Vdara is close enough to head back to for a shower and maybe a nap or a bite to eat before heading back.

also nice to have an empty fridge to store some beer and wine in.

we'll see .... good intentions at least

As good as a suggestion this is, I just know I’ll never cook a thing.

I did look at Hilton Elara and found what appeared to be a ridiculously good deal but the host didn’t have any reviews so I was unsure about going with it. Seemed too cheap to be true.

Buddy of mine stayed there last year and said it was vvg. It's quiet, the rooms are awesome and it's never too crowded. It's only a minute walk to the Miracle Mile shops too and close to Paris and Bally's

My last two trips to Vegas

Resorts World Only clean your room evert three days
Southpoint they asked if you wanted maid service at all

Is this the norm now? Personally I am a fine with it as I really do not need daily room cleaning

Still love the Southpoint Poker Room was busy every day

I think it is. I recently was at a non-Vegas hotel where you could hang a sign on your door that you wanted to have cleaning. So basically the opposite of how it was in the past.

Always thought it was a nice touch to get to your room at night with the lights dimmed and a piece of chocolate on your pillow. That said, I need fresh towels every 3-ish days and not much else. Perfectly fine with me if they save there instead of jacking up resort fees another 10 bucks. (They're probably doing both though).

Think of the labor cost savings. Must be huge. Just left Southpoint and even there a $24 plus the room tax of$18.00

I have no idea how much that is but even min wage adds up quickly. A friend who is in management at a local grocery store chain ranted to me how unfair it was that Aldi could get away with their shopping cart system where people had to insert a quarter. According to him they're paying 100k a year per store for the min-wage guys who pick up carts from the parking lot.

And so if you do want the room cleaned every day is that an extra charge? Or it is just a ‘sigh ok’ from the resort?

I do know Hilton Elara has a daily cleaning fee if you want maid service but haven’t heard of others

Idk I’m staying 10 days in June and while I really don’t want to add an extra $300 added to my Vdara stay I also don’t want an unmade room for that long

I have no clue, didn't see anything about a housekeeping fee though.

For Vegas specifically, at least in theory hotels are required by law to clean occupied rooms daily. Therefore I would think they can't charge extra for that unless it's one of the pre-listed fees you have to opt out of?

Cannot confirm with certainty but it felt like if you asked every day, they’d do it. Seems like a reasonable action from them if you frame it as a thing they know most people will forget to ask about for at least a couple of days even if they want it every day, thus saving them some expense.

When I stayed last year at Resorts World and last week at Southpoint you could request daily room service no extra charge . For me I didn't care and I think many others don't either . Though at Resorts World they never told me but at Southpoint they asked me at check in
