Mirage pool versus TI pool etc... is not even close. I'm thinking you will enjoy it.

I haven't done the Bellagio or Wynn but i would guess they are nicer than the Mirage.

I'm actually a big fan of the TI, but we do a yearly fall football betting trip, my brother comes up from S Cal and we get a cabana on Friday, then drink and bet sports for two days. The TI cabana would have been OK, except for the hip hop/rap blasted at 200 decibels for a crowd that averaged about 50 years old. Seemed odd.

For some reason, I like the Bellagio a bit better than the Wynn for the cabana, but they're both nice.

No strict budget but as the room will be mostly used for sleeping in and not much else I'd like to save money where possible without staying somewhere dirty n sketchy.

Fremont I was thinking Four Queens, The D or El Cortez. On the strip I was thinking Linq, Bally's, Luxor, Polo Towers, Park MGM, Harrah's, Flamingo type places.

How do this sound? TY
Frankly, it sounds odd ..... but hey this is Las Vegas, knock yourself out switching hotels ...

Consider the TI also, for location and generally reasonable pricing....... aside from the most expensive Starbucks in the world out front.

I'm now going to be staying in 2 hotels, 1 for Fremont and 1 for the strip.

Thanks for the TI recommendation, I'm looking at there, Flamingo + Linq.

Caesars has a 4th of July sale on....yet the prices appear to have increased at all their properties, could just be the dates filled up but quite strange for a sale.

I have stayed 10 plus times at the Flamingo and have had no issues. Nice views especially if you get a strip side room. Enjoy their poker room as well. If you want a real low roller stay downtown try the Golden Gate - not as bad as you might think - and I read that the $1.99 shrimp cocktail is back.

Hey I’ve never rented a cabana before - how do you like it? From the searching I’ve done the prices aren’t posted, I’m guessing because it’s dependent on what events are going on? Is it typically under $500? Any info/tips appreciated. For example I’m wondering if it would be cool to hang out there with a buddy during the day, watching sports (it looks like they have TV’s?) and chilling by the pool.

We get a cabana pretty much every trip unless it's below 50 degrees. $400 at the Bellagio a few years ago on Friday before football weekend, $200-250 midweek in Jan. $500-600 at the Wynn on same sort of Friday - I think I got one for $300 midweek Jan a few years ago.

You get a fridge full of water/soft drinks, fruit plate - other food is extra. TBH, the TV thing doesn't work very well - if it's sunny the screen is tough to see - but it's a nice way to spend an afternoon and I probably save $$ by not being in the Casino.

And hard pass on the TI cabanas - the pool is tiny, and they have a DJ who I suspect is the owner's illegitimate son who got the job for that reason and can't be fired. Rap and hip hop at screaming volume to the point you can't talk to a person sitting next to you. I'm old, but I like loud music - but it's ****ing ridiculous. Additionally, the cabana was $200 but a MANDATORY $400 spend on food/liquor. As I noted above, I'm a big TI supporter, but their pool/cabana set up is ****ed up.

Can’t be much fun at the pool in Jan?

If it's 65 and sunny without much wind it's great - pool is heated and there is no one there. Like being a multimillionaire with a huge private pool - and the hot tubs/jacuzzi's are open.
I'd rather do that than August with 110 in the shade and a gazillion people around. From what I understand, to keep a Mobil 5 diamond rating (maybe some others) the pool has to be kept open year round, unless the weather is basically hopeless. So Bellagio, Wynn and Venetian are always open.

I’ve used the Bellagio pool in January but not with a cabana. Water is warm and feels pretty good, just make sure you have a towel ready to grab when you exit. On a sunny but colder day, you could use the pool, go inside to dry off and redress and then get back out if you want to sit in the sun for a bit.

If you live in SoCal or Florida, going to the pool in the winter in LV probably isn’t very enticing. If you visit from somewhere with a sub-zero wind chill, 60 in Las Vegas feels really good.

wow...2 months since the last post!

just stayed three nights at the Cosmopolitan and here are my thoughts.

Wife and I celebrated our 15th anniversary there...it's wifey's first time in Vegas in 13 years and I gave her the option of where to stay. I've stayed at Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo and MGM Signature in the past so I was happy she chose Cosmo. We went for the Terrace Studio with a Fountain View. I don't have any profile with Cosmo so the best deal was via an aggregator and was still expensive, particularly for Sun to Weds. It cost us $1550 Aus, or about 1100 US inc resort fee. (I could have got Wynn for about 750 US and Venetian for 650)

We were in the Chelsea Tower on the 19th floor...we checked in at 12.30pm..could have had a Boulevard Tower 30th floor room but we'd have waited 3 hours before we could check in. The view was great and I'm happy with that decision.

the room has a lovely modern, spacious feel. the bed was surprisingly soft but very comfortable and I liked the studio layout over the slightly more expensive 1 bedroom. The bathroom was awesome..huge shower and we loved the seat in the shower and there was a super deep bath, (that we didn't use) double vanity and the L shaped lounge was also very comfy - wifey had a nap there twice.

the best feature is the balcony with an awesome view of the Strip and the Bellagio fountain show.

I also loved the fact that we had our own fridge - we bought booze from Walgreens across the way each day and pre gamed on the balcony which saved money and was really civilised.

We used the Chelsea pool which took loads of sun wasn't too crowded but has a friendly vibe and decent music. The gym in the Chelsea tower was excellent. (didn't use it)

the vibe around the resort is younger (majority of 20s and 30s I'd guess), tasteful and very female - a lot of groups of girls. Not quiet...but certainly quieter than the Venetian where I normally stay and 3x quieter than Caesars where we went last night (after Absinthe...A++) - man, Caesars is a ****ing zoo. But I do think in some way the vibe in the Cosmo...particularly on the casino floor, is lacking - not nearly as exciting or energised as other places.

We ate at 3 places in there - Rose Rabbit Lie (full review in Fine Dining thread) which we thought was awesome. Holsteins..which was great and Egg Slut...also very good. We had an eye wateringly expensive order of margaritas at Chandelier Bar and an even more expensive afternoon of cocktails and food by the pool - I think 4 drinks and some chicken strips was $120 plus tip or something.

The coffee in the cafe near the hotel lobby was disgusting - walk to Starbucks at the Strip entrance next time.

The service throughout the hotel was friendly, professional and caring. Couldn't fault it. Also thought the resort was totally clean and not at all smoky which was great...albeit, the smell of weed is everywhere in Vegas now!

Would I stay there again? Hmmm. I enjoyed the stay, don't regret staying there at all and I'm happy we chose it. And I loved having the balcony and fountain view. But I wouldn't pay such a premium again. I think I prefer the other end of the Strip from a location perspective (albeit maybe this is because I've always been there before)

At the same price I'd chose Cosmo if I could get the fountain view and because of the fridges but otherwise if it's close I'd go WynnCore or V/P

any questions?

Nice review, I'm checking into Cosmo tomorrow for a couple nights with the wife. Also went with the studio terrace room.

We're eating Friday night dinner at Cut but don't have any other meals planned. might try a spot or two in the hotel, I was thinking Eggslut and Jaleo

Have fun!

If you’re not already committed to other stuff, I really recommend Rose Rabbit Lie for dinner - longer review in the Fine Dining thread - the entertainment was so much fun and the food was excellent.

Funnily enough, Jaleo was the other restaurant which we were considering for last night but we pumped for a quick dinner at el dorado cantina and then the 10pm show at Absinthe instead. If you haven’t seen it (and if you’re not easily offended/insulted) Absinthe is well worth seeing - the best show I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen all the Cirques now

Stayed at Treasure Island recently. I used to stay there all the time BRF (Before Resort Fees). As Vegas hotels go, it's probably the least objectionable these days. Boy, that's a sad commentary isn't it? Least Objectionable? It earns that award because parking is free and you can make a resort fee-optional reservation. It also used to have a fun poker room that was lucky for me. It closed some time ago, but there is just a curtain closing it off now.

What made this my favorite hotel was convenience. The elevators are in the middle of the hotel, which makes it a fairly short walk to everywhere, even the parking garage. They have made it even more convenient by building a CVS that you can walk into right from the casino. That's unprecedented on the Strip. No more $3 Cokes or $10 cans of peanuts from the hotel gift shop.

I agree about the pool prices (we ordered from the signature cocktail menu, so I knew it would be more expensive than beer, for example). In order to justify that cost, we had a junior daybed with a minimum spend of $100. So you get the bed for the entire day where you can come and go as you please. We already have a poolside daybed booked in 3 weeks. $150 spend for the better location. Just a tip if you ever return and plan on spending at least one day by the pool. At least you won't have to worry about getting there early for good lounge chairs.

The terrace is what seals it for me. Waking up in the morning and not feeling the need to get out of the room made a huge difference. Breakfast on the terrace and then a enjoying a drink before heading out for the night while watching a fountain show was a daily ritual. Maybe I'm getting old, but it made the trip a little more relaxing.

I agree about the vibe on the casino floor, but there is a vibe on the 2nd floor. with the restaurants, chandelier, and the day/night club. Not sure it's your vibe, but it seems livelier than the 1st floor.

One question I do have that I couldn't seem to find the answer to a few months ago. Is there a way to get the fountain show music in your room (or is there an app)? That was the only downside of the fountain show in the room.

I love the Kobe beef Robata skewers the asparagus with wafu sauce is a fantastic side/starter as well.

I don’t make recs on sushi b/c taste and allergy needs vary.

If you have more pricey taste the whiskey and wagyu Menu is awesome.

If you’re going to be eating on an expense account just go Ham, the place is so good the robata grilled corn is even super good. If eating by yourself or with a colleague/friend try asking to sit at the robata bar and it’s really fun watching them make everything over there in front of you. The chefs are true artist preparing, slicing and plating the food .
