Treasure Island has offered special rates on their website with no resort fees, but I dunno if it'a available all the time. Overall, the place is fine - we usually stay at the Wynn or Bellagio because cabana, but we've stayed there fairly often and been happy. Great location.

Their no-fee rate is usually 15-25 bucks more than the fee rate, so you do save some money, but there are no "hotels" that I know of on the Strip w/out a resort fee. There are motels a block or two off the Strip, but most don't have casinos.

Doesn't Casino Royale always advertise "no resort fees"?

Just find a hotel which costs an amount you're happy to pay, and enjoy the extra time on the strip, imo.

Marriot Grand Chateau is a block off the strip and doesn't charge resort fees (or waives it). It's across from Elara, which is behind Planet Hollwood--a short walk to many Strip casinos. It's a nice place with no casino, and only valet parking (free). But it's not cheap, and paying the resort fees at some of the Strip casinos might be cheaper overall--you'll have to compare the relevant dates. Treasure Island usually charges resort fees.

Gold Coast is next to Rio and across from the Palms and has a free shuttle almost 24 hours a day to the High Roller.

My wife and I will be there next weekend and everything is 100% comped. We are not high rollers and gambled ~$400 a day for 5 days in February at The Orleans and downtown.

I will reply to this message on the room and all, but we aren't looking for the 20-something Vegas experience so there's that to consider.

Gold Coast has resort fees if you're not getting comped. Under $20 a day but it still has resort fees.

Gold Coast shuttle stops around 12:30 AM and begins again at about 9:AM. If traveling later cab/ride sharing . total resort fee is $23+.

Correct. It is only hotel on or near Strip that I am aware of without a resort fee other than that TI weekday deal. Four Queens downtown does not have one. OTherwise, you are looking at something non-gaming off-Strip or ones on Boulder Highway or in NLV.

I suspect that "resort fees" do not generate room tax liability for the hotel. (I haven't checked this, but it seems to make sense*. Of course it also gives an appearance of a lower room cost when presenting costs to search engines, etc. )

The best advice you can get is consider any "resort fee" as part of an overall cost of staying at the given hotel, then pick what you think is the best deal. You should get what you pay for, regardless of how it is labelled.

Stop over-reacting to how your cost of staying there is labelled. Would you prefer that portion of the cost to be called "tax-exempt cost of staying here" ?

Google is your friend, but here is a good link:

https://www.lasvegasjaunt.com/las-ve...es-2018-guide/

(*One source lumped resort fees in with room rates as subject to room tax, but I am not interested enough to go verify that.)

That’s not true for Las Vegas. You can see on hotel invoices that both room and resort fees are taxed at the same 13.xx%.

Funny, I don't recall what BS you are referencing. I invariably have back-up for fact I stated.

In this instance however I really had not bothered to look this up, felt it made sense* and so said I "suspected" something and added the express disclaimer. (No idea who you are or what you are calling out, I said I suspected something about resort fees, NOT that my suspicion was a "fact" sonny. Learn to read or go back to critiquing long-ago television shows..)

What I suspected was a differing taxation incentive in Nevada does not apply here, altho it does apply in markets like NYC.

Apparently, however a real target of "resort fees" in Nevada reportedly are booking services that only get paid a % of the "room rate". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resort_fee

Fair enough, I did not take the original complaint in that thread about "bad odds" to mean only over-juiced offerings. I was thinking about the possible opportunities to middle widely divergent offerings from different books. That clearly can and does occur from time to time. No, I do not bet sports nor own a sportsbook like our LuisGallo friend claims to, so let's just stipulate that I know "nothing about sports betting" and leave it at that. Feel free to ignore or correct my errors on the general subject.

What I actually do know you would have to pay for. Posting my comments online is a freeroll for you. Don't take it too seriously, but it is never just made up, albeit outside your frame of reference perhaps. You might learn something about a different perspective on the industry than yours. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave

2+2 should have an "ignore" button.

Certain posters could use it for each other.

That way the rest of us wouldn't have read through their bull elk testosterone competition.

Vegas hotels definitely charge customers taxes on the resort fees.

AFAIK I guess it's possible that they do this fraudulently and don't have to give it to the government, but this seems very unlikely.

I was wrong in my suspicion .....

What the "resort fees" do accomplish is to cut down on the yield to booking companies that get a % only on the Room rate, but not the resort fee, or so my link above to Resort Fees on wikipedia says.

It is a part of the room charge so the state and local hotel taxes apply. They are not doing it fraudulently. Your resort fee taxes are helping to pay for Metro Police, CCSD, fire, LVCVA, convention center expansion, as well as the Raiders stadium scam.
