I too will be hitting Reno/Tahoe in Nov (wife's b-day). Flying into Reno Friday nite, staying over at Harrah's (or ???), then meeting friends at a VRBO in Tahoe for a couple of nights. I've been through Reno before, many times, but only stayed at the Reno Hilton (now Grand Sierra?). Hoping to see a little more of Reno proper, maybe hit a restaurant besides Johnny Rockets :-). So, long story short, keep up the pics/report! Loving it.

Peg’s, Two Chicks and Pine State Biscuits (which is part of a “Little Portland”) are very good as well. Breakfast >>> Dinner in Reno IMO. Depot is a good microbrewery as well

Very cool GSR seems the nicest, this was cool, I love hitting the driving range. That being said I find it kinda bland. I like my casinos cheesy.

I think my favorite non downtown property is Peppermill and Atlantis. Favorite downtown is the Eldorado.

Lost $9 bucks at the Atlantis $1/$2. Just hit up the steakhouse at the Peppermill.

Nice detour to northern Nevada. Crystal Bay Club was the first place I ever casino gambled. I was 20 years old (long time ago) and my ski bum friends that lived up there made a point of going there since the no one ever seemed to be interested in carding anyone. We just had to straddle the line between playing min-limit 21, drinking screwdrivers, and not hitting any big slot jackpots. Any pics of that "worlds longest" craps table?

And what's up with this thing? I've never seen that before. Is that to make it half a table when it's slow and use fewer dealers?

Cool story, I kinda of liked Crystal Bay. If I go back I won’t stay at the Baltimore wow what a dump. First room they put me in had carpet with holes from the wear, no AC, peeling paint. I “upgraded” to a remodeled room with AC, what a dump. Figured they must make decent revenue, not sure why they don’t put a dime in the place.

That craps table divider is exactly what you said. Would of like to play but it was closed.

Only shot of the table. I believe they recently changed it out as it seemed normal size.

At the fireside lounge in Reno. Looks identical to the one in Vegas.

Down $41 at Peppermill, shouldn’t of played so long. Plan is to head back downtown. Maybe check out the Sands craps, shower and play Silver Legacy game.

2-1 up $85 on baseball. Should’ve just handicapped. Believe I’m up over $1000 only betting $100 a unit primarily. That and shoot to win craps.

Can someone help me out? Is this $7K $1 progressive super +EV or am I missing something?

I plugged in here and it came out slightly +ev.
Try it yourself cuz I may have done something wrong. First hit "standard video poker" for
another list and then double double bonus.

Been a long time (1990s) since I did the tour of grunge Nevada. Worked in a kitchen at Railroad Pass for awhile and it broke me of the habit.

Ashes belonged under the 1-3-6 lhe game in the El Cortez. It sold after Jackie died, so I guess it's been cleaned finally. Would have been a good run though.

Thanks for the memories. Even think I recognize one of the players in that Westgate game.

Ah the old ELCo game I remember it fondly, it was my cryptonite. Did like there $1-3 spread limit stud game with no ante. They actually had Jackie living there after he sold for several years. I played with him a few times, he was pretty out of it and a calling station. He was keeping that game alive.

Playing the Silver Legacy game certainly more action than the other places in town.

99 before I even removed my chips from the rack. Raised to $8, heck didn’t realize it was $1/$3. Ended up losing $80 first hand. Flop was 8 5 5 which I bet half pot. Called a half bet turn bet on a Q. Folded to the river bet on an Ace. That sucked.

Sands was packed. Like the lights but it’s as expected kind of dumpy.

I’m so bad at pokerz. I bet a K55 bet from the big blind and with K garbage. I called a $50 turn and river bet from the small blind. I figured he had a 5 on the turn but still called.

I believe each 1000 coins extra a prog pays for a royal increases your return approximately 0.5%. A 9/6 ddb game is about 99%, so with a 3000 coin extra royal, I'd peg it at somewhere around a 100.5% game.

Definitely +ev, but not sure about 'super +ev'

Well that was lame, in for $400, had about $200 when I called a good a $20 raise from a super loose player with 33, was unbelievably Carr dead. 5 callers, flop a set bet $75 and get two callers. Turn us a 2 and the 3rd spade. I go all-in, both call. Turn puts out a low straight for anyone with an Ace. First bettor bets big and gets a caller. He has the spade flush with King 8. Great game but I wasn’t up for those kind of swings.

Thanks, yeah that’s what I got from Wizard of Odds analyzer.

Not worth playing the Nugget in Carson City.

Tough day, brother. Just remember: Overall, if you're winning substantially more than 50% of pots at showdown, you're folding too much, and too-tight folds in loose games burn more Sklansky bucks than in tighter games. Players are putting in more chips with a bigger range disadvantage; those are your multipliers, assuming that you're staying reasonably tight pre.

Regarding the dollar video poker progressives: it might be wise to factor some taxes into the EV calc.

Thanks for that, yeah no way I could do this for a living. Even considering if I felt I had an edge, I don’t could take the stress of playing for your livelihood. Yeah losing sucks for recs like me but this is disposable income I’m prepared to lose.

I didn’t really get into it too much but I sat next to Andrew Neeme at the Nugget game.

Now given he just lost a $1000 pot as I first sat down to a guy hitting a set against him, being ahead the whole way and betting big. That being said he seemed miserable, extremely tensed and focus, certainly didn’t seem fun to him to grind for a living. I’d much rather deal with the corporate world BS and be an office monkey.

If anyone has ever seen the great Paul Thomas Anderson gambling movie Hard Eight you’ll possibly appreciate this. I’m at the Sparks Diner in Sparks. This is where they filmed the opening and closing scenes.

Also went to the house of Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the film, where the film finale was filmed.

After I eat I’m going to check out the Nugget. They had this great lounge scene filmed in there. Hopefully the lounge is still there.

Downtown between Silver Legacy and Eldorado it’s a 5 minute walk indoors.

From Eldorado to Harrah’s or Cal Neva it’s a 5 minute walk.

From these places to Peppermill, Atlantis by car under 15. Maybe 20 to The Nugget in Sparks.
