The good news is I slept better last night than I did before my last round. The bad news is I wasn't asleep till well after 12 and was up at 4.

Another early morning round of golf. This time a 6:17 tee time on the Wolf course at Paiute Golf Resort, 1 of their 3 courses. I got to the course around 5:15 and was immediately impressed with how nice everything looked. From the the pro shop to the locker rooms, everything was impressive.

I was even early enough to catch another sunrise over the mountains while getting warmed up on the range

The course was a lot different than Wolf Creek Wednesday, and much more enjoyable. It didn't have quite the views or the ridiculous elevation changes, but it was much more playable. We also got around in just over 4 hours, which was a welcome change from Wednesday's round. Where Wolf Creek felt very gimmicky, this course was a lot more traditional. No blind shots. Everything was right in front of you. Rolling fairways, elevated greens, lots of bunkers...a very straight forward course. But wow, the conditions were immaculate. This time of year a lot of courses can't water enough so they end up burned out. Bare spots on the fairways, spotty greens, thinning tee boxes, etc. Not here. Apparently since they're on Indian land they don't have the same water restrictions most of Vegas has...at least that's what my playing partners told me. Full fairways. Thick lush roughs. Fast smooth greens. Everything you want from a course.

With this course being less gimmicky, the pictures aren't as impressive and do the course a disservice, but here they are anyway. The great conditions really stand out.

I didn't score as good today, but kept it together and still had a solid round.

The greens killed me today. I only made 1 putt outside 4', and missed several from inside that...including a 2' birdie putt on #10. Having 20' for eagle and walking away with par is frustrating. I hit the ball pretty well overall. On most every hole I was in or just off the fairway, then on or just off the green. The greens were way faster than anything I've played recently, and they didn't hold much spin either. Between that, extremely windy conditions at times, and trying to adjust to distances at 3000 feet of elevation when you're used to 1200, the whole day was a grind...but in a good way.

For the first 12 holes or so, we had a wonderful cloud covered sky, even getting misted on early in the round. Towards the end, the clouds moved out and things got steamy quick. But nowhere close to Wednesday's round.

This course didn't have as many memorable holes as Wolf Creek, but it did have this one

The par 3 15th is a copy of #17 at TPC Sawgrass. I don't know if green size is the same, but the shape, slope, and front bunker made it easy to recognize. I hit a solid 9 iron to 20 feet and got the 2 putt par.

All in all a great round. After struggling on the front, it was time for some aiming fluid and a bowl(or two) at the turn. I only wanted 3, but when it's 3 for $12 or 6 for $20, how do you not buy 6? A couple came back to the casino with me.

Got back to Sam's and met up with J for lunch at T.G.I.Fridays again. Got a big bacon cheeseburger and fries. Standard stuff, but it again hit the spot. I got back to the room to shower and get cleaned up while J finishes up some work on his computer in his room.

Currently I'm enjoying a couple beers in the room while typing this up. Soon J should be ready and we'll be heading down to try our best to crush a craps table. Before that, I'm pretty sure there will be some THC consuming going on. Probably lots.

legooooooooo!!!

Edit: The short missed birdie putt was on 6, not 10. Not sure why a 6 got written down for #6. It was a 5. Felt like a bogey I guess.

Love the sunrise and golf photos. Seems like two good courses to play in a trip.

Playing courses where there is nothing around u for miles is really peaceful. Coyote Springs is another one, about an hour north of the Strip.

Not sure if u saw the exit for Mt Charleston on your drive out to Paiute. If u had turned and went that way, you'd have been at 8,000' and 80 degree temps in about 35 minutes. Most people are shocked to learn that type of setting actually exists near Las Vegas.

So you actually shot a 79, but signed an incorrect scorecard (shades of Roberto DV).

We had dinner at The Angry Butcher. Shrimp cocktail and 10oz filet. Really really good. We'll eat there again tomorrow and Sunday.

fading the hapless dbacks never a bad play (until they prove they can actually win a game).

Last night is a bit fuzzy but I think I lost about $700(-850 at craps, -100 at VP, +250 sports bets). Also lost CCR at dinner for 150ish. Lots of Coronas and serval trips to the room to smoke. Was asleep by 10:00, lol.

Met J for breakfast this morning, again at TGIFridays. Just came back to the room to smoke, now getting ready to go attack the tables.

Played pai gow for a couple hours. In for $600, out for $600. Now headed out to smoke a preroll, then back to craps for a bit before hitting up The Angry Butcher again tonight.

Hung out in the parking garage smoking a preroll, then hit craps for a while. Lost 275. Heading to the steakhouse while deciding who we're betting on tonight. Probably another preroll or bong after dinner, then back to the tables.

Damn! That food looks great. I'm afraid I would have made the rookie mistake of eating too much bread.

Good luck on the game!
