Re: Hotel Review Thread

Anyone have any information or rumors about Nobu hotel? It looks like it's a hotel within a hotel similar to The Hotel @ Mandalay Bay and Hotel 32 at Monte Carlo. I see it's listed on my Total Rewards Reservations calendar now. The website up for it is little more than a placeholder with almost no information on details or specifics. I'm mostly excited that it will be available via Total Rewards where I have a lot of degen points built up.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

It's the Centurion Tower at Caesars (which I believe is their oldest one), being rebranded as Nobu Hotel and they're opening a restaurant too.

But I'll be staying only over one weekend, Thursday-Wednsday most likely. I've read so many nice things about Aria, everything from the hotel itself to the poker room seems to be highly liked here in in the "Las Vegas Lifestyle"

For 6 nights at Aria the price seemed quite abit higher than the MGM - 6 nights for $1114 and thats probably without them resort fees? So I'm definetely at the max there for my price pudget.

So I guess the question is: Is Aria worth going to you're absolute max price budget instead of staying at the MGM petite king for probably around $200-400 less?

I've read a lot here about staying at different places. But in my mind it's so much of a hassle, maybe im just lazy

Side note: Do you think it matters booking the hotel couple of months ahead to try to get the room any cheaper?
Personally I think that if you are on a budget, just stay at a cheaper place. That will give you more money to play, eat and drink with. All the things everyone has said about the cheaper properties is true, but save your money for other things. Maybe next time when you have more to spend you can try a nicer place. Lots of people go to Vegas and try to "live it up" and spend beyond their capability, and some people end up sitting doing nothing. Stick to your budget so that you truly enjoy your first experience and save up for the next time.

Anybody stayed at the Artisan Hotel Boutique? Thinking about trying it next time I'm there in the spring. The website makes it look like it would be a very cool/interesting experience, and even though many give it rave reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor, others seem to hate the way they were treated there. Thanks.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Can someone recommend a hotel for us? We are a group of 6 persons traveling from Europe 19 June and will be in Las Vegas for 2 weeks.

We are mainly going there for EDC 21-24 June. The other 10 days we want to spend time by the pool and party during the night. We are looking for a hotel with a big pool where we have best chances on getting pool chairs. We have been looking at MGM Grand, MGM Signature and Mandalay Bay.

MGM Grand has what ive read a good pool, good prices on the rooms and alot of people that are attending EDC will be staying there.

MGM signature, if I understand correct we get access to MGM grand pool, which is important. The rooms are big, so we can pre party all 6 of us in one room. The negative is that they only come with 1 king size, we would like 2queen. But they do have bedsofas, anyone know how comfortable they are? No cleaning is included.

Mandalay Bay, only thing ive read is that they have the best pool. But it feels like the crowd is a bit older, we are 21-25.

Which of the above would you recommend, or any other suggestions?

Quoting myself like a boss.

Looks like I'm able to book Nobu starting Sunday February 10th, 2013 via the Total Rewards website. Prices appear to be around $250 weeknights and $300 weekends. That seems steep, it better be super nice if they're going to charge Wynn/Encore level prices.

Caesars has always charged Wynn/Encore prices without it being anywhere near Wynn/Encore quality. Expect more of that. Note also that the Nobu tower used to be Centurion, which has the smallest rooms there. I doubt they're knocking down walls to make them bigger.

Re: Jockey Club.

Stayed there in April. Couches were convertable so even if not solo if the plans are to just play at Aria/Bellagio and no one is to particular or needy in terms of luxury accomodations it works out just fine. We also had no trouble dodging the time share sales people. The place also has a fully functional kitchen which is nice.

I m stuck in the middle seat on a flight and I am bored

EXCALIBUR:

Stayed there from Sat to Mon over the recent Veteran's Day long weekend.

Upgrade fee to "Flatscreen Room" was supposed to be $20 a night, talked it down to $10, which comes out to be the same as the $20 trick.

The upgraded rooms are all in Tower 2, which is good, because it's near the front of the hotel. Also, that's the building the gym/fitness room is in. (Ie. you probably don't want to walk across the casino floor all sweaty)

The Room:
A) what's good?
-obv super cheap
-room was clean
-I would say quality of the room is like a Holiday Inn
-Short walk to MGM (but not as short a walk as from Trop)

B) what's bad?
-Even as a "renovated" room, it's showing it's age a little , with worn corners on the shelves etc
-$15 resort fee
-only Internet via a cable, no wireless, wtf?
-room was super small, like bed in the middle and room to walk around it and that's it

The hotel / casino
A) what's good?
-many cheap food options
-also close to NYNY's food court

B) what's bad?
-there is no consistency to this place, it's supposed to be the one for family and kids with the arcade etc but then there is also the Thunder from Down Under and the Party Pit... Very confusing

Poker:
-didn't play there, don't even know what the room looks like or where it is
-walked over to MGM to play instead

Overall:
-enjoyable experience, would stay there again

Coming to Vegas late January. I have similar comps at Ballys and Harrahs. I have stayed at Harrahs before, never been to Ballys. Which is the better hotel for a place to sleep and shower, Ballys or Harrahs?

Just stayed at Ballys, perfectly adequate and shower was good and bed comfortable. No resort fee. Great location. Seems to be a standard for poker trips without the gf/wife.

If you are bringing the gf/wife, check out the GO rooms at Flamingo (same comps as Ballys). Not much more $ and cute rooms.

same as u i stayed at bally's for first time a few weeks ago, after having stayed at harrahs and flamingo before. the $20 trick got me a really nice room(view sucked, very quiet and high up, which is what i wanted) and the young woman who checked me in(i am a platinum member) seemed REALLY appreciative of the $20-i asked does the room have a fridge, she immediately said "no sir, but i will have one sent up immediately" and gave me about 4 bottles of water so " you will have something to put in the fridge"

room was definitely nicer than harrah's room i had, i would say it was as nice, although different, from the go room at flamingo.
poker- only played here first night, too early to sleep yet, games seemed soft, but only 1/2 NL ever spread i was told, which i don't normally play.
location good for bellagio, (and aria if u take tram at back of B), harrah's better location for venetian
if u are into buffet breakfasts(which i am) bally's was the worst buffet breakfast i ever had at a caesars property-actually not as good as the buffet breakfast at gold coast which is 5.95. however, as i discovered on second day, i could walk to buffet (called village bistro or something) at paris, which is physically connected to ballys, in about 4 minutes, and i got the best breakfast buffet i have ever had in vegas for like $17 or something.
so u can balance all this out and make a choice. i had friends staying at venetian, so i really preferred to stay at harrah's, but it was way more than bally's that weekend, as was flamingo; it just depends on the dates and what conventions are where, etc.
enjoy your trip

Nitpicking-

If you're going to Aria from Bally's or Bellagio and you take the tram, you're doing it wrong. Just walk.

I don't agree, if you are in the Bellagio and you take the tram to Monte Carlo, you are literally right at the poker room. Much quicker than the walk IMO.

Depends on where you are in Bellagio to start. From the tram station itself, sure. But most people who are at Bellagio aren't chillin' at the tram station.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

There's a prop bet to be had, because I'm not even sure it's quicker if you take the tram to Monte Carlo once you factor in the average wait for the tram. I'd contend that the time it takes an average human to walk from the spa tower's gift shop at Bellagio is shorter than the tram. You would have to catch the tram in the station to win that way. Or maybe I just walk fast.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

I'm pretty sure walking is faster over a decent tram wait-time sample size, willing to bet on that side of it if a prop bet is discussed.

Also - Breaking news: The IP logo has been replaced with The Quad logo on the Total Rewards reservation calendar.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

This might be a dumb question. But if I plan on playing for my room with TR credits, do I tell them at check in? Or do I talk to the TR desk about that? Also, I have a $161 deposit right now I'm on room pending credit card? I assume that doesn't go through until after my stay at Ceasars and if I pay for it with TR points it won't go through at all.

Thanks.

Just mention during check out that u want to pay with comps. They will even refund the deposit from when u first booked the room.

I also believe u save money when paying with comps since they can't charge tax on this.

Just stayed at Flamingo and wasn't in a GO room for once. I got a normal room facing the strip. The room was renovated and really nice compared to the unrenovated room I have last year for a few days.

The floors are no longer carpeted but are the fake hardwood which makes them look awesome and stylish. They are also comfortable and clearly easier to clean than dingy carpet.

The bed was comfortable and had a red/pink throw on it to make it look cool. Three lamps in the room were also decorative and stylish. Bedside tables, headboard, and dresser were all old and cheap looking. Flat screen TV was only 32 inch but there is a very stylish lounging couch and plenty of room to make the room look spacious.

The window is an entire wall and is floor to ceiling. But the window is super dirty from the outside which I guess is a result of the nearby construction. The view is great though looking at Caesars with Bellagio and Mirage anchoring the sides of my view.

Bathroom is okay but the shower is a tub and is small with old looking and cheap shower curtain. Overall, it is a great value for the price which was about $10 during the week.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Yea I'm staying in fab deluxe room at flamingo next week for $10/night, glad to hear its a decent room. I've been bouncing around, stayed at Rio several times for $20/night which is always nice unless you get put next to the zooming elevators or trash dump noise and have to switch rooms, lol

Stayed Riviera for 3 nights for total of $75 with no resort fee and 2 free show tickets and $10 slot play, did that twice and lost my $10 and $25 match play both times, roulette is rigged lol. Saw crazy girls which was ok and the comedy show which had Jimmy JJ Walker and another guy, they were both funny, JJ is 65, yikes.

Stayed LVH for $40/night on a weekend that was ok, rooms are kind of old but nice window and view.

Been getting some good deals using Hotwire when I can't find the Harrahs deals, got Bally's for $15/night next month, actually got the LVH deal on kayak.
