I would think by this point you've earned quite a bit of latitude. I for one would love to have this morph into your travel blog. Thanks for the updates!

I can provide an upvote for Lyon. Significantly fewer tourists than other major destinations in France, and less busy overall, which makes it feel almost eerily quiet. A ton of culinary history and great food, especially for those with a more adventurous palate.

Always great to see TurdFerg eating, drinking, and gambling in Vegas!

I just wish I knew about food and wine to have an opinion on stuff you post

For now I'll just stick to the food recommendations and know I can never go wrong

Thanks TJ, that’s very nice of you.

Sounds like I’ll have to hit Lyon in June. While down in the Rhône I’ll be staying in wine country and just eating/drinking lots, but you guys have given me reason to check out lyon for at least a day trip.

After I post my May update in this thread, we can take votes as to whether it should be the ongoing tales of the Ferguson’s around the world

June will be France, Korea, Japan and maybe Vegas, so will be food porn for a month straight. Might tie it all up with a little Vegas action at the very end of June and early July.

Very cool you’re doing the Rhône valley. Don’t know if you’re a Boudreaux guy but even if so I wouldn’t recommend it. Boudreaux region isn’t very scenic, sure you probably already know this.

Champagne also not too scenic but fun. Be sure to try hit up some of the small producers and bottlers. I think a lot small producers will sell the bulk of there crop to the big bottlers but will keep some for there own.

We don't have to wait. I'd be surprised if the answer isn't a unanimous yes.

I'm really surprised you haven't enjoyed your time in my city. Everyone usually love it (locals and tourists).

Can you explain what was up if you don't mind ?

More to do with the countryside. It’s just kind of flat and boring. I really prefer the countryside of the Rhone valley or Burgundy or a number of other regions. Sorry to say my least favorite countryside in France and I’ve been to Picardie.

Now obviously no one is going to argue that the wine isn’t exceptional in Bordeaux, most famous region in the world.

As an FYI, Mrs. Ferguson has Wofford +10000 to win March Madness, so you might as well all go all-in. You heard it here first.

Also did a sick bunch of wine tastings this past weekend and off to LA this Friday.

GLGL with your brackets.

No I have no PTO. I’m paid when I work and not paid when I don’t. Take about 6 months off a year though.

Good for you; I have the same set-up, and I take a decent bit of time off, but I always find myself making up those hours by working 10-12 hour days for a week per month and working on 1 weekend per month as well. It is hard to pass up on the money; I always view it as a way to retire by 50 years old. Maybe I will start taking more time off and just saying f*ck it and not make up the hours.

From TF's earlier report....

"I’m drinking and having a good time and being very friendly with the table when the MFX gets in about $700 with an over and flush draw to some British grinder who has an overpair. Unfortunately the grinder wins and the MFX only rebuys for $200. During that hand, the grinder made a raise to $180 on the flop and I said “One hundred and eigggghhhhty” doing my best darts announcer impersonation. Douchebag grinder asks dealer to have me not talk about the hand. WTF."

Thought of the perfect response reading this(a year later...)

Continuing in the dart-voice...."Bettor requires....Silence...."

Have a minor wine update for TF. Per TF recs finally checked out the Riesling section at our local place that is kind of a total wine knockoff. Only one of his rec producers I could find was Donnhoff, with the 2017 Nahe Riesling for around $20. I scoured labeled and couldn’t find a sweetness indicator word such as trocken, etc. So not sure where it falls.

As far as drinking, wife and I enjoyed it and would buy again. We are complete wine noobs, but she probably described it best saying when you first sip it you think it’s going to be sweet and syrupy, but then you realize it’s more sharp. A few minutes later my mouth sort of felt dried out like after a red in some ways. As far as flavor all I can say is it tastes like Riesling and did seem to have some sweetness.

Next up (which could be weeks) have 2017 Rheingau Weingut Robert Weil Trocken Riesling because on the shelf it was directly next to the producer TF recommended and same price. I’m kicking myself for not taking pics of the options, next time.

Addendum: now 15 minutes later mouth kind of feels like I ate some sour candy, so guess it definitely had some acidity.

Ha, sounds like you definitely got some trocken rieslings. Weil is a great producer too.

Just got back from Vegas so will post a quick update soon.

Cheers
