Excalibur and Luxor at a chill $1885 a night. Cool.

You do get two race tickets for your ten grand.

In 1981 I think I got prime seats for under $200, including a garage pass where we got to bother the mechanics as they worked on the cars.

Because people like that tend to push it onto everyone else.

It'd be interesting to see what floors had a view, if any. Figure the lower levels would be obstructed even w/o the granstand anyways.

Thanks.

I recall back in the day when I did Chapter 11 reorganization committee work, I went to Dallas on a matter involving a guy whose real estate empire went bust, but not before blowing millions on sponsoring the Dallas Grand Prix, iirc.

Looks like MGM realized that asking $2,000 a night for Luxor isn't going to work... (Or maybe that was a mistake on their part).

It's now $680 a night lol. Lots of properties that are not directly on the circuit have lowered their prices a bit. Still pricey though.

What’s more sad is that I get the exact same rates with Platinum, basically zero discount. It’s my 40th birthday during F1 and I was playing with the idea to maybe book but no thanks, I have been to enough F1 races (both Monaco and Budapest many times) and don’t need to pay $10k for a useless stop.

you guys think enough of this money coming into town will find its way to the tables (10/20+) to make it worth being there? honestly don't know if this demographic is into poker

The average F1 fan is the European version of an Indy car fan, a little less redneck than NASCAR.

At this price point, the regular fans are priced out anyway though. The vast majority of people I know who are willing to spend that kind of money on sporting events would not play high stakes poker in a public card room. But maybe we're going to see a totally different demographic?

Both yes and no. The European crowd wouldn’t pay 10k simply because it’s outrageous.

By comparison the Monaco Grand Prix has a €6000 package for two at the Belvedere, where you can see most of the track from a big balcony. It’s for 3 days total and includes many VIP perks.

I just don’t see the reason for the vegas tickets being that high.

That's what I'm saying, the "regular" European motorsports crowd wouldn't pay that and I doubt the "regular" UD crowd will. So I'd assume it's going to be much more of a rich entertainment crowd.

FWIW, a couple years ago when F1 still raced at Nürburgring in Germany, around 10k got you a full VIP package that included driving your own sports car on the famous Nordschleife. (But not the cost to fix his dad's GT2 RS my buddy wrecked there).

To get anything anywhere near reasonable you had to be quick. I saw $550 a night at Bally's but that was a few weeks before the Caesars hype event. A circuit view room would probably by extra.

Driving the ring only costs about 30 Euro.

30€ is the unsupported weekday rate per lap. That also didn't apply during F1 week.

Rule of thumb was roughly 1000€ to drive 2 hours each on Saturday and Sunday plus 2000€ for the set of wheels.

I'm sure there might be some bump, but honestly most of the cash will likely move towards the nightlife scene.

Clark county commission approved the race through 2032 with closures on the Strip Wednesday to Sunday.

Right now they only have a 3 year deal with F1 though.

Looks like they're going to pave during the day and only close parts of the roads for that?

FWIW I would expect the first round to be a one time thing. Some version of round 2 has to happen every year ahead of the race.

surface needs to be billiard table smooth... it's mandatory for cars of this capability.

I'm thinking most people who are going to pay to be at this venue are not going to waste their time at the poker room, let alone a public one. You might end up with a semi-private game somewhere about though.

I know someone who booked a package and was kind of surprised he did so. He's very much into F1 and racing, but no gambling to that extent. The plan is to fly in, pre-game in the suite, eat at the restaurants, watch the event, rinse/repeat until the end of the event.

Honestly, I'm a pretty big f1 fan too, though I'm not such a huge one where i think paying $1k/night for a room at paris makes much sense to me.

Do any of you local to the strip think the games are going to be remotely different? I can see maybe a slight drop off of foot traffic for those few days.

I'm not local but I suspect the games will be worse and slower. The issue of people coming in for the race has already been addressed. Otherwise, it will be much harder to get to the Strip because of traffic restrictions. A lot of people will just bag it and wait a few days to play, or go somewhere other than the Strip.

I think that's 100% correct re local players.

I'm pissed enough about the paving projects' likely effect on traffic.

So, basically, from April 2 to September 15, most of the Strip or East=West access roads will be unusable.

It will be interesting to see how that affects gaming revenue on the Strip during construction. (Maybe they are counting on the monorail to pick up the slack?).

Station Casinos, the major off-strip operator, will be the only casino big winner I think. Maybe their GGR will jump year over year during construction

Apparently they are only doing one lane at a time. I don't think it will be nearly as terrible as you think.
