The interesting line in there was "hotels and motels purchased by the state in recent days"

Does that mean properties that were not currently functioning under the flag of any of the chains and were, otherwise, vacant/for sale? Or are they saying they are essentially booking the rooms that were vacant due to the lack of traveling public using them?

If the former, then it should not impact future travelers. If the latter, then the property will likely go the route of apartment complexes that have seen increasing numbers of low-income subsidized residents...

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Any advice for semi nice places to stay in vegas for cheap? So far when doing research, it seems like best prices are excalibur, westgate, strat, harrahs, luxor, circus circus, etc.

I'm just looking for a place that might have a few solid restaurants, breakfast on site and is relatively safe (im guessing all vegas spots are safe). Also most prefer being semi-close to venetian because i'll be playing mtts there (5-10 min uber ride would be fine for me honestly).

Based on your listed properties go with Harrahís, pretty much next door to the V and is a good place with food and entertainment. All the others are a hardy walk or the cost of Uber will add up. Check out flamingo and Ballyís as well, prices should be close to Harrahís. Also close to most other poker action on the strip

Ballys renovated a tower, i stayed there and the room was the biggest standard room I've stayed in. Harrahs newly renovated room is nice. Flamingos go room overlooking pool is ok and the renovated "flamingo" room is good.. paris room is just ok. If you have diamond card from caesars thefe is no resort fee.

Out of those Harrahs for you. Look into Flamingo, their small poker room is now open.

1) no
2) no
3) no, slums
4) ok as someone mentioned, best casino of the bunch and best location for what you want.
6) hideous place imo
6) absolutely not unless you just go for steak dinner

There is also Treasure Island which is across the road from the V.

So to me based on what you want. It has to be Flamingo, Harrahs, Ballys, or Treasure Island.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Treasure Island is in a different (better) class than the others, imo.

If you're going in the near future, try to find an extra couple hundred bucks and stay in a nicer than bottom of the barrel place. Reports from multiple forums are talking about the low prices attracting some real low-life. Assuming you're not said low-life, you'll be a lot happier spending a couple hundred more right now.

Haha I go to AC a lot so the riff raff doesnít bother me. Iím going to play poker so Iím not really picky about how nice the room is/ I donít plan to do much other than play poker and sleep at night. Spending extra money to have a nicer room means nothing to me. I would rather have the $ to play more tournies or cash vs sleeping in a better bed lol.

Thanks for the info. Probably will stay at harrahs. I find the harrahs inn AC to have solid rooms and decent restaurants. Thanks for the info. Anyone stay at the linq btw? Just from location, I prolly would choose between linq and harrahs.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

I have stayed at rhe Linq before and staying there this weekend. Usually a younger crowd than Harrahs. Gambling area and remodeled. Next to Flaimingo who has their poker room open from thursday to sunday. The pool is lively with a DJ.

Harrahs / Linq both adequate to sleep... best part is proximity to quality poker rooms. A short walk and you're there.

As for food, quality poker rooms will be near quality food . . . at the very least, you'll walk past good food on the way to quality poker.
