redbuck will be the youngest gambler in town. Hope he doesn't get offended if people refer to him as "Youngster."

I love Laughlin. The Aquarius puts on the best Thanksgiving buffet I've ever had. Sitting in the poker room at Riverside overlooking the water is absolute Zen. Even drinking at the bar, sitting in a restaurant or doing the river walk is amazingly beautiful. Spend $10 for the water taxi and ride the river!

I'm 63 and have been the youngest guy at the table.

Onced raised KK pre flop in a 2/4 limit game and was berated with 'guess you don't want to win the jackpot!' as everyone folded and glared at me.

You’re right,Tom. This place is a major disappointment. The GN rooms are like an old Holiday Inn. They have one bj table open, and it’s $15 and in the middle of the room any packed with fat old fossils. I didn’t play a hand - made 2 $200 parlays ( lost them both). I did go up to the Aquarius and managed to blow $1k on their $25 table. I did win $370 on the Braves and a little on bj before I left the Mirage. I hope I find better conditions the next couple of nights before heading back to LV.

Those were probably the same old guys that were there when I was last there years ago. Slow down near Searchlight on your way back to LV--used to be the world's worst speed trap. I doubt that has changed much either.

My favorite memory of Laughlin was going to the window at my room at what was then the Flamingo (I think--Aquarius now?) after hearing an extended loud roar about 7am one morning in July or August. I spent the next few minutes watching a seaplane trying to get up enough speed to get some lift off the river in that awful heat. He eventually made it, but I had my doubts for a while. I'll bet the pilot did too!

Hope you find some decent games!

*laughlin rant*: the place is the same now as it was in 1997. Literally nothing has been renovated other than when the River Palms changed ownership and became the Laughlin River Lodge a few years ago. At least they did some major renovations to the casino floor; not sure about the rooms. Worst part is the room rates are now 3x-4x higher than they were in 1997 but zero extra value has been provided. *end rant*

if u r still there and want to try some poker against an under 80 crowd, try Harrah's altho not sure if they are only open on weekends or not (that was the case in March).

Man I need to get to Laughlin. I went as a kid in the early 90s and thought it was fun. I expect to be the youngest guy by 30 years.

Ha if I go it will probably be in July or August. Only time I can get away by myself for a week. If I do I intend to do a Bataan death March along the riverside hitting up all the casinos from Don’s joint to the end, maybe minus Harrah’s.

I live in Houston, I went to Vegas in late July two years back drive to Reno. I stopped a bunch of places near like Death Valley and didn’t feel that uncomfortable. I live in Houston and play golf in the middle of summer mid day and can deal with it. The desert is with its dry heat is much better. Understand Laughlin might be worse than Death Valley with its higher than Vegas temps and potential humidity from the river.

I lived just north of Houston for three years and played golf almost every weekend--my buddies sometimes begged off to play gin when it got below 60* but never because of heat. Currently live in not quite the same h/h--but close. I was in Laughlin/LV 15-20 years ago when they hit ATHs. There is absolutely no comparison. Walking around was like getting into a car that had the windows rolled up in Houston. Crushing. Of course all days are not ATHs, but those were memorable.

We’ll, tonight I wound up in a small casino in Havasu, AZ/CA. Had a good time. There was one table open at 10/100. I got overserved and was buying everyone drinks. Lost $300. I think I’ll discontinue this sightseeing charade and go back to LV and gat back to “work”.
Still up about $7k+, but these AZ small Casinos are ripping me a new one.

Played a little last night, not much happened.
Got a couple of small football bets working..
Taking it easy for now. Will get back in action soon.

No football, got $300 on Cleveland Indians.

Play the uncapped 1/2 game at Golden Nugget. The 'Duke of Fremont STreet' used to buy in for over $10k, played with him once and wonder whatever happened to him after he got mugged for $137k in Primm.

We’ll, I’m still alive but fading like a yankee tan.
I’ve shrewdly turn $11k profit into $2k with one day to go.
ec, sorry I missed connecting.
One more day, as my liver looks on with horror.

I'm back home in S GA. It was a long and tiring 9 days of drinking and gambling, and I had a real good time. When the smoke finally clears this weekend the worst I can be in -$600. I still have 2 bets out: $200 4 team college fb parlay and a $300 bet on KC -2.5.

The blackjack was pretty intense with swings from -$3k to +$11k to -$6k to -$200.
I played 1000++ hands (from $50-$500) and finished $200 down. Pretty crazy!!!
Too many bad beats and luckouts to mention. I mostly played in the HL rooms and about 80% of the time heads up.

Observations: not very many HL players at the Mirage for the 5 days I was there.
also, not many HL players at the GN (downtown) for the 2 days I was there, but both were very crowded. The properties were very clean, and the wearing of masks was mandatory. Food was good. Sports books were packed.
The streets were very clean and it actually looked more like Disneyland than LV.
Downtown was a lot of fun and extremely clean with only 3-4 homeless people lying around. All-in-all a fun time and worth going if you are on the fence...

Nice parlay on some non major conference football.

Also hoping your KC bet goes down in flames, don’t bet against Buffalo.
