If you are bringing the gf/wife, check out the GO rooms at Flamingo (same comps as Ballys). Not much more $ and cute rooms.
same as u i stayed at bally's for first time a few weeks ago, after having stayed at harrahs and flamingo before. the $20 trick got me a really nice room(view sucked, very quiet and high up, which is what i wanted) and the young woman who checked me in(i am a platinum member) seemed REALLY appreciative of the $20-i asked does the room have a fridge, she immediately said "no sir, but i will have one sent up immediately" and gave me about 4 bottles of water so " you will have something to put in the fridge"
room was definitely nicer than harrah's room i had, i would say it was as nice, although different, from the go room at flamingo.
poker- only played here first night, too early to sleep yet, games seemed soft, but only 1/2 NL ever spread i was told, which i don't normally play.
location good for bellagio, (and aria if u take tram at back of B), harrah's better location for venetian
if u are into buffet breakfasts(which i am) bally's was the worst buffet breakfast i ever had at a caesars property-actually not as good as the buffet breakfast at gold coast which is 5.95. however, as i discovered on second day, i could walk to buffet (called village bistro or something) at paris, which is physically connected to ballys, in about 4 minutes, and i got the best breakfast buffet i have ever had in vegas for like $17 or something.
so u can balance all this out and make a choice. i had friends staying at venetian, so i really preferred to stay at harrah's, but it was way more than bally's that weekend, as was flamingo; it just depends on the dates and what conventions are where, etc.
enjoy your trip
