* I've used the search function and looked through the local vegas secrets thread *

I'm determined to learn and do more in Vegas than just the strip.

I've been downtown in the past and done Freemont Street, but that was years ago.

What are some cool things to see and do, Downtown and the Arts District, now-a-days?

I'm particular to food and drink, but down for other things to. Talk to me about Downtown and the Arts District and what's going on right now? Will be there in October.

What do you want to know... it's happening down there. It's not really by Fremont, it is more along commerce and main just north and south of Charleston. Lots of beer pubs, coffee shops, antique shops and art studios... all of which having varying levels of quality if you've been in other arts districts in other cities..

IMHO, it's about a 6.5-7 on a scale of 1-10 in comparison to other metropolitan arts districts... but it's all we have.

I'm sure that First Friday has made a comeback since re-opening. I haven't been there lately, though.

esthers kitchen is worth visiting. the pasta dishes are mostly solid, bread & spreads great, and the kitchen is trying to cool / “new italian” for relatively cheap.

there are a few lounges / dive bars that are whatever

good pie does a pepperoni + hot honey slice that’s worth a try

thai kitchen #1 I’ve only had a couple dishes at but I would recommend it over the thai places in strip malls around the city

finally, you pass by a lot of antique & kitschy stores that are selling mostly junk but might be fun to look through

Cornish pasty is super good if it's not shuttered and you like English food.... It's definitely worth a putz around... Depending on car situation.

Casa Don Juan for solid Mexican food. Generous portions, stiff drinks, and friendly staff. Also, super inexpensive.

Tacotarian is another Mexican option if you are vegetarian and it's right across street from Casa Don Juans and two doors down from Esther's.

Couple or three good coffee shops. Vesta roasts their own beans.

Garagiste is the only wine bar in Vegas with an extensive natural wine list and it regularly changes. If you take their bottles to go it’s 50% off, 55% for a half case and 60% for a full case

If you do some research it’s possible to buy a bottle there, take it to a restaurant nearby, pay their corkage fee and getting better value than you would ordering wine straight up

There is also novelty in having access to natural / organic wine that is (almost) nonexistent in Las Vegas

Esther’s kitchen, soul belly BBQ, and good pie for food. Servehzah, able baker, and silver stamp for beer.

Scared whitey getting adventerous? Dude its just an area with some bars. Go to Downtown Cocktail Room during happy hour to get 1/2 off ANYTHING on the menu. Other than that maybe hit up Triple George Grill downtown to take a break from the undeseriables. Get a steak, shrimp and salad and a drink for lunch and spend $100 like a normie. Good deal imo.

Vesta is my favorite coffee shop. Their nitro cold brew is the best I've had and their breakfast sandwiches are excellent.

Three Sheets is cool if you like beer. They have a lot of good stuff on tap.

Cork and Thorn is a wine bar and they also have good cocktails and live music. There was an awesome jazz band playing when i went.

The guy a couple posts up mentioned Downtown Cocktail Room and that's a really cool spot. You don't have to be cheap though. Go any time. The drinks and atmosphere are great.

Sept. 3 -

First Friday today. It is centered around the Arts Factory...a few minutes walk from most of the establishments that have been mentioned in this thread so far.

Gotta hit up Jerry's Nugget imo. It's a casino offering a variety of games of chance.

Dude, you're really displaying your ignorance with that post. If you were familiar with PG County at all, you'd understand how laughable your suggestion is that anyone who lives there would be frightened to venture into the LV Arts District or who would consider such an outing adventurous.

lol, right. I was kinda taken aback by @thedude404 but I've learned to manage my emotions when being trolled.

I wanted to retort: meet me downtown when I go and we can fight and film it.

But that would be brash, especially because he provided some recommendations (which was the point of the whole post).

I appreciate everyone who's helped with recommendations so far!! Keep them coming!! I'm definitely not scared of anywhere in Vegas or of any kind of people, so I'd be happy to hear of any awesome spots in places that some people might not venture into.

Triple George Grill should be low on your list of places to go downtown
