Unfortunately, Harrah's will no long have a poker room. The poker tables have been removed for weeks so this is not a huge surprise. I have some good memories of playing there, shame to see it go, wish the former staff well!

If you happen to be staying at Harrah's Hotel the closest poker options presently are Caesars Palace, Venetian and Flamingo.

Not surprised, There were rumors of it closing before covid.

I forgot to check Bally's when I was in there. Does anyone know if its poker room still on the floor ready to reopen or is it packed up like Harrah's was?

Harrah's had possibly the worst location for a poker room I've ever seen.

You clearly never played at it then. it was great for low stakes rando traffic.

I thought the move out from the sports book to the main floor by the Mirage door was beneficial. For a while, the cash and MTT action was pretty inspired.

They just never seemed to get any kind of game going there that made it a destination or cachet. Mirage is/was known for 3-6 limit, Orleans for Limit Omaha, Bellagio for monster limit and NL games, etc. Harrahs was known for....nitty locals looking for some bottom-feeding, Short-stack tourists who would buy one stack and quit, etc. Nothing to build a solid base on. And the management seemed minor-league.

The entire casino is undergoing a sea-change. Some good: Fulton St. Market is top-notch, the buffet is completely walled up, a lot of the rooms have been renovated. Time will tell.

At least it was easily accessible for foot traffic from the Strip.

That's significantly better than that Caesar's poker room that was so far away from everything else that you had to know exactly where to to.

Yeah that's a fair point.

I was thinking more in terms of aesthetics. The room always struck me as being shoehorned in there as an afterthought.

Bally's is still intact as of today

I'm trying to remember where Harrah's is, and their poker room was.

Harrah's is the next north from Flamingo, right? Go from Margaritaville back through the outdoor band area, then into Harrah's, but I can't place the ex-room.

It is between LINQ(IP) and Casino Royale/Venetian

Tons of foot traffic. I thought the location was great. With a $500 max buy-in the 1/2 played pretty big. It will be missed

If you walk North from Linq through the Carnival Court, you hit Harrah's casino floor. Keep walking North through the casino and exit again, you're standing right in front of Casino Royale.

Lots of people walk through Harrah's instead of using the sidewalk when they want to go North on the Strip. You passed the poker room on that walk.

Looks like they have no plans to open anytime soon. No plexiglass.

Caesars was playing no plexi when I was there a few weeks ago.

by far the best place to play drunky poker was back when buffalo bills was around. that place had tables right on the sidewalk of the strip.

Bill's was great. Drunk cheap fun. Their overnight steak+egg special always hit the spot too. These places keep disappearing and getting replaced with more 5 star joints that nobody asked for. They were a big part of what made Vegas fun. Such a shame.

I'm confused. Has Harrrah's made an official statement?

Bill’s was the last place on the Strip that had 0.50/1.00 NL. They often had several tables going at once with an interesting mixture of local nits and drunk frat boys.

Fun times..

The other drunk-fun poker ‘room’ on the Strip was O’Sheas that had a $35 poker tournament every 3 hours.

Back when I started playing, I once cashed 4 of them in one day.

Not really that sick a brag since they averaged about 12 players per tournament and I doubt I made $500 combined from all 4 tournaments..

O‘Sheas had tables basically on the sidewalk of the Strip almost all the way til the end. Plus beer pong and a Burger King. Good times.

The fact that they boxed up the poker tables and shut down the room is their statement. Poker is at once the lowest revenue spot in a casino and one of the most dangerous of locations for COVID - not a good combo.

These small rooms bring in a crowd that puts hardly any money into the casino and its a wonder so many have lasted as long as they have.

Harrah's is where I had my first encounter with that weirdo in the hat and feathers who rolls the big dice.

I think I seem to play with him at the Nugget? Is that the guy I am thinking of? Duke or Earl or something like that?
