Was a little concerned given it's always the cheapest option and still has a bit of IP reputation.

Check in was done at a kiosk with no line, 2 minutes.
I've seen people moan about walking miles to the room or lifts, and waiting ages for a lift. I never waited more than a minute for a lift, usually less than 20 seconds, and casino floor to room was about 2 minutes total.
Corridors have been completely redone, I'm not saying the decor is nice, it's not, but it's clean and that counts for a lot.
Room itself was much better than I expected. Bed was probably the most comfortable I've had in vegas, but I don't like really soft beds. Room had a fridge and decent sized safe. Bathroom was new, tv was new. Furniture was obviously low quality (ikea/chipboard type stuff) so I'd expect it will show wear quite quickly, but right now it's all fine.
Very little noise from adjoining rooms or hall.

Casino itself was clean and tidy, felt very young, didn't have the hoards of 60+ year olds chain smoking or families dragging kids around. Didn't spend any time there but it wasn't a chore to walk through, and that's a big plus in my book.

Overall I will definitely stay here again if looking for a cheap hotel. Previously Bally's was my goto but I think linq is better in every way and cheaper too.
Been trying to decide between Bally's or The Linq for my trip in August. Going to have to try The Linq for the first time I guess!

Is the Linq really any good? I still think Imperial Palace when I think of the Linq so have never considered it...

It doesn't look, or more importantly, smell, anything like IP did inside.

Its poker room usually has a pretty soft field, and theres a bridge connecting the casino to bellagio, so its a pretty good location
The bridge is gone, a few years ago.

Depends on who you're going with. If you're going with some bros or by yourself it's a great spot to be. If with the gf I might look elsewhere.

I also stayed at the Cosmo last trip. Even the standard room on the far side has ruined most rooms for me. Personal balcony is amazing. Luckily I lost most of my money there so they're happy to give me free rooms for next time.

AFAIK, there was never a bridge straight from Bally's to Bellagio. There was, and still is, one from the street in front of Bally's to Bellagio. What went away a few years ago was the moving sidewalk that went from the entrance of Bally's to the bridge. Instead there is now a winding path through little sidewalk shops, which slows the path even further.. Probably that is where the confusion is coming from.

lol it was just a moving sidewalk to the actual LVBLVD sidewalk. You still had to go up the escalator and walk over LVBLVD to get to Bellagio. Now instead you have to walk a bit to get to that escalator. There was never a direct Bally's <-> Bellagio access.

Haven't been in a couple months but I don't see how they could get rid of it. Simply walk through the front doors of Vdara and it will be right in front of you. Where did you go?

To walk from Vdara to Bellagio, walk between the cafe and Starbucks up the slight incline, out the doors over the small bridge and in less than a minute you reach the back doors of the Bellagio spa tower.

Im not sure what happened. I used to do the walk all the time, but when i tried a few nights ago i went out of aria and made my way to what i thought was the vdara entrance but it was now valet parking entrance. I was slightly drunk so may have done something wrong, but i was so confused and just ended up walking the strip

Sounds like you went out Aria Main Valet instead of North Valet. Pretty hard to get to the strip from North Valet without taking the staircase or elevator down by fire station/Cosmo, something you would have probably remembered.

I was at Vdara a week ago, nothing has changed.

He either went out the front to main valet or he went downstairs to north valet pickup rather than upstairs where the north valet drop-off is (which is the way to Vdara). Alcohol claims another victim.

So I´m going to vegas for the first time on february 7th next year. I´ll be in town for a full week and traveling alone. I enjoy playing casual poker, small stakes 1/2 NLHE. I already have my flight booked, and now looking into hotels. I was wondering when and where to book for best prices, since I am on a budget. Thinking max 1500 for hotel. I´m strongly leaning towards the Linq mainly because of location and price, and it seems to be a small upgrade from Harrahs and Ballys. Including resort fees the cheapest room now is $1125 through hotels.com. I might get about the same rate through smartervegas, and would be eligible to try the $20 trick, which would be fun.

Is this an ok deal?

Thanks a lot guys. If you need some more information just tell me. Like I said I'm a first timer and I know little about Vegas other than what I read on these forums (which is quite a bit I guess).

edit: Oh, and I'm visiting all the way from Norway :-)

Caesar's is currently advertising a semi-annual sale with 25% off their room rates at all their properties, but you must have a Total Rewards card to access the sale prices. You can do sign-up for one online and then try to book your room directly.

I just did a fake booking at the Linq using your dates (checking in on Feb 7th for 7 nights) and came up with a total price of $939.68 including resort fees, so that would be about $185 cheaper than your current rate. Here's how it breaks down:

Tuesday, Feb 7 - - $92
Wednesday, Feb 8:$92
Thursday, Feb 9---$84
Friday, Feb 10 ----$ 92
Saturday, Feb 11-$108
Sunday, Feb 12----$92
Monday, Feb 13----$76

Subtotal: $636
Resort Fees: $203
Taxes: $100.68

TOTAL: $939.68

You have until August 29th to book using this promo, so you still have time to shop around.

+1

Very good advice, this is what I did on my first trip to Vegas. I found Total Rewards to have rates significantly lower than all other booking sites.

Thanks for great tips with the semi annual sale. I signed up for the total rewards program and used the promotional code, but for some reason I'm getting other prices than you are;
Tue. 02/07/2017:$153.33 $103.50
Wed. 02/08/2017:$153.33 $103.50
Thu. 02/09/2017:$140.00 $94.50
Fri. 02/10/2017:$115.00 $103.50
Sat. 02/11/2017:$135.00 $121.50
Sun. 02/12/2017:$153.33 $103.50
Mon. 02/13/2017:$126.67 $85.50

with a total of $1028 including resort fees and taxes. Any idea why? This is with these promos;

Promotion: Travel Industry Insider Rates - Applied

Everyone gets different rates based on their internal rating (i.e. play).

I have found best rates tend to be 9-12 weeks out from your trip and booking on a Tuesday or Wedmesday. I would use a site that allows you to cancel with no penalty if not booking direct. If you book through Total Rewards you just call them when the rates drop and they will adjust the reservation pricing. Pricing can change twice during a day so just keep your eyes open. I prefer to book direct with TR or Mlife since the reservationists are so willing to adjust the rate without rebooking.

My rates are not applicable since we travel a lot but for reference right now for the 7 nights total (with taxes, resort fees waived) range from $54 at Harrahs to $354 at PH, $403 at Paris and $947 at CP. The Linq only had a suite for $1354 for the week so you might want to try other properties than Linq.

At least you have chosen a good weekend, between the Super Bowl and Presidents' Day holiday.

I was in vegas last week. Stayed at ballys but stayed a night with someone at the linq. Rooms seemed comparable but the linq had a nicer bathroom

As Lattimer wrote, everyone gets different rates based on their play. Since I haven't really spent much time gambling in any Caesar's property over the past year other than a few poker sessions, I assumed that the rate I saw would be the same as (or similar to) any newly-registered TR player. I guess I would receive a small additional discount on top of that. But at least my suggestion will save you about $100 from your Hotels.com rate.

Glad I could be of some help to you.
