Fun fact I just recently learned. Almost all of the graves in cemeteries face east / west. The head points to the north so that when Jebus returns from the east, all can rise up facing him and be resurrected.

Also old chapels faced east/ west and the bride was always on the north side of the groom. Same goes for burial. The wife is laid to rest on the north side of the husband.

A bit embarrassed I'm as old as I am without knowing this.

Been lurking and enjoying the TR. there's something oddly enganging about going to dive bars/cheap places to me too. Maybe it's because I grew up in a small city where that's pretty me all there is.

I've stayed at the Clown Motel too; what a strange place. The person at the desk told me it was the former owner who was so into clowns, and had it written into the sale that the theme would be perserved after (s)he retired (IIRC).

Ha you are much braver than me, I actually stayed at Tonopah Station. Yeah I love it little seedy, makes it more exciting.

I’m in Crystal Bay tonight. Crystal Bay Casino supposedly has the largest craps table in the world.

In gambling new stopped in Stateline and used play $40 get $20 in free play st Hard Rock. Won a whopping $2.75. Was going to try the poker room in Stateline but stupid Caesar’s and paid parking.

Drove up to Incline Village and stopped at the Grand Lodge Casino. Nice place, used a $10 freeplay coupon + $10 in freeplay for signing up. Also they have a wincard with $30 in prom chips for $20. I won $82.50 at BJ and $23.75 on the freeplay. Nice place.

Going to know look for someplace to get trout or some type of lake fish.

At the Soule Domain, sounds fancier than it is. Got a half bottle of so so not as dry as I want risking and have Pablo crusted sea bass and some said coming. Reviews are solid on yelp.

Random town just cross the state line in Cali.

If you ever make the drive from Vegas to Reno I highly recommend taking 20 minute detour by going US-6W and CA-120W to I-395. CA-120 is a fun and remote drive.

Super small town of Benton where you make the turn, this building supposedly was a bar and poker room in the 50s according to the Native American Vietnam vet at the tiny gas station, diner. I bet they had some decent California lowball and stud games.



A working payphone here for a couple quarters I probably should’ve made a call.

Food at Soule Domain was very nice, sea bass significantly better than Redwood.

About three hours from Vegas on I-95.

I actually checked Wizard Of Odds for Double Double Bonus and it doesn’t show holding AA and the kicker, perhaps on other variants you keep the kicker. Also seems odd that you hold KK over three to a straight flush but not JJ or KK, don’t get that.
