I meant to take more pictures in and around Sam's Town but for some reason I can't put my finger on, my head seemed a little foggy all weekend. I grabbed a couple of the park on my way out. Obviously it doesn't compare to strip properties or any of the newer ones, but on its own, it's a decent little place imo

Was always a nice spot there to get away from the casino floor.

I assume the Angry Butcher is where the old steakhouse used to be--can't recall the name of it back when I was going there.

if u ever want live poker when u stay at Sam's Town, there is a poker room just up the street at Boulder Station.

bad news is the room is mostly filled with homeless looking people whenever I've walked by. not sure how good the games are (I've never tried to play there).

No need to apologize for not playing poker! It's always fun to compare notes regarding Vegas trips, especially when I'm going next week.

Can’t believe I missed this epic trip. Awesome Wolf Creek golf, awesome craps runs, Sam’s.

I should've replied to these sooner. Sam's Town was $10 craps the whole time I was there. With 20X odds! As recently as a couple years ago it was always $5, but I'm pretty sure it was $10 when I was in town in November and January.

Darn that’s crazy. I could’ve sworn up to 2019 Sam’s was a $3 at slow times and $5 at busy times craps table. $3 and 20X odds could be really interesting.

It was indeed 22oz, but it was bone in so there's your weight. Would've been easy enough to finish on its own, but the crab cakes and scallops got in the way.

Sorry to bring this up from the first couple of pages but thought it was an interesting topic.

He's likely 100% right but not for the reasons of skill differential between the two as much as mental resilience & the stakes involved. Poker is a very natural comparison, World Series final table for 8 figures naturally seperates who can maintain mental composure in the clutch stage. Putting for a Tour win is practically like for like in my opinion.

I've never been, but Sam's Town atrium looks really cool.

My only complaint about this TR is that there are no interior steak pics. Looks good, though!

Its a great place to play video poker and drink for free. So many 25c progressives, you're almost certain to find a +EV game or two.

The atrium is a chill hangout spot. Whether just walking around, grabbing a bench on the second level balcony by the elevators, or plopping down at the bar in the middle for some VP...just a very relaxed vibe.

Can't do much about it now, but on this one, the interior looks a lot like the exterior, lol

One thing I really enjoy about Sam's is just how small it is. The casino reminds me of the casino on Carnival cruise ships. Just one craps table going most times, a few blackjack tables, a few pai gow(no Pai Gow on the cruises, but you get my point), etc. Probably not more than 7-10 total at any time...at least currently. If you're there for a few days you'll see a lot of the same people at the craps tables every day. Same floor, same dealers. Players get to know each other, you make acquaintances, dealers and floor people recognize you and greet you. The whole big fish in a small pond thing, without actually having to be a whale. Being a small town person, I enjoy the little spots.

What is your preferred craps betting strategy?
Had a few people ask about craps so I should respond.

Using the $10 table at Sam's as the example. I'll usually bet $10 on the pass line, then get heavy on the odds. It's usually $30 odds on the 4/10, $40 on the 5/9, $50 on the 6/8. When a roll was going good, sometimes the odds would get as high as 10x and end up with $100 behind. Because of craps odds, there's no need to go bigger on the pass line unless backing it up with $200 isn't enough. That was never an issue.

Once the point is set I'll go one of two ways. 1)Come bets. Like at the beginning, it's a $10 come bet, then the same 3x, 4x, or 5x odds. Usually I'd only set 2 more points, for 3 total, then ride it from there, placing another come bet when one of my numbers hit. Occasionally I'd do a come bet every roll and just keep all the numbers covered, bumping up my odds on different numbers as they hit. If the point hit, I'd always leave my odds "working" on the next come out roll.

2)Doing a few units on a couple different numbers, then pressing up as they hit. Say the point is 5. I'd usually put $30 on the 6 & 8, then go to $42, then $60, then $90, and on up in $30 increments. Sometimes I'd start at $60. Other times I'd start at $18 and go up $6 each time...just depending on how things were going and how my roll was holding up. Sometimes I'd spread $10 bets across all the numbers, and bump each one a $5 unit when it hits. I think I had my 6 up to $240 on a couple occasions after starting at $30.

Several times I had $600-$700(maybe more) spread across the table when the hook came out. It always stung seeing that much money raked away, but then I'd look at my rack of chips. If I had that much on the table, it had been a very very profitable roll.

I'm an action junkie, so if I'm only playing a couple numbers, I'll mix in some FIELD bets, hard ways, etc, just so I'm winning or losing something on every roll. I'd usually throw $1 or two on the Tall/Small/All bonus bet just for the fun of celebrating with the table when it gets close. And of course I'd mix in bets for the dealers as well. Usually hard ways or pass line bets.

That's pretty much it. If things are going bad, all the bets get a little smaller and less numbers get played. It can be pretty volatile at times, but how else do you expect to run up a big stack of chips. Obviously there's no +EV craps strategy other than just not playing, but what fun is that? It just comes down to getting lucky at the right times. Some would even call it

I am talking to a Sam's Town host now as I am tying. I try to get a room and play some craps there after reading this post. Craps is also my game.

nice report, glad you had a good time. I've never tried craps before but I may have to learn.
I'm a fan of staying off Strip most of the time. Haven't been to Sams, sounds like it was good for you.
Very enjoyable read and pics and glad the $ results were positive

Thanks!

There's no reason not to give craps a shot. It used to intimidate the **** out of me till I realized how simple the game really is. And with everywhere seemingly having some form of bubble craps, you can learn on that for as low as $1 bets if you want. Easiest way is standing by someone who is playing who is willing to explain what they're doing for 5-10 minutes. Easy game after that. Though I still don't know all the bets and odds on the table.

Like Tom Ames mentioned earlier, there's not a more fun place to be on a casino floor than a hot craps table.
