going this weekend, first time in 10 years. playing the 25k guaranteed at the Wynn Saturday at noon. besides that it'll be low stakes BJ and probably a session of 1/2... that usually keeps me entertained enough... plus watching the NFL games Sunday.

OK, what about sports betting for those of us who don't do a lot of sports betting? Seems like it's fun to put money on a few games. I'll be there on a Saturday later this month so I'm thinking college football. Any advice for casual sports betting to make it interesting and something to keep track of while playing poker?

What I like to do is place a bet or two (maybe parlay) and head over to the sporting house at NYNY. Awesome sports bar atmosphere guaranteed to have your game playing and its located right next to the sports book. If youre going to be playing poker while the games are on, the ESPN app should work fine for checking scores, but ideally you would want tvs in the poker room.

I know Bellagio and Venetian have TVs in the room (not sure about Aria), but it would depend on how close you are to a TV and whether or not it would have the game on that you have bet.

All 3 of them have their poker rooms right next to their sports books too (Venetian and Bellagio being much better than Aria) so you can also take a short break to go catch up on scores or watch the end of a game you have a bet on.

Last year at Venetian, the Floor would change the closest TV to your game of choice for a small gratuity.

Not sure if I asked this already, but how do you guys keep track of your wins in Vegas? In the past, I tried to keep my gambling bankroll separate from my food/other bankroll, but that quickly breaks down when you are scrounging for taxi fare etc.

More recently I've been bringing a small notebook and logging each session. I suppose there are phone apps for this? What works best?

Any winnings go back into a separate envelope into a little locked case I bring. That goes into a safe. That money never comes out again until I take it out to go home.

Poker Journal. Spend the money and get the good one, it's worth it.

Here is the free one, if you want to try it out.

It's a nice feeling to get a beer at a convenience store and walk down the strip with it.

I like to get a beer at Margaritaville and people watch the strip traffic on the sidewalk just below. You see all kinds.

Take notes on your phone or on the notepad each hotel conveniently places in your room.

Just don't bring it into the car, as a passenger. Open container laws still apply. I saw a guy get busted by a bike cop in stop and go traffic on the Strip. Not sure if this applies to Limos? (and if not, why would it be different? I guess the tinted windows cut down on noticing any illegal actions...

My brother is a big fan of that place for blackjack and craps. The dealers are friendly and there is a positive vibe.

2. Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, it is unlawful for a person to have an open container of an alcoholic beverage within the passenger area of a motor vehicle while the motor vehicle is upon a highway. This subsection does not apply to a motor vehicle which is designed, maintained or used primarily for the transportation of persons for compensation, or to the living quarters of a house coach or house trailer.

I always laugh when I see traffic on the strip totally stopped (as it so often is) and the bike cops riding between cars shining flashlights in looking for open containers. People: the cops aren't bright, but you still have to be smarter than them.

We were allowed open beers once in a cab going from Strip (think we were at Wynn) to downtown. Pretty sure we took highway, so yeah.

We took a private Escalade from MGM to the Wynn and we had bottles of champagne in the back and front seats. We did, however, take the highway.

Let's spell it out, again. Legal in a limo, bus, or cab. NOT legal in a private car.

Unbelievable that I can post the specific law ITT and people either still don't get it or keep posting anecdotal stories about drinking in cabs.

Easy, tiger.

There's always something on my wishlist that I never get around to doing. For awhile I've wanted to check out the Peppermill. I've been to the one in Reno, but I thought the Vegas one might be fun. But it's a bit out of the way (north of the Wynn?).

I assume you mean you've been to the casino in Reno (and somehow your mind wasn't ****ed by it?) Anyway, you're not missing much by not going to the coffee shop/lounge in Vegas if you've already experienced the acid trip that is Peppermill in Reno. And yes, it's north of Wynn but not that far, about halfway between Encore and Riviera.

Please pluralize "tiger" when referring to me, I am not actually a tiger.

Peppermill is cool, the fireside lounge is awesome for drinks and they have ridiculously large breakfasts that IMO are better and less gimmicky than Hash House.
