I was exaggerating a little, but IMO you're a LOT better off at a place like Flamingo or Tropicana. The Quad is a nasty depressing place. The resort fee is going to just about double your rate.

it comes out to like 35 a day with resort fee , i can spend more, but was just planning to play cards . sports bet, and thought the location for this was a good value in comparison to those casinos next to it.. in the end i might just book the wynn since they are offering me 109 a night rates.

You're doing something wrong if choices are Wynn and Quad.

honestly , i like to keep it low profile. have stayed at most of the higher end places when it gf's , ex wives etc... but as for me ,, i always felt happiest when getting a place downtown (binions, gn , el cortez) , during the tournies, and now that it got moved to rio , renting a car and making the daily 15 minute commute. i did a snap booking of this trip (along with a couple other trips following this ) , so its almost last minute planning.. i always have liked the wynn, as i liked the action there.. i know its not the M, aria , cosmo, hard rock , but im just as happy booking a room at el cortez and taking the deuce down to the cardrooms on the strip for the heck of it.

and now that i think about , some of my funnest moments in vegas was staying at a hostel 15 years ago on las vegas blvd and charleston (sin city) , with a constant turnover of french canadian and european backpacker chicks sticking around for 2-3 days and just wanting to have fun.. i think i was paying 18 dollars a day for a semi private room , while at the same time keeping a room at a real casino hotel.

So the choice is now Wynn, Quad or hostel?

Still thinking about my options. Too old now for an extended stay at sin city. Most likely I'll just do El cortez and rent a car.

Jesus, I don't know what people expect from hotel rooms, but in the couple of times I've stayed there I haven't had any problem with The Quad. The beds were beds, they were clean. Place is a dump, but you get a place to sleep in the middle of strip for nothing.

Clean.

That's a v strong and inaccurate description of quad rooms

That is what I was referring to earlier. I have never stayed there , as it's either a higher end joint or downtown for me (I prefer downtown) , but to serve it's purpose of playing cards. Playing an event or two at the Wynn classic , it seemed to me to serve the purpose.

I meant I am too old for sin city hostel. Not sin city itself. Even though 22-26 year old women are still in my sweetspot.

Is this accurate still though ? I mean it could have been true before the casino got bought out , but now it looks like cet wants to put some money behind it.

Renovations have only occurred in the casino floor.

Rooms have NOT been renovated

Basically.

I go by the rule that, if you can only afford the quad as an adult, you can't afford Vegas and need to get your financial priorities straight.

That's a great rule and it's dead on.

Yeah
Shouldn't go to a city where you can't enjoy all it has to offer.

Does that include the lows... Along with the highs.

No pun intended.

Going to vegas in a couple days, currently booked at Harrahs for 4 nights I can switch to Monte Carlo for an extra $40 total, is it worth it? Which property is better? Thanks

Is it a mostly poker trip? If you plan on playing at aria, bellagio, or MGM go with MC. If you plan on playing at Venetian, or want to party it up at the tables at PHo, Flamingo or Harrahs go with Harrahs. MC is the nicer casino and I think Harrahs is going to be undergoing some renovations. So much of what you asked is based on what you plan on doing on your trip and where you plan on doing it, so it's not an easy question to answer.

Also resort feea are $5 more / night at MC but offer a bit more than Harrahs.

Yeah, I agree. Ive never stayed at MC, but casino wise I like it and Close to aria, where i played most of my poker.

I'd pick Monte Carlo over Harrah's any day.
