Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

Hello 2+2.

Long long time lurker (member when another kid another dream got regular updates?). First time poster. Iíve always enjoyed reading the TRs of others here so Iíve decided to contribute to the party. This trip will be short, but fun. In Friday. Out Monday. Pics and wins aplenty.

The plan
- The fight (Go GGG)
- The book for NFL Sunday.
- The pool
- Good eats.
- Lowrolling Craps
- Some lowstakes Pokers.

We are staying at the Cosmo (Marriott Points FTW).

Shoes ready

Room is stocked up and we are rolling out. PH still have good games? Should I trek to the Aria? I know the B is right there but Iíve never had good luck there.

Well we took a blackjack detour for about 200 but weíre finally sitting at a poker table at PH. Hopefully it starts soon.

Unrelated. But there are WAY too many poor blackjack players in town this weekend. Iíve never seen so many missed double ups in my life 92 versus a 5

ďYeah, Iím not gonna win with an 11Ē

Good Luck! I left a lot of money at various craps tables throughout the strip last week, so they should be looking for someone to get it back.

Jealous. Always great to go to a big fight down in Vegas, Iíve been to a couple myself and love staying at Cosmo.

How easy was it to transfer Marriot Points to idenity. Each point is with $0.01, correct?

Re: Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

...and weíre up at 10 because Vegas.

The other members of the room (who are permanent residents of Pacific Time)-are all ďf off itís not even 10AM, go back to sleepĒ but central time me is wide awake, and all things considered feeling pretty good. So we set out on the old Vegas ritual. Walking the strip to the V for breakfast.

Sporting this shirt so I can get swore at in Spanish by canelo fans

And this combo of plaid shorts and plaid shoes because itís 1998 and Iím heading to the Vans Warped Tour.

We set off.

Re: Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

Now people always ask why I walk the strip, and itís because thereís no better combo of scenery architecture and people watching in the world

The B

...I donít always stay at the B, but when I do I make sure I get Starbucks for breakfast. Because that definitely doesnít exist in your hometown. How many great breakfasts spots do you have to PASS to get to Starbucks?

His shirt says ďfollow me if you want to partyĒ. The rest of him says ďthe bingo hall closes at 5 PMĒ

...and weíre almost there

Re: Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

We could just sit at the empty bar for breakfast, or we could wait 25 minutes for a table. I just donít get people I guess

Now if eggslut and a beer is the dinner of champions, then chicken and waffles and bouchon is the breakfast of Kings. Best wake-up meal in America right here.

R.I.P. Vanilla Bean butter. It just doesnít taste the same without you.

And Iím new here so Iím not sure how to reply to specific posts, but the Cosmo is technically a Marriott property so you can book it through the marriott website with your points.

Re: Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

After lunch we head back to the Cosmo for some dice

Nothing of note. Ended up down 80 after an hour or two. Then it was off to Park MGM, to pick up the tickets. It was good to see some Triple G stuff around town this time around.

And finally we have the tickets.

We head back to the Cosmo and, in an effort to not be a complete waste, this weekend grab a quick run and some weight work. If you want to know who works out at the Cosmo at the boulevard gym Saturday afternoon the answer is no one. I was hear for about an hour, I didnít see another soul. It was kind of eerie. Nice view from the treadmill tho.

Shower up and itís fight night! Wooo!

Re: Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

Tickets were had for less than 800$ (though not by much). I have a ticket taek but Iíll maybe save that for a wrap up post I can type out. Someone said live TRs are hard and I have to agree. I am days behind. But Iím not gonna blasted this TR. Iíll make it to the end.

And we are now in line to get into t-mobile. This is honestly one of the best arenas in the country. Walking through the Park on your way, the vibe outside, the fact that there is booze and gambling within minutes of it. Itís great. If your thinking of coming for a fight or a hockey game. Do it you wonít be disappointed.

The seats. Better in person than in the picture.

The undercard. Fun to watch. But totally screwed up the pacing. I get that the amount of rounds fought was drastically less than the amount of rounds scheduled, but man. The wait between the Munguia thrashing and the main event was LONG. Definitely had an impact on the excitement level imo.

Quick food review (no pics). Had shrimp tacos and a chicken burrito at the Mexican spot behind the loge seats (donít remember the name). Quite good. Especially for sub 10$ arena meals. Do recommend.

7 Nation army comes on, which means GGG is making the walk and the rematch is on....

Re: Fight Weekend TR 9/14-9/17

Well I have fight video but no fight pics. Maybe Iíll figure out how to post them later.

Anyway, quick fight thoughts (Iíll give some more detailed ones in a summary post). Canelo looked better than the first, GGG looked older than the first. The crowd was even more pro Canelo this time around.

Great fight though! Tons of fun. I had GGG 7-5 but Iím a homer and watching live is always harder to score. Looking forward to watching the replay next week. Unlike last year I had no issue with the decision. It was a close fight and itís boxing. The one thing that sucks is that one of the cards gave round 12 to Canelo which is terribad (personal opinion), and that swing the whole fight from a draw to a Canelo win. Again, boxing.

And also edit 2! Judges gave Canelo the 12th. From where I was that was Triple G all the way.
