My guess is that anyone with a draw on that wet board isn't folding anyway.

I agree with this. Typical rule of thumb for cash BRM is 25-50 buy-ins, so anywhere from $5k - $10k for 1/2. Even at 2/5 you shouldn't need more than $25k to play comfortably. Some players like to live more on the cautious side of around 100 BI, which I'm not going to knock as they're better set up for the swings; but it's not really necessary to have that many.

I would prefer to be overrolled for 1/2 because if I were to go on a couple of bad downswings, there's no lower limit I'd be able to, much less want to, drop down to.

Speaking of overrolled, bikeking hasn't updated this in weeks. Hope he's alright. The car thing can be dangerous. If I didn't want to touch my roll, I'd rather get a noon part-time job and have that pay for rent. Plus it provides a mental break. I know I could just put in more hours at the table instead of the part-time job, but there's only so much poker I could take. Definitely not over 40 hrs per week over an extended period.

Alive and terrible at keeping up with the thread, what else is new? Last couple months have been quite a blur of activity, if you'd prefer to keep updated via the VLOGs then just stop reading now.

One of the amazing pros of being a poker player is the freedom of schedule. What I've come to find out is one of the amazing cons of being a poker vlogger is the freedom of schedule. For editing the Vlogs, keeping up with this thread, working on more articles for PokerNews, the lack of schedule I've kept with them has led to very poor upkeep. I've been filming everything just gotten very behind on editing, recently cranked out a couple VLOGs to start to catch up.

So what's been going on, well after hanging out with Kassouf here in Vegas and LA, meeting Hellmuth and Mike Matusow, dinner with Pay Lyons and the CEO of WPT, Allen Kessler, Art, etc. it was back to the normal grind here in Vegas. LA with Kassouf was pretty cool, got to hang out in the room of the 25/50 game, even had Hellmuth look over and ask me what the spread was of the Alabama FL state game so he and Mike could bet on it. I can also say with certainty the persona you see Kassouf as on TV is 100% the genuine article, I watched as he tried for over an hour to speech play his way into a discount at G-Star, an upscale clothing store on Rodeo Drive, yes, that Rodeo Drive. He was unsuccessful as you might guess. "It's not every day someone comes in here and buys 2k worth of clothing is it?" "Yes it is sir." He bought me a nice shirt there for my patience in that lol.

So after that just mostly standard cash game grind for a month or so, I've never been much of a freeroll or promo chaser guy as I've thought game selection still held a greater EV over sitting in OMC reg games, but I saw both Bally's and Planet Hollywood offered entry into a $130 7.5k gtd. for 20 hours of play, so one upcoming VLOG is going to be me grinding both of those hours in a week. While the tournaments are ideal, I found greater value in Ballys. Much more rec/reg ratio as well as normally an overlay as opposed to hardly ever with Planet Hollywood. I expected my hourly to take a dip at least while playing at Ballys, but it was actually right about par, but that's over 20 hours so small sample, but the games are not nearly as bad as I had thought if you're able to adjust to table dynamics.

I've also started to play a few more daily tournaments into my normal grind. Yes, the structures are lol bad, yes, the rake is rape at best if not rape and murder, but yes, I'm profitable over the 59 I've played coming out with an hourly of $34 in them. Similar to cash games, I use game selection with care. The Aria $125 has by far the best value in terms of structure and money up top, but that also has some actual decent tournament players in it and is not the easiest on the strip. The fact is a lot of these "Multi-table tournaments" turn into one or two table sit N go's with re-entry. When I started playing online I was new to tournaments, and the #1 recommendation people had was play SNG to transition, so that's what I did dozens of them and then hundreds into eventually thousands over the course of several months. So ICM, push/fold, I'm very confident in my SNG game which is what a lot of these dailies are, turbo SNG with the option for the same fish to rebuy and likely sit back at your table. I think a lot of regs and decent players have played a handful of tournaments like this and simply determined "oh the structure is just lol bad, push and pray, you can't have an edge on this field." In a recent podcast Andrew Brokos, the OG nitcast that I got to meet this summer at his meetup, is talking with Christian Soto about late regging tourneys. "Yeah your edge normally shouldn't be that large when you reg with 20bb, but if everyone is terrible at playing 20bb, than your edge is pretty huge." That's essentially what these tournaments are, only instead of 20bb usually its 10, or 5, and yes, people still limp and raise fold off those stacks and try to play post. I'm confident 95% of rec players are unaware of how many BB they have at any point. Example: We had just combined two tables into the final table, full ring currently but only 4 paid. A lady UTG+1 limps off a 9bb stack, I'm MP with 99 and 13bb, I jam, folds back around to her who doesn't think that long and says "I don't know how you play." And folds jacks face up. So there's fairly huge edges sometimes despite the bad structure. That said, I still find cash to be a much more comfortable setting, and have gone on periods of not cashing 8 or 9 tournaments in a row which is well within standard deviation but even at the low stakes can have that "soul crushing annoyance" of playing so well and just running bad and making nothing.

There's still more to go over and update, but I've got to catch a flight, once I land I'll continue with part 2. Cheers guys (and gals)

My next vlog will be on this so and I hope to have it up within a week. My VlOG's name is bikeking19. The following will be in upcoming vlogs so if you'd rather watch them to keep up I'll spoiler tag it.
Spoiler:
So a little over a month ago I went to Saint Louis for the HPT with some of my friends. We're all in a Skype group together and one of them lives in Saint Louis so we stayed at his place for the duration of the series. There was actually less playing going on than I originally thought, he lived about 45 minutes away from Ameristar so I didn't put in that much volume, however, I did play a decent amount of cash as well as a few tournaments. For the majority of the trip things weren't going that great, I only had one decent cash session and had bricked the tournaments and sattys I played. The very last day of the HPT they had a $350 survivor as well as an $85 satty to that. There was some confusion over transportation there and the satty is pretty turbo, I ended up taking my friends car with 45 minutes until late reg ended going around 110 down the interstate. I barely made it to the satty and sat down with around 11bb, 1 in 5 got a seat. I was able to win a few crucial all ins and eventually got a seat to the survivor which had just started. There wasnt a very big turnout for the survivor, almost as many people entered that as they did the satty to it. 47 to 42 or something like that, but since it didn't effect the payouts really it didn't matter that much. I ended up winning a pretty big pot when AA held against JT on KQ7 for 70bb and after that I made my way to the final table where technically 6 paid but 6th was only $300 and 1-5 $1500, it was some pretty sick bubble play where you really needed a good knowledge of ICM in order to know if you should take what would normally be a good shove spot. I think I ended up cashing with 7bb after 6 got eliminated getting aces cracked against QT, flop T85, jam, call, turn 4, river T. That felt really good to not only turn a -$500 trip into +1k but to have turned $85 into $1500 by "winning" two tournaments, a good confidence boost.

After that it was off to FL for a week for my buddys bachelor party where we went up to Gatlinburg for a few days. I won't go too much into that, or actually, maybe I will there's a few intersting bits in here. We ended up hiking part of the Appalachian trail which I had never done before. That was a lot of fun, during this time we met a guy working for the AT called a "ridge runner." He was hired for 3 months to maintain a 70 mile section of the AT, 5 days on camping and hiking, 2 off, making around $500 a week. This really peaked my interest, I've always really enjoyed nature and had even considered pursuing being a park ranger before, this seemed like a really cool job where you could just take a few months off, hike and camp and bank away a few grand in the meantime as you dont really have too many expenses. So I got some information from him and once I got home proceeded to update my resume and compose a cover letter. This was the first time I've had "professional poker player" on my resume but I think I worded it fairly well and I was really pleased with how the cover letter came out as well. Typically they will do interviews in November and hiring in December so I should know in the near future if I got the job or not. I have no idea how many applicants they get nor how "hike crazy" you have to be to get the job, but I feel like I have a fair shot, we'll see.

Another interesting thing that happened on the way back we were travelling through Columbia, SC. It was night and raining, traffic wasn't that bad probably medium. I'm riding shotgun in a Toyota Tacoma with my friend driving and two others in the back. We're travelling along in the left when suddenly we see the cars in front of us slam on the brakes. We slam on ours and proceed to slide at 65 mph, it became clear rather quickly that we were about to smash the crap out of the Tahoe in front us. We slammed into them and hit them 3 times until we eventually came to a stop. Nobody moved at first unsure if we too would get hit from behind, but after a few seconds we all piled out. Amazingly everyone involved was OK, every airbag in the truck went off instantly and altough the bottom frame of the truck was within inches of the rear tire of the Tahoe, there was no buckling inside the cab. What happened was a cadillac sedan had lost control when accelerating on the on-ramp and spun around in the left lane, we hit the Tahoe in front of us which in turn hit the car in front of them. God was definetely watching over us, and this continued to show itself as I called my sister who happens to live in Columbia and we had crashed 5 minutes away from her. She had also just had a baby and my parents became grandparents for the first time and I was the only one who hadn't gotten to see him, so that was a cool little bonus even if we went a roundabout way to do it. Long story short my friends insurance covered the truck, we stayed with my sister that night and got a rental car the next day and drove the rest of the way home.

And finally the last part which will bring you completely up to speed. Not even before I leave FL to go back to Vegas I'm browsing around on Facebook and I see a post on one of the poker groups I'm a part of. It's from a long time pro which a 1.6 million hendon mob and impressive online results, he details that he won a package to the Punta Cana Poker Classic coming up on the 24th but isn't really interested in going and rather than selling it he'd rather give it away. So he gave his email and said simply email him why you thought you should go. So I did, I didn't even put all that much time and effort into it really, just recapped my story, linked my VLOG and pokernews articles and sent him it. A few days later he tags me in a post saying I won the package and emails me all the proper forms. Air travel was not included in the package but he said to email him the receipts for the flights and he would ACR me the money, which he did. So if you're unaware of the PCPC it's about a week series with a $1650 500k main event. The package included 6 nights at a 5 star all inclusive resort as well as a gift bag and entry into the main. The resort was pretty astounding and I captured some awesome footage for the vlog, I'm excited to put it togtether. A lot of my friends in the skype group were going as well as several other people from poker, Jeff Gross, Bill Perkins, Kristy Arnett, as well as a few pros that stream on twitch. I got to go snorkeling, deep sea fishing catching some mahi mahi, it was an absoulute blast, easily the best freeroll of my life lol. As far as the main went, ended up busting day 1a pretty gross. Called off a 5bet jam with AA, villian has JJ and it's a jack high flop for a 108bb pot late into day 1, so that would have been a pretty easy day 2 with a real chance at making a run, but poker doesn't give a damn about you or your goals lol. Staying in Punta Cana though is not bad when you bust, there's not really a downside there especially if you played well which I feel like I did. I'm about to board the bus back to the airport to fly to FL. My friend who had the bachelor party is now having his wedding and it didn't make much sense to fly back to Vegas on Tuesday and then fly out Saturday for a wedding in FL. I plan on probably playing some cash in FL, I was just looking at my calendar and other than the main event here it's been about a month since I've actually really played, everything has just been pretty crazily busy the past two months with much more travel than I ever thought I'd be doing as a 1/2 player lol. Well that should get you caught up on where I'm at currently and what's been happening, once I get back to Vegas I plan on creating a schedule so I have some semblance of structure in my life, I think it will definetly help me to be more productive in many areas I've been lacking.

Cheers.

I won't spoil the spoiler so...

Spoiler:
that sucks about the accident but it reminded me of a couple weeks ago while driving home from PA to NY in the rain, someone must have cut off a truck. He swerved into the car in front of me and I was able to swerve and maneuver away but I was going in between cars that were getting hit by the truck with debris flying all over. I heard loud crashes and I was convinced I was in an accident, but somehow I got lucky and was able to drive right out from in between all those cars without getting hit.

With my flashers still on, I slowed down into the right lane as I was saying to myself "I had to have gotten hit". So I pulled over to check but there was nothing. I narrowly escaped that accident.

Anyone know how to see the Vlogs past #6? I only see 1-6 here? Also, hold most of my hours in MGM rooms. Is the Diamond Club worth the time to get it? Just curious if the OP went that route?

Spike had hinted at it in his thread earlier, I have some pretty crazy news that now really has drastically changed my life.
I returned from Punta Cana to Orlando for a week for my buddy's wedding who we had the bachelor party for. I arrived at the airport, took the shuttle to the rental car company off-site, and proceeded to pay the couple hundred bucks for it. My card was declined which was weird since I have plenty of money in there, but figured maybe because I was traveling a lot they flagged it. I asked if I could pay cash and they said yes so I did and didn't think too much about it as it was already midnight and I had a long day. The next day I woke up and logged into online banking to see if an alert had been tripped. No alert had, but my account was cleaned out. I had a balance of around 43k combining my checking and savings account, and now I had nothing. Scrolling down my statement I discovered several international transactions via Western Union to India that emptied my account. So obviously the entire next week was spent constantly on the phone and emailing people trying to figure out how the hell my account was hacked and how to get it back. There are multiple compounding issues that make getting it back a big cluster****:
1. I had used Western Union in the past and had a history of international transactions to random people because when I first started playing online that's how I moved money until I discovered other alternatives with Bitcoin and Paypal. Even though I hadn't used them for several months, this "officially" counts as a history.
2. No verifiable income for the past year.
3. I got pretty good benefits with my bank in FL and was still able to deposit from here, so I just have cash deposits to an out of state bank and I'm "professional poker player." Looks sketch.
4. Talking to several law firms about taking on the case, obviously it'd have to be pro bono until it's resolved, and so I run into questions like: "what's your living situation?" "Where do you work?" Very hard explaining that you live a balanced and secure life as a homeless poker player.
5. A big issue is at the least the last 4 of my social was compromised. The bank claims under FDIC zero security breaches were on their end, and since they didn't compromise my social, then that's on me, and especially if I have a "history" of international transactions, they aren't claiming responsibility, which is where hiring a lawyer comes in, but as I said no luck. Small firms don't want to spend the time and labor working pro bono up front, large firms it's not really worth their time when I look pretty sketchy on paper. "Yes your honor this man is a professional gambler living out of his car in Las Vegas and only makes cash deposits to an out of state bank, clearly he's on the up and up."
6. No other thing with my social security number has been compromised, no one has tried to buy a car or open a bank account etc. It'd almost be better if there was as I could point to more foul play, but as of right now this is the only thing.
7. The transactions were daily and were all under 10k apiece, so that kept it off the federal radar.
8. This happened when I was out of the country, and I had told my bank I was traveling so there were fewer restrictions on my account that wouldn't trigger an alert.
9. The bank says they did call me after the first transaction went through, but I never got the call as I don't have international calling.
10. Lawfirms and the bank are also pointing to the fact that I didn't report a fraud report until 5 days after everything happened (when I got back in the country and looked at my account) Saying most people keep better track of their money and would flag any erroneous transaction sooner.
11. An employee in the fraud department told me this: "Basically you have to prove that this somehow wasn't you. Your physical card and social security card were not compromised, so there's no specific point where you can show this is what happened and it went wrong here. The same way people will purposely crash their car after getting full coverage on it to cash in on insurance, there are people who do this sort of thing with banks, it's less common, but it happens."

So yeah, now what? None of my options really seem great. I'm left with a couple grand in cash and a little under a thousand online. I could:
1. Move back to FL with mom & dad, rent free, see about getting a job there. I'm really against this, really prefer to live out West, plus there's the awkward social aspects explaining why I'm back home.
2. Playoff a short roll: Doesn't seem all that great, can't handle even a normal downswing, although my standard deviation isn't that large, and the last thing I would ever want is to be mentally thinking "OK I have to win this pot," or "I'll just fold, marginal spot I don't want to play a big pot."
3. Get a job and save money: While this is a pretty "safe" play, going back to a 9 to 5 doesn't sound appealing either.
4. Grind online since I would be able to play lower stakes in cash as well as tournaments, sort of what I was doing before I came here. I don't think I'd be too happy with this, I moved to Vegas for live poker not online, plus I don't really have a spot to grind outside of the library and Starbucks, neither of which are ideal spots.
5. Get backed for 1/2: If I needed it I probably wouldn't have a problem getting like a 5k stake to play under someone else, however cutting an already somewhat low hourly in half or whatever we agree upon also doesn't seem great as I could make that at a normal job.
I could also work part time and play part-time, sort of like Pokerkraut has done with Lyft, not a terrible idea.

So yea life kinda fell apart for me. Right after everything was going so great. I had traveled to a tournament series, went to Punta Cana, I had more than doubled what I came out here with, was going to start playing 2/5 full time in January. I was on track if I didn't go through a bad downswing to be able to sell half my action and play the Main event next year. Oh yeah, another crappy thing, I was on track to make diamond before I left, but then I was gone for two months and now this has happened I'd really have to grind at Caesars in order to get that. I was a member of a couple poker training sites, subbed to some people on Twitch, PokerGo, YouTube Red, etc, pretty much canceled every subscription I had other than Netflix and Spotify. Even found another gym that's only 8.99/month as opposed to the $20 I was paying. I'll be doing a VLOG on this as well and possibly an article, but yea, it sucks. Oh, there is one cool thing I have going I guess, I'm working with Matt Berkey to host a meetup game that will be streamed in December to raise money for the Las Vegas shooting victims, that should be pretty cool. I guess at least I don't have to worry about rent amiright?

Wow wtf. That is some BS.

I would post a separate thread seeking some kind of advice, legal or not, perhaps in OOT (I would first contact the subforums respective mods as a guide).

This is terrible and I totally feel for you, man.

I had my phone hacked (like literally had a rogue program running on it somehow) and credit card transactions literally started popping up everywhere.

Being out of the country definitely complicated your situation.

I now have alerts texted to my phone whenever certain transactions take place.

Very sorry to hear what happened. Please reach out and hopefully some of the smarter, more experienced twoplustwo community members can be of some help.

Rotten business. Despicable.

Wow I was going to post that i saw you in the trooper game at westgate, the theft is such a bad beat i can't believe it. Possible madoffs are a big reason I have 2 different cash accounts and 3 different investment accounts. I'm very sorry to hear about that man you were doing so well.

I also have everything set to where my address for transactions must be used for withdrawals. Granted, not possible for bank accounts weekly stuff but for my IRAs.

Wow I'm very sorry to hear about this. I don't understand why your bank won't help you more and try to get those charges reversed. I mean yes, you're a "homeless" (by choice) professional poker player, BUT YOU HAVE VLOGS TO PROVE WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO!

I hope you find a lawyer that can help you sort this out. In the meantime, please don't play poker for now. You can't play with that much pressure on you, it will ruin your whole game. Also, consider moving home and going back to work. It's only temporary, even if it's for a year, then slowly start to play on weekends or at night again and don't give a **** about the "social aspect" of moving back home. Who cares what people think?

Also keep the thread updated. You're just going through a little hurdle right now but you will be ok

Ugh. This is such BS. So sorry to hear this. Keep sharing your story. Maybe someone in the poker community can help you financially if the bank/lawyer route doesn't work out?
