Mods, sorry in advance if this is OOL, feel free to delete or relocate the thread.

Hey folks. First time making the hike out to Vegas, largely do to health issues that have prevented it in the recent past. The legality of edibles/bud will help immensely but from the small amount of research I've done the choice is insane & obviously everybody touts themselves as the best or having the best. Thought a decent idea would be to ask poker players seeing we tend to know what we're talking about in this department. Anyhow, to what I'm looking for:

Have high tolerance, prefer things THC heavy but CBD never hurts (have some already so not needed really needed) so high dose, decent price & all that good stuff.

Store recommendations? Brands or products?

Thanks to those who reply ahead of time!

Best,

capeeKo

foatie seems to be the expert based on his trip reports, you may want to check with him or bighurt.

I can't believe there's not a weed thread in LVL. normally I would just merge this into the FAQ thread, but we'll let it go and see if it picks up any traction as a weed catchall thread.

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated. I'll use weedmaps for sure but going by word of mouth has never hurt before!

Reef and Planet 13 are the biggest in that resort corridor area and are basically across the street from each other... lately Planet 13 is cleaning up in terms of sales, but they both have different products from each other. There is also a brand new Liquor store in that same block if that is your sort of thing... as is Spearmint Rhino.

slightly Further down highland/western is Curaleaf which is also VERY popular with tourists but hard to walk to... Right next door to The Jewelers.

those three spots should be MORE THAN enough to satisfy your tastes.

My go to dispensary when I have folks visiting is Thrive in the Arts District.

Good prices, never crowded and somewhat helpful "bud-tenders".

You can combine with a meal or drinks Casa Don Juan, Esthers, Tacotarian or some of the new brew pubs just around the corner.

The weed in Vegas is always good and always strong no matter what. I use NuLeaf, Oasis for the best prices and Reef for the best selection.

if you're purchasing from dispensaries, you're getting custied hard -- find a local plug for connoisseur options

I heard the same thing from someone here in NY that is active in the CA business & has some experience in CO but not in LV. Even said I might want to just bring some w/ me from NY to be safe but I don't wanna risk it.

I'm not so much concerned with the bud as I am with the quality & consistency of the edibles. Though one thing I've heard that I don't like in regards to bud is that they won't let you see/touch/smell it & you often get served from a different container & getting bait/switched sometimes. In terms of edibles, part of me feels I just just get some RSO/extract & make my own treats.

edibles are for the most part pretty standard and overpriced at dispensaries and limited to 100mg of cannabinoid content (read: distillate) per package for rec buyers

my guy has some pretty fire hash rosin donuts and chocolates from time to time, though they're a bit more expensive

Best value spot for cartridges is Nuleaf, try Oasis for ounces of flower, Thrive for kief. And all edibles everywhere are way overpriced. Go to Vegas Treehouse instead, they have the best deals on RSO, and smear your preferred dose of that on a piece of candy instead.

This is the most on point advice, simplified on here.

It's always worth it to get on the email list of a dispensary for newsletter only deals. I've seen $90 Old Pal ounces at Oasis in my email before, lots of BOGO cart deals. Those $19 .5 carts from NuLeaf are some of the strongest carts that I've ever had. Good luck.

Thank you as well, always nice to get confirmation & extra info.

Lastly, if it means anything, I recently received my medical card here in NY, I hear they still apply in NV. Any upside to going to a medical dispensary over recreational?

I think all you guys have schooled me nicely & I shouldn't have an issue, thanks to everyone who replied very much. Will be at Rio 14th-24th if anyone wants to meet up, play some cash & burn one. Again, thanks again.

No need for a medical card in Nevada.

Shop any dispensary you desire, I honestly don't think there are any "medical" dispensary stores and don't know if a medical card still exists or gets you any greater discount or stronger content (which at one point it did.).

You will need only an ID, like a drivers license.

In some states, not sure about Nevada, the tax rate is hugely different for medical vs recreational.

Edit:
Quote:
Nevada charges an 8.25% tax on medical marijuana purchases. This number increases to 15% tax for recreational marijuana consumers.
Not a huge difference. Apparantly in some states medical is 1% vs 28% rec.

Yeah this is what I was thinking. Had heard I may get betting pricing w/ the medical card but doesn't sound like much so I'll just shop around using the advice all of you kind fellow plant burners have provided.

They certainly treated me well on my trip, though I didn't try many other brands (had a Vert brownie the day I arrived which was nice & a few Sips drinks throughout the trip but the WYLD gummies did the trick).

Thank you to everyone in this post that helped with advice. I mostly stuck to the Green dispensary but tried a few other random ones (The Grove is the only other I remember). This post is a good reference for any future first time Vegas visiting pothead.

If I'll be staying in a hotel on the strip, where's the best place to smoke? I assume smoking anywhere in the hotel is forbidden and so is smoking on the street?

Based solely on the smell, I don't think smoking outside on the strip is forbidden (it's certainly not enforced). I've never had a problem or a cleaning bill after toking up in the hotel room, even after a visit by hotel security with a visible haze in the room.
