Heading back to Vegas this Wednesday the 29th to play the WSOP for the first time! I’m gonna be staying for 13 nights, just hoping to hang on and not go busto too quickly. I’ll be playing lots of tournaments, including at least 2 bracelet events at the Rio. Also gonna mix in a few tournies at the Nugget & the Orleans and possibly the Venetian or Wynn depending on how I’m running.

My girlfriend will be tagging along most of the trip. She’s got a business trip in Texas for a few days during the middle of the trip so I’ll be solo for a bit. This is my second Vegas trip report, I’ll dig up the link from last year’s and post it.

I’m on the flight now out of Tampa. Had a little run bad with a delay of about an hour. Estimated arrival is 1:15 am Vegas time and my first tourney starts at 11 am, so I’ll be running on little sleep. We’re gonna be at the Bellagio for one short night, Bally’s for 7 nights then switching to Vdara for the last 5 nights.

I’ve mapped out a schedule of tournaments I’d like to play but I’ll be flexible depending on how things go:

Of course if I make any Day 2s that’ll supersede the other event listed. I’m a poker dealer so it’s kinda cool to be playing in Event #1, the Casino Employee event.

I’ll be mixing in some cash games, sports betting and table games but I’m definitely more focused on crushing some tournaments!! My bankroll isn’t as healthy as I would’ve liked so I’ll be looking to tread lightly at the start and lock up some small wins. I did sell 50% of my tournament acton which helped, plus it’s fun to have other people strongly rooting for your success.

Another delay when we landed, had to wait about 20 minutes for an available gate. Other than that everything went smooth getting from the airport to the Bellagio. No line for cabs, hopped right in and 10 minutes later we’re heading to the room. Gotta love checking in on the app and using a digital key! Gonna try and get a few hours sleep and be ready for Event #1…

I have never seen one person with that many fitties. Also a small-headed Ben on top. Stash musta been buried out back during the pandemic.

Got maybe 4 hours sleep, gave up and headed downstairs for some $25 BJ @ Bellagio. First hand i double down with a 10 and scoop and think this might be all right all right all right. Then proceed to lose about 9 out of 10 hands and get into the game for $500. I bet my last $125 to try and get it back quick. Get dealt 8-8 vs a dealer 7, check my pocket and I’ve only got $100 cash left. I’m playing solo and ask the pit boss if I can hit the ATM and he’s nice enough to let me. Come back with another $300, split my 8s and get…another 8! Ok well we’re in this far gotta keep splitting. So now I’m in for $375, first hit is a queen, not bad so far. Next hit is 4 uh oh, hit me again. Draw a 5 so now I’ve got 18 & 17. Next hit is a 5, yikes! Hit again and pull a magical 7 for 20. So now I’ll gladly take a dealer 17, but she rolls over a 5 for 12. Hit card slowly comes out to reveal the beautiful 10 of hearts!! Now I’m down $5 after I tip her, lower my bet then win the next 2 hands, lose one and cash out +$40. I’ll take it!!

In for 800, out for this…


At the Rio now waiting in a pretty long line to have my online vaccine registration verified lol. 80 minutes until showtime!

Wow what a s**t show this is. I know it’s Day 1 but geez this is ridiculous. I registered online for Event 1 with the promise of “skipping the lines”. Well the kiosks that print your seat tickets aren’t working and I’ve currently been standing in line for over 90 minutes. Gonna miss at least the first two levels, I’m currently 4th in line but the area I’m in has only 2 cashiers. It’s literally taking 10-15 min for each transaction at the cage. Hopefully I’ll be in my seat actually seeing some cards soon!

Had to get a ruling before I played a hand lol. Waited in line almost 2 hours just to get my seat card because the kiosks are down, get to the table and they’ve blinded me down from 25K to 20K. First floor said tough luck I asked for her supervisor, he said kick rocks at first so I asked for a refund. He said he’d do it one time and gave me my stack back. Coming back from first break with 24.2K

Lots of ups and downs last 3 levels. I did make Poker News even though they spelled my name wrong. Lost 12K last hand before break, shorter stack raised to 1700 @ 300/600 I have 10s on the button and make it 5200, folds back to him and he shoves for 12K and I lose to Aces. Coming back with 43K @ 400/800

Up to 124K, raised JJ over one limper. Flop was Ah8h6c i checked behind. Turn was a blank he bet around 4K I called. River was a blank and he immediately shoved for around 14K I tanked maybe a minute and called, he showed Jc9c for the air ball!
