Easy way to grind some comps on the strip? Easy way to grind some comps on the strip?

I guess this could go in the general thread, but hoping for a few responses specific to this. I've been to Vegas a handful of times, but basically only play cash game poker. Very little time on slots/BJ/roulette/etc.

However, with hotels creeping up in price, I'm wondering what's the most +EV way to get some kind of payoff re future rooms being comped.

Is there a simple strategy? $xx spun through a slot machine? X hours at the BJ table (bet size matters I suppose...). Etc etc.

Thanks

you and a friend could play craps with big bets. one play pass the other dont pass at the same table only lose $ on a 12 on the comeout and then split the money afterwards. seems like a pretty low risk way to have an avg bet of 50-100$ and youll both recieve good comps

heh, clever!

I'll be flying solo this summer, but that's not a bad idea.

I guess I'm wondering if I should waste a few hours on (close to neutral) pit games to make me slightly more attractive, or just f--- it and play poker all day.

Poker is the only +ev thing I can think of, if you're a winning or close to break even player. Even if you're a very slight loser, the reward credits can make up for it. That would get you higher card status, but maybe no comps other than the reward credits.

You can try the craps scam, but craps pit bosses weren't born yesterday, and they'll figure it out after awhile.

If you want free rooms, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way - lose a moderate amount of money, or win a lot.

Is the myvegas(or similar named) app a way to earn comps too?

Not sure if typical, but first time I stayed in an MLife property I put a shared room on my credit card and lost about $300 playing video poker over course of 4 days (not hitting any royals so wasn’t like I won big and gave it back) and since then I’m getting email offers for 3-4 days free at MGM + 50 freeplay + 50 resort credit. So not +EV but seems like decent trade off to me, but maybe just some sort of intro promotion to get me back the first time?

You can always call the hotel and ask for the poker rate, if they have one. You'll be required to play for a certain amount of time each day, but you were going to have to do that anyway to get a discount.

Total rewards comps pretty good for little play at their non premium properties

Something like ultimate Texas hold em is good for comps bc if you play perfect strategy and don't do the stupid side bets you're playing at like a 2.5 percent disadvantage

But most people play so bad they're playing at 25% or more disadvantage so the comps are based on a very big house edge

Simplest strategy is to not play for comps, it will cost you a lot more than an $80 room. By the way, even if you get comped u are still paying the $40ish per night fee, you will not gamble enough to get out of that. Budget for the room, grind and see what offers you start getting

It's not a scam and I can't imagine any pit boss that would care. It is a 100% losing system. As in, no possible chance at even a short term upswing. If you're betting both sides, they always cancel each other out...except for a 12 on the come out in which both sides lose. I think the system is often referred to as Dewey Don't. I've seen people try it and the dealers are insanely fast to point out it is a guaranteed loss. All you have to do is roll one or two 12s on the come out at $100 and your comps value on the hotel is gone.

Of course everything you say is logical. But casinos aren't logical, and for some reason they do care about stuff like this and will shut down the comps on people who do this sort of hedging.

Yup, the grumpiness level of craps boxmen and pit bosses is unmatched elsewhere in the casino.

How likely is it the average 2p2 degen be able to resist those bets, especially after I mention a 2p2'er won 25 grand on one of those bets? It was Let it Ride iirc, but a similar game.

Find the busiest Pai Gow Poker table and play the house ways every hand. Bet minimum except when the pit boss comes over, then increase your bet x5.

If you’re going to play Pai Gow, find a table where you’re alone so you can bank every other hand. That reduces the house edge from 3% down to around half a percent. Although playing Pai Gow without taking the sucker bet is pure death, and that bet is like 7% by itself.

And don’t bother with the “when the pit boss is looking” plan, silly and doesn’t work.

Not entirely true. The bet on the Don't Pass line pushes when a 12 comes out.

I'm not sure what to say other than you're wrong.

Just trolling now. Standard internet forum I suppose. I've been a Don't player for years. Never had my bet taken on a 12.

Whoops. My apologizes. I had to reread everything and somehow I was reading that as pass line instead of don't. You are correct.
