Hey all! You guys probably don't remember me. It has been a long time since I have posted on here. I made some commitment to move to Vegas in a year and had a few TR on here as well. Nothing to special, nothing like this.

Well anyways, the time has come. I had goals, lose weight and save money. I accomplished both. I once weighed 331 pounds and currently weigh 243 pounds. I have my life roll of 11k saved. surpassing my goal of 10k .
I quit my job at the end of January and for the last month I have been losing more weight, playing poker and planning the move.

Just a reminder, my goal is not to go out there and play poker for a living. While I will be playing poker, I want a part time and maybe a full time job with good hours. Down the road if Poker has worked out for me, maybe a full time switch to poker. I am a tourney grinder. I have a 66% cashing in the tourneys I play, with FT about 6.8% of the time. My plan is to grind MTT out there.

Maybe some of you can help with my journey. My plan is to drive across the country with two good friends. Making stops in major cities and areas I want to see. Different casino's in different cities. I have the route planned already.

Leaving March 11 from Centerville, Ohio. Making a drive to Hollywood casino St. Louis. Going to explore the city, as I have never been there and play some poker during the night. This first part of the trip is nothing.

The following day wake up and driver just 3.5 hours to Kansas city. Harrahs to be exact. Check out the WW1 Museum and some other sites there and more poker.

The next day will be miserable. Check out and drive 9.5 hours to Blawkhawk Colorado. A stop in Denver to check out my favorite team, the Broncos. Stare at the Rockies and spend the night as the casinos in Blackhawk.

Another ****ty day. 10.5 hours to Flagstaff Arizona. No casino here. Jsut want to see the Grand canyon and go a little south of Vegas because of our next destination.

Leaving Flagstaff, we will head to Cali. Hollywood to be exact. Staying just ten minutes from the walk of fame. Spending three nights there. So much to do and I have never been. Walk of fame, Ripleys museum, Venice beach, Museum of Death and universal studios. Maybe drive to the Bike or another casino. But not worried about it.

Finally, on March 18th. Drive to Vegas. I have 5 nights comp at the Rio and will use that time for finding temporary housing and hopefully some interviews scheduled as well. Maybe some poker here and there.

Long trip with total of 40 hours of driving. But with 3 of us should be a breeze. Seeing things I have never seen and just having fun.

In Vegas I am looking for a month to month place. no reason to ask for this as I have explored the many threads about these already. The job is where you guys might be able to help.
A little bit about me
28 with many experiences. I was sales consultant for Carmax for 5 years. Selling vehicles and training new people when they were hired.
I ran sound for my church for 8 years.
Most recently I was the shipping and receiving supervisor for a recycling center.

I am open to pretty much any jobs initially. Anyone on here have contacts or are hiring themselves? Feel free to send me a message and I will send my resume and we can chat.

Thanks for reading. I don't think I left anything out. I plan on leaving March 11th. So this will be a cross country and vegas TR to. So expect lots of pictures and stories.

I have been to vegas a few times but only flew. I have never driven further than Indy, so this will be new to me. I have driven 16 hours straight to Florida. I plan on driving the first two legs. The next three sections will be broken up. My friends are not much of morning people, so I will probably start morning shifts and they do the second part. Mobile hot spots with laptops and tablets will make it an easy ride.

I was not very good with my TR, but I will do my best to get pictures on here. Will need some reminders to keep up on it lol.

This has been the thread I have been waiting for too, took a little longer than planned but I wanted to do it right.

Also, Hollywood is a total ****hole. Go in with that knowledge to lessen the disappointment.

GL man. Ok I lived out West for many years and am very familiar with your route in the West. I would recommend a more southerly route. Colorado is a beautiful state, no doubt about it. Definitely worth seeing. However, Denver weather is volatile and can be brutal this time of year. I have been to Denver a lot, have friends there. I was there in late March one year when it was 70 degrees on a Saturday and on Sunday it was a blizzard. Driving down Monument Hill toward Colorado Spings was an adventure to say the least.

Flagstaff is another beautiful city. Love that town. It gets its share of winter weather which includes snow but I wouldn't try to avoid it. Remember the Grand Canyon is right there, very close to Flagstaff and it is definitely worth a side trip to visit. After Williams AZ only weather issues would be rain. Haven't been to SoCal/LA in awhile but know others who have and they say traffic is impossible. I actually had no problems driving on LA freeways but it has been awhile.

Good luck on your big life change! Everything sounds awesome but if it was me, I would go right to Vegas from Flagstaff instead of Cali, and take a side trip from Vegas to Hollywood some time later. You could use those 3 extra days as floating days on your trip driving out, in case you wanna stay an extra day here and there at different stops. Just my two cents : ) but most importantly have fun and be safe!

Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions. Lots was routes were take into consideration and this is my first time doing it so I am sure I made a mistake planning it. Lol

I did look into the weather for ten day forecast and everything looked to be in good shape.
Denver has been a dream of mine for some time so I can’t pass that up. Flagstaff was just point I picked so we didn’t have a lot of driving. There is no rush for me to get to Vegas. I’m unemployed lol. Just living life.

Extra days would be nice. But I already booked hotels at every stop for one night.

Dealer job is something I would be interested in. But I thought if you dealt you couldn’t play wsop events. Am I misunderstanding things?

And I am hoping I don’t vanish after this. But who knows. I could get out there and in a month hate it and drive back.

Good news is. My dad said I could stay with him and the job I quit was working for my brother and he said he would hire me back anytime.

9 more days until the fun happens

Hollywood cbus was my favorite room around here. I have been a frequent player there. Mostly cash, except when they had their big tourney series.

I fully expect to run into some issue and not be able to make my time table. I do appreciate the ideas. Maybe I should of started this before I booked all the hotels lol.

My friends father is coming with us. He is an avid video poker player and has driven across country several times. He said just get in and go lol

I’m more of a planner. That’s why I booked hotels in advance.

The goal is to have fun and stay safe. The whole point. Might be the only time I make the drive across the country. If I make it out there and stay. I’m flying back for visits.

But like I mentioned. I could have a change of heart and hate it lol

ABQ and spots on I-40 way out in BFE can be nearly as bad. If you want to ensure missing snow you'd have to go all the way down to I-10.

Well, it's like 70 miles away, right? It's not "right there". Flagstaff is at 7000 feet in heavily forested mountains. The canyon is out on a desert plain.

I've been caught in blizzard conditions west of Kingman. Visibility was so bad I had to slow down to 20 mph in spots.

Denver isn't in the mountains, it's just near them. Better check the routes from Denver to Flagstaff - you go over some mother big mountains on the way. I've gone skiing in Colorado in June, and it snowed while I was there. I've also driven in snow in Flagstaff in March.

dude-why are you always soo negative-Denver is over 5000' elevation and like all the population centers on the front range, the mountains are always in view.

while I think I would take a southern route this time of year, he stated that Denver is a goal in an of itself on this trip, and if you had ever lived in Colorado you would know that-yes it could snow big on any of the days, but, (and this is important), the roads will all be clear THE VERY NEXT DAY. This guy is taking a road trip and has time to change plans if weather interceded, and all you want to do is rain on his parade.

OP, I say go for it and have fun, just be flexible if weather impacts your route.

Thanks for the input. I do appreciate all the advice as this is my first cross country trip. Maybe it will get screwed up but hey who cares. I’m in no time table. Lol

All I want to do is experience this. Take my shot. I don’t want to look back when I’m 40 and regret not doing it.

I’m here to have fun and live life.

9 more days!

Because he's not just driving to Denver. He's also going elsewhere. If he's going over the Front Range the weather is often not anything like what is in Denver. If he goes south to the Springs, the weather is often different there too. Denver is low altitude compared to where he might have to go afterward.

You missed the entire point-doesn’t matter if it snows as long as he is flexible enough to wait ONE DAY for most systems that will be going through in March. I am well aware of the conditions on the drive from Denver to LV (and Flagstaff for that matter) as I lived In the Springs for over 10 years and have made the drive myself at least 30 times during every month of the year.

You also missed where I said the southern route would be my choice-but you go ahead and keep pissing on this guys parade, your good at it
