Well, it's like 70 miles away, right? It's not "right there". Flagstaff is at 7000 feet in heavily forested mountains. The canyon is out on a desert plain.

I've been caught in blizzard conditions west of Kingman. Visibility was so bad I had to slow down to 20 mph in spots.
Why be a dick? People are excited for him, you aren't fine. Weird how some folks get their jollies. Ignore list for you.

I ignore a lot of people on here lol. Just thought it’d be a cool journey for me to post. So people can see and something for me to keep track of. I have my route plan and weather permitted I’ll keep the same one.
I’m not stressing about it

My tourney experience is a large variety. Most of it was at a local poker club. Range of 30-100 entries.
I have several larger cashes with 600+ entries.

My sample size was off my RunGood app. I played 92tourneys. Most of them single day MTT and cashed in 61 of them. Not a lot but I worked full time in 2017. It was any from 6-8 a month

Good luck on the new adventure! I'm excited to hear about the low stakes live MTT scene is like. What kind of ABI will you be looking to play?

Sounds like a great trip! What's the plan in St. Louis? Hollywood has the most action generally, Ameristar is close by and is decent as well. If you want some suggestions on other things to do, places to eat, etc., especially if you're interested in coming into the city, I'd be happy to help.

I am thinking I will be playing most of the daily's around the area. As many $100 +-, tourneys I can find. I will play pretty much every series that comes through as well. My average around here is between $60-$150, with the monthly mega that comes around all the way up to $400. but most of my action will be daily's around $100.

We are staying at the Hollywood there. It is only 6.5 hours from me and we plan to drive straight to it. Should arrive around 2pm. Check into the hotel. My plan is to explore the city. The gateway arch and maybe the civil war museum.
What other things would you recommend for first time visit? Food? I'm a chicken, burger kind of guy but open to anything thats good.

Thanks in advance

Head West, young man.

Sounds like a cool trip. Agree with what a previous poster said about Hollywood, CA. It's dirty(so go in expecting that), but still visit-able. And don't go to Commerce casino, because, afterward, every Vegas poker room will disappoint in comparison as far as table selection

Edit: Forgot you said you're a tourney player, so nevermind about the Commerce comment.

Good luck OP. Subbed!

Looking forward to updates from the Poker road trip and also once you get settled in Vegas.

I know you said you are a Tourney Grinder ... Do you play cash ever? If so, how often and what stakes?

Are you using your 11k life roll for poker interchangeably, or do you have a set amount that is carved out for your poker BR?

I do play cash but mainly when big promotions are running. My rungood app has a total of 198 hours played in 2017. Not a lot. Only a profit of 3.7 bb per hour.

That breaks up into 160 hours of 1/2 and 38 hours of 2/5.

The bank roll for poker is only 4K. Didn’t build a lot. I spent the year paying off things to have little debt for the move and making sure my life roll was more.
My hope is if I find a job and get a place to live. Transfer half the life roll to the bank roll.

But I’m not stressing. Just here to have fun at first

There is a newish casino, the first one for the Navajo Nation, just east of Flagstaff called Twin Arrows. Slots and a few table games, good for a bathroom break maybe.

The Museum Club in Flagstaff is a trendy bar with good food, drink and eye candy since it is a college town.

If the weather does drive you south down I-17 south of Flagstaff, there is a small poker room in Camp Verde called Cliff valley. Go on into Phoenix and Talking Stick Casino has one of the nicer poker rooms in the Southwest.

Good luck and carry a spare sleeping bag, food and water just in case.

Good luck, sir.

I do remember your thread awhile back. How did you lose the weight? I tried Keto and it worked well for me, I'm down to 189 from 246. I feel so much better.

Good luck on that drive LOL.

Also, I'm in KC and there are still pretty decent games here on the weekends.

I tried so many different diets. The one that worked the most for me was intermittent fasting. Basically I only eat between 12pm-8pm each day and just keep it around 1600 calories. I am trying to get to 220. Still a little work.

Nice job on your weight journey! The difference is huge. I enjoy my life so much more and feel so much better.

Just 6 more days now. I’m anxious and getting bored laying around the house. Just finishing some things. Car check up and talking to my bank. Looking forward to getting this started.

Thanks for all the heads up and advice. It all helps. The weather looks good for now. But I am from Ohio and I know how unpredictable weather can be.

I don’t have a lot of stuff so the car already has first aid materials, water, blankets and things already. Have to be prepared

Yes the IF is a huge part of my weight loss also. Mostly 16/8 and some 24hrs every couple weeks. I am eating about 2000-2200 calories a day and have been throughout.

Good luck and I'll be following this thread.

Hollywood is the best poker room in KC and it's literally less than 1 minute off of I-70 with a ton of food and hotels within 5 minutes. Ameristar and Harrah's are close together (5 minutes apart) but 15 minutes off I-70 and have nothing around them but a gas station.

All 3 are on Bravo. Good luck.

Good luck with the drive. I made it from NJ in October and had a thread about it.

If you are stopping in KC Hollywood had really good action on the Kansas side. I went south from there and loved New Mexico.

Drive safely.

This is confusing to me, as you said you will be there in mid-March. Did you mean the stadium? OR will you be hanging out in Colorado until the August pre-season games?

I'm pretty sure the arch is closed until July. I used to live in Illinois and visit STL a lot (die hard blues and cards fan) and have been to the arch quite a few times...I still keep up with the local news.

You might be able to walk around it/take pics but u won't be able to go inside and see the museum or take the tram to the top.

I don't know much about the area around the casino - it's pretty suburban and I don't spend much time out there. As for the city, there are a ton of good restaurants that are easy to get to from downtown/the Arch area. For BBQ, both Bogart's and Pappy's are excellent (I slightly prefer Bogart's). Southern (right next to Pappy's) has killer hot fried chicken and all manner of southern-inspired things, like a fried bologna sandwich with Pimento cheese that is awesome. Juniper is in that area too - A little higher end but very good regional American food. If you want burgers, there are plenty of good places. One place that you could hit on the way back from the Arch/downtown is Hi-Pointe Drive-In - it's a fun, casual spot with killer burgers and sandwiches. The red sauce Italian joints on the Hill are fine if you're into that, but IMO they're nothing special.
