Back story
For the past 8 years or so we've had a handful of people come over for Thanksgiving. My buddy(J from my last TR) and his family would come over and my mom would fly out from NC. My daughter always has a dance recital around Thanksgiving so it was a good excuse for mom to come out every year. Simply coming out to visit her son stopped being a good enough reason years ago. J and his family moved back to NY in early July and my mom made plans to visit her brother and sister in OH this year, so it's back to just the four of us. We don't really want to mess with putting together a feast for just us 4 so off to Vegas we go.

The trip
I'll drop the wife and kids off at the airport tonight and they'll fly up to meet up with my MIL who is driving down from Oregon or Washington or wherever she lives in the northwest. I'll drive up tomorrow after a half day at the office. We'll be staying at the Luxor this trip. I've never stayed at, or even been inside off, the Luxor so I'm looking forward to checking it out. When my wife and MIL haven gotten together in the past it's always been at MGM properties so that's where they have their room offers. All mine are at CET properties but I figure now is as good of time as any to start working on MLife comp offers.

I don't know what type of rooms they booked for themselves and the kids, but I booked a Pyramid Elite Suite for me and presumably mrs_outlaw. I don't know why I booked a 1200 sq ft suite, or what I'm going to do with that much space, but when I booked 5 months ago there wasn't much difference in cost compared to a "normal" room so it kinda just happened.

What to expect from this TR
-Pictures. Lots and lots of pictures
-Lots of family activities and touristy stuff. The wife has been busy on Groupon so it sounds like we're going go-kart racing, zip lining at Rio, riding rides on top of the Strat, and taking another spin on the High Roller. The kids have enjoyed that the past 2 trips we've made so we might as well do it again.
-Golf. Right now I only have one round booked, 9:30 Thursday at TPC Las Vegas, but a Friday round is probably getting booked too once I find out when all this other stuff is happening.
-Pit degening. $10-$25 craps, $25-??? pai gow, etc
-Lots of beer & THC consumption, though almost certainly less than last time since I'm there with the family instead of J
-Thanksgiving dinner at Excalibur for the Tournament of Kings
-Meeting up with a couple 2p2 buddies
-The kids have requested sushi and pho this trip, so I expect both will happen

GL! Hopefully the kids are old enough they don't require 24hr supervision.

I'm going in expecting exactly that...blah. But when you're used to staying at Sam's Town, how bad can it be? 15 & 17. So while we can't turn them loose to explore Vegas on their own, we don't have to drag them around with us the whole trip either. It's amazing how content teenage girls can be to sit it their rooms and play on their phones.

The hardest part of any Vegas trip, for me anyway, is the last few hours before hitting the road. That's where I'm at now. About 2 hours left till go time, then the 4 hour drive.

I got packed last night and completely forgot about a shoe pic so I'll reuse the one from last trip with a little customization. Javanewt gave me a hard time about packing so many shoes last time so I left one pair of golf shoes and one pair of tennis shoes behind this trip. Tom Ames will be disappointed to know I haven't replaced the sandals yet.

The roll is about 3k, but I'll add to it if needed. The hotel, golf, food, etc will get paid for separately, so that 3k is just for gambling. Let's run it up!

Made it to town and got checked in. I don't know how many floors this pyramid has but I'm on 30. Can't be many more above us. This suite is pretty massive, especially compared to what I'm accustomed to. 2 bathrooms, huge bedroom, huge living room area, 2 entrances into the suite...way more than we need but I'm not sending it back! No dresser oddly enough.

Off to find the kids and see which activity they're wanting to do tonight. Hopefully not the Strat. I gotta get mentally prepared for that and I'm not there yet. After fulfilling dad requirements it'll be time to hit the tables.

Apparently Luxor doesn't have pai gow. That messes up a lot of plans.

A floor guy told me the closet place to find it was Mandalay Bay.

I can't recall ever being in Vegas for 16 hours and not having placed a bet yet. Sorry about the lack of photos and degening last night. The wife and kids kept me going till almost 1:00.

First we walked through Excalibur and over to NY NY to ride the roller coaster. All 4 of us did it the first time, then the kids made another lap. It was a pretty fun ride and I'm glad I finally made it a point to do it.

Then it was off to the High Roller, along with spending a couple hours in the Miracle Mile along the way. The ride was fine as always. Apparently they've done away with the BOGO if you have a Caesers card like they had the past 2 times we rode it so that stung a little, but whatever. My daughter even recorded a TikTok dance with me. No, that video isn't getting posted itt.

After the High Roller it was back to Luxor, part of the way by tram and the rest on foot. Once we got back we grabbed food at some deli downstairs to take back to the room. All 3 orders were screwed up so we had to make a trip back down. Shame on us for not checking the orders first I guess. By the time we got done eating I didn't have the energy to go back downstairs to gamble knowing I had to be up before 7 for golf. I had a beer in my hand almost all night and had 50mg of edibles along the way so I was pretty well done by then anyway.

Now, I just finished watching the sunrise over the mountains from our room and shortly I'll be heading over to TPC for my 9:30 tee time. It's going to be nice playing in weather 50-60 degrees cooler than when I was here in June. Though I didn't pack any long pants so hopefully it warms up a little pretty quickly.

After golf I'll have a few hours to kill till our dinner over at Excalibur, then nothing after that I don't think. That may be the first chance I get to sit down at a table.

Kind of chilly here at night this week, but nice and clear days.....

So far so good! If only I could putt.

Got back from golf a few minutes ago. Now it's time to smoke, grab a shower, and head downstairs for a short session of something before heading to Excalibur for the dinner and show. Nothing planned for after that so hopefully I'll finally be able to spend some extended time at the tables.
