Stratosphere is a dump, isolated, and far from the rio. The upstairs bar is kinda cool and has a good happy hour (worth a visit imo), but I wouldn’t stay there.

I just got back from Vegas yesterday after staying at cosmo, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if the budget allows it and traveling with a lady. There’s obviously other nice/nicer hotels but cosmo has premium location and the fountain view room is totally worth the $.

If I’m staying by myself I’ll probbaly shoot for mirage and try to tip for an upgrade. I’ve sworn off CET properties after staying st the Rio and Harrahs on past trips. Would rather just stay home.

have seen in recent news Strat has put a significant amount of money into the property (including rooms) but the location is still turrible until Resorts World and whatever else is done

plus the Denny’s across the street closed

you have a deece sweat on encountering some unsavory characters between Strat and Peppermill/Tacos at night, and also between there and Wynncore property

kinda old news to this forum but i stayed at Gold Coast back a few months and people were right, nice rooms and relatively easy in & out

if the prices are anywhere near each other i’d go GC ainec

I’ve often wondered about Cosmo and am going to Vegas with the wife for a special occasion three days in May. It always seems so more expensive than other premium properties (for me at least - I have m life and Wynn Insider) - would you pay more to stay there over Wynn/Encore, V/P?

I've only stayed at the V once and it was around 7 years ago, I've played at the Wynn but never stayed there, so I can't really comment about the rooms other than that the Cosmo fountain view bedroom is by far better than the V suite I had. The balcony + view is incredible, there's a pic in my TR if you want to see https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...-wife-1731660/.

As far as the casino goes, cosmo is definitely a younger crowd overall, but it doesn't have that Hardrock/PH bachelor party vibe, and it's not so young that older couples would feel out of place. I would say it's just as nice as the Wynn, but with a different style. Wynncore is pure luxury to every detail, Cosmo has its own brand of swanky luxury that I kind of prefer when I'm in party mode, but that comes down to your personal preference. That combined with the location, I just have no desire to stay anywhere else, but if you don't wander much, obviously not a factor.

If you have a good status at one of the other properties I'd hit up a host and see if you can get a comparable discount since you want to try it out. Don't do anything less than a terrace studio + view.

To actually answer your question: If you spend any time in your room at all, I think the balcony + view is worth paying more if W/V don't offer that. If you're up 19 hours a day, then no.

I would say it depends on your age and where you plan on going. Cosmo feels a bit douchey imo, and caters to a younger crowd. I mean the connercials they ran were so douchey it was pathetic. I’ve never stayed there, but I can say that I don’t find the value for the cost. I can stay at Aria/Vdara basically next door for quite a bit less and be happier. This is a choice for being middle strip which makes it easier to get to other properties if you want.

When it comes to a trip with the wife, it’s Wynn no questions asked. As noted, it is pure luxury all the way around. When there, we rarely leave the property, so being on the north end of the strip isn’t a problem.

Stay pretty much anywhere but there.

Thanks guys, appreciate the detailed input

Wife and I stayed at Wynn soon after it first opened and she loved it. That was her last trip to Vegas.

I’ve stayed at V and P the past 4 World Series and really enjoyed the room of the P and the vibe of the V.

I had decided to stay at Vdara next time I’m there for the wsop because of the in room kitchen but for 3 nights with wife it’s about her getting the full Vegas experience with nice environment, restaurants and pool etc. I’ve always been interested in Cosmo but can get WynnCore for cheaper so it seems like they are a better option

In my late 20s and early 30s I loved Cosmo. Now, in my mid 30's, I'm a Wynn guy. I suspect this is a pretty typical progression.

How are the blackjack/craps limits on an average weekend night at Wynncore these days? Last time I was there, which was maybe 5 or 6 years ago, the $25 blackjack table was swamped the way a $10 table would be at a less pricey place, and had to play $50.

Yep I agree. Cosmo rooms are super nice though - plus the balcony.

Depends on the day of the week/ specific weekend. We were at the Wynn in early Dec, and they had $10 craps every night Thur-Sat. I didn't see any 21 tables less than $25, but there were several of them. Didn't get over to the Encore.

Makes sense to me. It’s funny, when I was younger I always wanted to stay in a big suite. I thought it would be awesome, but couldn’t afford it. Now that I can afford it, I don’t see the value in it or the need for one. Although I do find value in paying for Aria/Vdara, and Wynn when with the wife, over lower tier properties. With that said, I mainly play poker at Aria and prefer to stay where I play. I am also in my late 40’s and don’t party like I once did.

Anyone been in a Mirage suite lately? Last time I was there - 3 years or so ago - it seemed dated and tired. Tons of space and nice bathroom though. Got an offer for suite + some room credit just wondering to give it another try vs regular rooms at other MGM properties. Thanks.

I know they upgraded at least the regular hotel rooms a couple of years ago. Lot more aluminum and glass, if that makes sense. Nice enough if you like that decor. Dunno what they did with the suites, but I'd assume it's similar.

Im planning to go to Vegas this year again for WSOP and looking for a flat

Last time I stayed at Rio, and I just hated, i like to cook my food and prepare some health things...

I ck at AIRBNB some places in front of RIO, its a good deal (there is some other site I can research about rooms)?

Gonna need a car to go to WSOP? if possitive, the best way is get at the rentals at airport? or there some better price for long time period?

Thank you

VRBO is another service like Airbnb. Their fees are a little higher, but you might find different properties.

Renting a car at the airport is easiest. Personally I use budget and find them to be lower than most. Whoever you use, I would create an account with them as you will most likely getter rates being a member. I know I do.

Best for long-time: Probably Turo (find a good host). Second best: Internet booking (use different search engines). Worst (highest price): At the airport counter. Sometimes you can also save by renting at a different location in town and uber/lyft, esp for longterm

FWIW Book it way in advance - and then watch the sites for deals - I have found that Enterprise has very good pricing from a name establishment I have a car for 12 days all costs (taxes and fees add up and are a drag) for $460. So they aren't giving them out like candy but its a reasonable deal for an extended stay. The upside with these is you can also check and get a BETTER deal with them later if they drop the price. I saved almost $150 last year for a similar stay when I caught a "sale" about two weeks before my trip.

thoughts on hooters or harrahs?

Hooters is probably 1 out of 5 stars. I would never consider staying there. For the location all the through the list it is terrible. Avoid at all costs.

Harrah's ls very low end but the location is good. For what you seem to need it for as per the other thread I would say it would be fine.

The new Harrahs rooms look really nice but the property overall is tired, smelly and full of low rent customers. Plus tiny pool, really ****ty gym and very smoky common areas.

Even if you’re a ‘just need a cleanish bed to sleep in’ type, your Vegas experience will be diminished to at least some degree by your entry and exit from the building.

I will say though, that I’ve had a good meal in the steakhouse and the piano bar was a fun and unpretentious place to get drunk

Cannot ever imagine staying at Hooters and would rather stay in a nondescript motel off the strip

I have 3 comped nights at MGM Grand West Wing King...Reviews look mixed at best...Should I avoid at all cost and pay for an upgrade....I'm by myself but don't want to hate the room.

The West Wing rooms are substandard, on the ground floor off the casino and you do not have a window so I would avoid these rooms.
