Staying at the Luxor, premium tower suite, whatever that means. My last stay was at the palazzo so I'm not expecting anything as nice as that but I'm just praying for not another dirt pile like my stay at ballys last year in the indigo tower was. I might switch to Mandalay bay but not sure it's worth it.

Is there any good-ish poker 1/2 and 2/5 on the Mandy Bay/Luxor end of the strip? Far better deals there the week I'm going but I'll be by myself for a couple of days and don't want the poker to be bogus. Poker is great in the Mirage/Flamingo/Caesars/Bellagio area.

Mandalay bay has a good poker room and you can get some real fish in there. However, if there is a list it can take a while suggest checking on Bravo and/or calling ahead. You also have Luxor, Excal, MGM and Aria on that side of the strip.

Holy crap, Tuscany Suites has a $24 resort fee?? That's ballsy. What's "resort" about that place?

They probably need to have a resort fee in order to stay competitive on base price.

Based on several mini comments about the Gold Coast being decent, and next to the ario, I booked this years stay there..... Stay lasted all of 4 minutes. Dirty, dusty, small, carpet 150% worn out... People, are you kidding me???? This is the biggest dump I have ever almost stayed in.... Unless your a hillbilly, stay away. That place needs 100% renovation. Kudos to the front desk quickly giving full refund, and prior deposit back..... Obviously this is a regular duty for them. Gross stay out of Gold Coast!

That's how it was on my past visits except for the dirty and dusty part. Maybe they have remodeled only part of the rooms and I got lucky this trip?

Even so, if that's the worst place you've stayed in, you're either new to travel or you have lived a charmed life.

I have stayed at the Gold Coast for the last 5 or 6 years at WSOP time. The rooms are small but ok for 1. No problems with ac or otherwise - don't care about the pool. Good parking and a short walk to the Rio. Checked TripAdvisor and they have a 90 percent positive (average or better) rating on 1203 reviews. Have 5 days starting Wednesday - $560 total including infamous resort fee and taxes. Town is booked solid this coming weekend for the EDC and rates are up everywhere. IMO GC is a good value. Will see for myself in 3 days.

On a related note, at 2 AM and no room, went over to Excabular..... And very leary..... But blurry eye tired. 12 night stay. I tell woman I need 12 nights, but want to see room. She says she will "hold room" and card number until I see room; then let me stay the night and call me the next day if I want to do the entire time. That my friends. Is customer service. 26th floor, tower 2. Room is dated, but very clean, large. Same rate as Gold Coast....... Woman at front desk calls me late in afternoon, asks if everything is to my liking...... Completes remainder of reservation, says to call her direct with any problems... Customer service at its finest

Good stuff Puckster, luxor/excal can be relied upon for a clean, cheap stay with good self parking access and soft poker

This trip I stayed at Paris and the room was fine but FWIW the rooms at Bally's Jubilee tower (recently renovated tower) are superior. This is a bit surprising considering Paris tends to be more expensive.

The Jubilee tower rooms are slightly larger and the Paris rooms are more dated. In a way the Paris rooms are a "classic" style that one could argue is more or less timeless but I would argue is dated. Paris does have a separate tub but it is nothing special (no tub in jubilee).

Obviously some rooms in Paris have fantastic views but my room had a terrible view of a nondescript rooftop. By comparison my Jubilee room had a partial view of the Bellagio Fountain shows as well as a full view of the Eiffel Tower and the Paris pool.

The Paris room was quieter (outside noise) which may have been due to location and/or structural advantages. However, if offered either room at the same price I would still select Bally's Jubilee.

Wonder if Tower 2 was built by MGM. Last time I stayed there, many years ago, the walls were paper thin (Circus Circus construction) and I ran bad wrt noisy neighbors.

June 27 - July 3 Choices

I currently have a comped room (just pay taxes and fees @ $140) at Harrahs for June 28-July 3. I was supposed to stay at my friends house on Saturday but he forgot he has a wedding in LA that night. I can keep my comped room and stay at the Rio Saturday for $160, but I planned on playing a MTT the next day at Planet Hollywood and didn't want to have to deal with checking in that day, so I was looking into just checking in somewhere Saturday and staying 6 nights instead of 5.

I have narrowed it down to the follow properties. I have only ever stayed at Harrahs before and it is so so.

All prices include tax and resort fees.

I have seen a lot of rave itt about Vdara but not much about Signature.

$1175 - MGM Signature One Bedroom Balcony Suite
$1055 - Vdara Deluxe Suite

$355 - Ballys Indigo Room King. All nights comped except Sat.
$369 - Harrahs Classic King

I am in my mid 40s and I am really looking for clean and quiet at night. Are the higher end properties worth that much more? I plan on spending a lot of time at Planet Hollywood playing in their tournament series. I also have a rental car at my disposal. And oh yeah, I have the money but I am also a cheap ass.

Thanks for any input you might have.

Seems interesting that you're now willing to pay an extra $800 to stay at vdara but weren't before this slight change of plan.

I would keep the room at harrahs, book a night wherever for Saturday, check out in the am and keep your bags in the car and check in at harrahs whenever you get a chance from the tourney.

But if $1200 isn't a big deal I'd stay at vdara - knowing full well it'll spoil me for my future comp play.

Why isn't staying at ph an option? It's probably my favorite Caesars property.

My whole plan was to do everything on the cheap. I have a free flight, car, 50k TR points, a free Buffet of Buffet for 2, multiple M Life meals comped and finally a comped room. However, the closer I get to my trip the more I want a nicer room than Harrahs.

I have been struggling back and forth between cheap or nice room, Cheap or nice room. Obviously I ultimately have to make the decision but figured I would ask for further input to help me out. I have stayed at Harrahs, Imperial Palace and Excalibur as well as Venetian, Caesars Palace and Encore. No brainier on which properties I enjoyed more.

PH is OK. For the 6 nights it's 550 for a standard king hip hop room, but it's a little noisy and a bit too younger of a crowd for me.

Since almost everything else is a freeroll I'd go with a nice hotel. Aria.

I know I have asked for a room at the end of the hall there in the past and I was put at the very end. There was a separate door to get into the last 3 rooms on the floor. It was very quiet down on the end. Granted it' only as quiet as your neighbors.

If you want quiet and don't mind off strip you can always get a Marriott property. Weekend rates are <$100 a night.

PHo condotel (can't remember the name). Very nice rooms/suites and very little sweating schlepping down the Strip to get to PHo.

Went to book Luxor (for $30/nt) on M-Life site for the 25th through the 29th. Click it and now says approx $145/nt. Uh, no.

Edit: The $30 rate was only good for the last night. FU!

Hey guys,

grunching a bit, I'm headed out 6/29-7/4, will be playing in a few of the Venetian deepstack events. My question is,

Mirage or Vdara?

Mirage is right across the street from Venetian, but doesn't seem nearly as nice as Vdara. Would be nice to not have a 20 minute walk/cab ride to and from every time though. Are the mirage rooms decent, or is Vdara worth the extra walk/cab? Want somewhere quiet and nice to relax after playing.

The GO rooms at Flamingo may be the best value mid-strip. Modern rooms, often cheaper than Bally's.

I'm a huge Vdara fanboy but I would stay at Mirage in your situation. But make sure you book the 2nd level of room there, I think they used to be called resort tower rooms. They're bigger, the bathrooms are nicer, and it's worth the extra $20/night or whatever.

Yeah your real decision is either keeping harrahs (which, ime, is close enough to the midrange hotels to just hold onto), or going higher range (vdara or aria).

It'd be pretty tough for me to pay $900 more for vdara over harrahs, but: a. I actually have a man crush on harrahs for some reason; and b. $900 is a decent chunk of money.

However, with a girl your answer is extremely easy.
