I've noticed that hotels in the Super 8 tier are more likely to have free WiFi than 4-5 star hotels.

If you need a fridge, look for a place with a weekly rate.

Are fridges that scarce in Vegas? Even low level Planet Hollywood rooms have them (I do know that certain room types don't) and PH isn't all that expensive and possibly free during the week if you are rated at all.

Will the $20 trick not get you a room with the fridge?

The higher end the hotel, the less likely they are to have free fridges, WiFi, parking, etc. True in Vegas, true elsewhere. They’re looking for a clientele that isn’t budget or family-minded. They do all have ice buckets and an ice machine down the hall though.

He's staying at Orleans and I think the last time stayed at Polo Towers, which was why I mentioned PH.

And I assume your comment is about standard rooms in higher end hotels. I've never had a problem with wifi, so I'm surprised that multiple people have mentioned it.

If it's that hard to find a place with a fridge and is a must have, then I would also recommend the styrofoam cooler.

Here is a probably outdated survey of hotel refrigerator policies.

Hi

Can someone talk me in or out of staying at the Rio for 16 nights during WSOP. I last stayed there 10 years ago during the series and found the room decent enough. Obviously the hotel has its shortcomings but I'm struggling to get past the convenience factor.

I'm staying from June 12 to June 28 (Monster Stack to Colossus) and plan on playing every event (8-10 events) in between so pretty packed schedule and can't really see a good reason to stay on the strip with that much time planned at the Rio.

Can you tell me if the hotel has deteriorated over the last 10 years? If it's much the same as it was then I'm happy to stay there.

Thanks in advance

Unless policies have changed, all you have to do is tell the front desk when checking in that you have medication that needs to be refrigerated, and boom they bring you a free mini fridge.

I stay next door at the Gold Coast and just walk over. Better hotel in my opinion and an easy walk to get there.

What about the hotel at the bottom of the Rio car park? Is it the Wyndham? I’ve never been in there but have looked at it 100 times

It looks close enough to head back to for dinner break but I’d guess it’s interior is less offensive than the Rio

Anyone stayed there?

If you can book Wyndham Desert Blue (it’s a “Vacation Club/timeshare” property so you may only be able to book it as a Club Wyndham or Wyndham Rewards member I’m not sure) is a very nice property finished in early 2019 so actually is super fresh and modern. It’s location in proximity to the Rio convention center is likely closer to the poker tables than the rooms in the big Rio tower.

If you can book it at an affordable rate I’d highly recommend it

Thanks I’ll look into Gold Coast and Wyndham.
Back onto the Rio - if you had a choice of accommodation there which would you take? - Masquerade Tower or Deluxe Suite which I think (but not sure) is a low rise building but would be good if someone could confirm.

Thanks

Wyndham is available on Expedia. Looks like a good option. About $60/night more than the Gold Coast.

They must be struggling to sell those vacation ownerships over there (I have a pal who used to work there but moved to Hilton, which is why I know a few things about the property) I just assumed it wasn’t open for public booking but lol at me

Does Diamond status at Wyndham do anything for you? I think they status match with CET.

Just stayed at Rio few weeks back for the first time in years and was pleasantly surprised by the room. Was expecting a dump from what i remember but the room was big and not bad at all. This is coming from someone whos last 3 hotels have been encore tower suites, caesars palace, and then the rio. Obviously its not in the same league as encore but about the same as caesars and probably 1/4 of the price if not more than caesars and not much difference in the room at all.

I did a search, and it doesn't look as if anyone has mentioned staying at the new Sahara. We'll be there in March and are staying there for a few days because of a promotion gone bad. The rooms look nice online, though, and they are opening a new poker room soon. Any feedback?

Staying at the Aria this weekend for the 3rd time and can't recommend it enough. Combined with the location, Five50, Javiers and the awesome poker room, I don't think there there is a better hotel/casino. Super close to all of the delicious food at Cosmopolitan and a short walk to the Bellagio poker room as well. Unless you're on a tight budget (Flamingo, Linq, Harrah's) if you want to stay on the strip, then I would highly recommend the Aria.

I have not stayed at the Aria, but I play most of my poker there. However, I have stayed at Cosmopolitan, and for the same location, you get a balcony, which is pretty cool. You should give it a try. Everything is automatic from bedside (blinds, lights, etc.). Extremely nice rooms.

If the Aria has balconies/terraces, ignore the above!

When I am by myself I stay wherever, and pretty much always at the Venetian when with management. Will have to give Aria/Vdara/Cosmopolitan a chance. It will probably be nice to try playing somewhere other than Venetian/Mirage.

Was there for super bowl weekend-had a marra tower double-room was clean, albeit VERY small(both beds were touching the wall on one side with about 18-24” between them) rehab is decent. Casino floor is small for a strip casino-more like downtown

Bazaar Meats is off the chain and worth the visit

Here is a pic of the poker room Tuesday morning
