The interesting line in there was "hotels and motels purchased by the state in recent days"

Does that mean properties that were not currently functioning under the flag of any of the chains and were, otherwise, vacant/for sale? Or are they saying they are essentially booking the rooms that were vacant due to the lack of traveling public using them?

If the former, then it should not impact future travelers. If the latter, then the property will likely go the route of apartment complexes that have seen increasing numbers of low-income subsidized residents...

Any advice for semi nice places to stay in vegas for cheap? So far when doing research, it seems like best prices are excalibur, westgate, strat, harrahs, luxor, circus circus, etc.

I'm just looking for a place that might have a few solid restaurants, breakfast on site and is relatively safe (im guessing all vegas spots are safe). Also most prefer being semi-close to venetian because i'll be playing mtts there (5-10 min uber ride would be fine for me honestly).

Based on your listed properties go with Harrah’s, pretty much next door to the V and is a good place with food and entertainment. All the others are a hardy walk or the cost of Uber will add up. Check out flamingo and Bally’s as well, prices should be close to Harrah’s. Also close to most other poker action on the strip

Ballys renovated a tower, i stayed there and the room was the biggest standard room I've stayed in. Harrahs newly renovated room is nice. Flamingos go room overlooking pool is ok and the renovated "flamingo" room is good.. paris room is just ok. If you have diamond card from caesars thefe is no resort fee.

Out of those Harrahs for you. Look into Flamingo, their small poker room is now open.

1) no
2) no
3) no, slums
4) ok as someone mentioned, best casino of the bunch and best location for what you want.
6) hideous place imo
6) absolutely not unless you just go for steak dinner

There is also Treasure Island which is across the road from the V.

So to me based on what you want. It has to be Flamingo, Harrahs, Ballys, or Treasure Island.

Treasure Island is in a different (better) class than the others, imo.

If you're going in the near future, try to find an extra couple hundred bucks and stay in a nicer than bottom of the barrel place. Reports from multiple forums are talking about the low prices attracting some real low-life. Assuming you're not said low-life, you'll be a lot happier spending a couple hundred more right now.

Haha I go to AC a lot so the riff raff doesn’t bother me. I’m going to play poker so I’m not really picky about how nice the room is/ I don’t plan to do much other than play poker and sleep at night. Spending extra money to have a nicer room means nothing to me. I would rather have the $ to play more tournies or cash vs sleeping in a better bed lol.

Thanks for the info. Probably will stay at harrahs. I find the harrahs inn AC to have solid rooms and decent restaurants. Thanks for the info. Anyone stay at the linq btw? Just from location, I prolly would choose between linq and harrahs.

I have stayed at rhe Linq before and staying there this weekend. Usually a younger crowd than Harrahs. Gambling area and remodeled. Next to Flaimingo who has their poker room open from thursday to sunday. The pool is lively with a DJ.

Harrahs / Linq both adequate to sleep... best part is proximity to quality poker rooms. A short walk and you're there.

As for food, quality poker rooms will be near quality food . . . at the very least, you'll walk past good food on the way to quality poker.

wow, can't believe this thread hasn't had traffic for 18 months

planning 10 days for wsop and want to stay at a good value premium/top second tier property close to paris/bally's. Venetian is my standard location but it would be convenient to be less than a 15 min walk

has anyone stayed at the Cromwell? I'm getting a good price on it at Total Rewards - 50% less than Aria and Bellagio. Would appreciate any feedback?

my priorities are room comfort & noise, good fitness center, decent pool.

Haven't stayed there, but have heard consistent noise complaints about it.

I stayed there when it was Bill's many years ago in a Flamingo road facing room, and even high up, the number of loud Police, Fire, and Ambulance sirens driving by was insane and loud.

Maybe the new rooms are better. In any case I would avoid rooms facing Flamingo road.

I think someone said there is a club on the roof that gets loud also.

I stayed there for 3 nights in July of 2019. I really liked it. The main downside was that there was no view and it was a fairly dark room. We did ask for a room not close to Drais, but we weren't that far away (a floor below) and I didn't notice much noise (or from the street for that matter).

The pool was nice, but we didn't go to the gym.

I would probably have stayed there again, but the prices were always a lot higher than PH and sometimes Caesars.

thanks everyone for your comments - I went on trip advisor and there were a lot of complaints about the noise from the club and also due to thin walls

To your point re pricing Randal - yes, me too…it’s always looked really expensive but right now I’m getting 110 per night for 8 nights on TR which is less than Harrahs and PH and half what they’re asking for Caesars (Caesars seems to me to always be the worst value property on the Strip, although I’ve never stayed there)

IDK the rooms look great and the value seems good and the location would be tough to match, but I’m a real Princess when it comes to noise at night and I’m not sure I can risk it

Maybe we got lucky with the noise, but then again Cosmo has a noise issue with Marquee and any ambulance within a mile radius.

The great thing about Cromwell is that it's a few minutes from your room to the strip (and as you noted the location is very good).

I would post some pics, but I think a quick google search will show that the rooms are nice.

Yep, prices seem up across the board on my searches

Which is part of the reason I’m looking at Hilton Elara Grand Vacations. It’s cheaper by far than all of the mid tier and top tier casino rooms, is well located for wsop and has a kitchenette and fridge which…will save more money and be convenient given I’m staying 9 days.

I’m a little worried about the lack of vibe and energy staying in a hotel but not a resort because it’s a vacation for me more than any kind of work trip but it’s really close to PH and I’m thinking the benefits outweigh the drawbacks

Anyone stayed there? Thoughts?

Any place that is NOT a hotel casino resort will NOT have a hotel casino resort "vibe". Also, consider the distance if you are planning to walk anywhere from where you are staying.

That said, Elara is a pretty good choice and not far off the mark from the "vibe". Stayed there once during a conference at PH ....Considering the benefits of ts location, take it versus any non-Strip location.

Have a good trip

Haven't stayed at Elara but just booked 9 nights at Vdara which is all suites, no Casino. I have stayed there before and its great - nice and quiet, but right next to Aria and connected by tunnel to Belagio. Figure I can get morning exercise walking to WSOP and uber back at night. Also not sure about Elara but at Vdara can order groceries from vons.com and have them delivered to your suite. I would call to confirm at either place though that its still cool.

I snagged 3 comp nights in a Vdara Studio with Fountain View which I'm looking forward to checking out this summer.

I usually stay at Pallazo but I'll be staying mostly at Bally's for WSOP. I think the property is perfectly fine and I like their little coffee shop which gives comps to Diamond Plus people.

I would typically stay at the Rio for the WSOP so this is going to be a nice step up!

It is discussed on another thread on here but I think it's well worth it the stay on property for the world series myself if it's doable.
