Live TR starting. Landed in Vegas 90 mins ago, Cosmo check in smooth, fried chicken at blue ribbon, great crust but white meat too dry and collard greens way oversalted. 2 good cocktails tho.

In for 1K at bellagio 5/10, waiting for 40/80 mix.

2nd hand in game I open CO with K10o to $30. BTN 3 bets to $80, BB flats, I call.

Flop Kd9h9c. Chk, chk, btn $80. Bb folds, I call.

Turn Ad. I check, he bets $200. Call and reevaluate River.

River 8s. I check. Btn bets $300 into $800.

Cashed out up $750 after 30 minutes of NL cause game sucked and I was tired. Also there were 10 ppl on the 40/80 list.

Decided to Sleep 4 hours and then couldn’t sleep so walked back to the B cause said 40/80 going with no list. Game busted 20 minutes before, boo.

Good chance for me to jog down to the Encore and hop in the 12/24 there.

In for $600 right now. Looks like a pretty great lineup.

Got a nice bluff through in badugi and then made a 7 another hand. Then had a nice scoop with a 9-8 in razzdeucey. Leggo.



Getting kinda tired, but thinking of playing the supreme donkament that is the colossus today. We’ll see.

I’m sure others will disagree but if you’re tired why go through the hassle that is the Rio for one of these huge low buy-in WSOP events.

I stay stick to mix cash games.

In a way I hope you disregard this and FT the Colossus.

What happened here?

Turn feels like a fold in the KT hand

Result is I call river and V shows 57dd and we’re good. After analyzing this further, River is a fold with my hand, a call if I have Ax and raise with my 9x. Bad call, won money. Eh, we both played this band bad, his pre flop 3 bet sizing is awful, and I think he should overbet shove river with his hand.

I did have a bit of a live read, even though those are prolly garbage. He bet the $300 with 2 black chips and 10 orange chips, when he could have used 3 black chips. When people use smaller chips to bet amounts that add up to another larger chip they have, I tend to weigh them more toward bluffs. It’s like their brain short circuits when they are bluffing so they pick up multiple chip denominations to make it look more value-y. But then they don’t follow through on it, so they just pick up a random number of smaller chips.

If he bets $290 or $310 there, I actually put more credibility into him having a value hand. Not sure if that makes sense to people but it’s an observation I’ve made over the years.

Anyhoo. Mix is way more fun and I’ll prolly skip the colossus cause I’ll just want to stab my eyes out the whole time.

I also feel using multiple small chips is often bluffy but my take is that they want their bet to seem more intimidating with more chips.

Just an idea, raise/folding the flop in the KT hand is the type of move I've used in the past to make things easier to play

Yesterday hit bazaar meat for restaurant week dinner. A few good dishes but also a few not so great ones. Not overly blown away.

Decided to hop into the 888 donkament today.

1st bullet I promptly bust with 89 vs KQ on JT76 and a goddamn ace on the river.

Now in for the 2nd bullet and doubled with AK vs A7 on AKT78. Sitting at 95K coming back to 1200/2400/2400.

If there is a better mix + champagne TR on 2+2 I haven't found it. You combine my two favourite things. Good luck in the rest.

Yup, same mix, sometimes they just bump up the stakes a bit.

Highlights from the last couple days have been:

Edo Tapas. Awesome, one of the best meals in Vegas in a long time. Amazing dishes, great value, this is a must go. Will try to do full write up later, but just go here now!

Esther’s Kitchen. Dishes were a bit too heavy and salty IMO, it’s good, but I’m not dying to return.

Poker
I’m in town with some friends from back home and my buddy’s gf wanted to play low stakes mix. We walked around the Rio and poached players from random games then basically pleaded with the floor to get a $4/8 mix going for a few hours. It ended up being a ton of fun, we were reshuffling on first street in triple draw with every hand going 7 ways to the draw lol. Same went for stud, we were shuffling but should have just been playing with community cards.

It was an amazing super fun game and friends gf was happy.

In more serious poker, played a short $50/100 stud8 session and lost one hand of note with AA vs Kings up. -$500

This morning played $50/100 mix at Rio for 4 hours, 4 handed most of the time. Game had 1 good reg who was running very bad, 1 action player and 1 other guy. I ran quite well to start and went up from 2K buyin to $4500 pretty quick. Biggest hand was a 3 way super stud 8 one where it was capped most streets as I had the other two boardlocked for the low, though one was drawing live for sure. That all changed when the dealer dealt me face up on 7th, meaning he had to deal the other two face up as well. I got to see that I was guaranteed to win the low half, which is always great in a 2K+ pot.

Later on another good player sat and I ran a 2 street snow in badugi and he called down with the nut three card. Whoops.

After that I got a bit unlucky when we both drew one on the 3rd draw in 2-7 and he led, I raised with 85432 and he 3 bet. I think I have to pay this off against a good, aggressive player, he made #2.

Sleep had been super erratic, so will see what is up today. No mix smaller than 200/400 running right now so we’ll see what the day brings
