I like a fun table and I do engage with the other players . . . but . . . there are some players who just don't understand the balance. That is when the headphones come in handy.

FYI - I am a rec player. I also think that I can spot those players who are trying to pretend to be "fun players, wild and crazy" as a way to get into my knickers; which I actually find more distasteful than those players who are more upfront about their reason for being at the table. A reasonably quiet game, moving efficiently is my personal favorite.
