Shoulda done an omelet. Worth standing around for and I hate lines.

One way to find out for sure.

Most buffet food is. I still have a bunch of tickets. I'll use them someday when I'm in the mood for some ice cream or a cookie or something else that's hard to mess up. It's still decent value for the ticket considering how much a dish of ice cream or a couple cookies would cost on the Strip.

It's to bad the report has come to such an abrupt halt. I was especially really looking forward to learning about Doc's meeting with the worlds most interesting man.

Doc, if you happened to have blacked out or something, and woken in the arms of a woman you don't remember ever meeting, it's nothing to be embarrassed about reporting. To the contrary.

I've come back due to the change in ownership and wanted to comment on that, but I am not the type of person to do that without giving some closure to this trip report.

I disappeared because I got really sick after returning from Vegas and while I was ill in bed my wife threw my trip notes away thinking they were trash. This threw me into a depression and I felt really bad about not being able to do the epic trip report I planned. I didn't even lurk here until recently.

I will be giving just the highlights and lowlights by Sunday evening. Probably do more posting today, but everything I want to say about trip will be up by Sunday evening.

I think one good thing covid did was the closure of the Paris buffet.

Doc glad you’re not dead, actually started to wonder.

That being said I was almost certain you’d half ass this trip report. You pumped yourself up for months in preparation of this trip. Of course you where going to be let down to your expectations.

Las Vegas

The Good

The food at Hell's Kitchen. I think I went there three times. Our local CET casino now has a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and the menu is virtually the same as Hell’s Kitchen.

I did pretty good at tournament poker, the slots, and VP. I think I cashed in four tournaments, I won almost $400 on a penny slot machine, and I won over $200 on a quarter VP machine.

I got to meet the most interesting person and I will post more about her later.

The Bad

The breakfast at the Paris buffet was horrid and so bad I didn't go back even though my poker play entitled me to eating there free.

I gave back a lot of my poker tournament winnings while playing cash games.

I got approached by a lady of the evening, er morning, while trying to find the poker room at Caesars Palace. Given her manner of dress, time of day, and lack of inebriation is why I think she was a professional.

I also got approached by an amateur in an elevator at Bally's. She was a skinny redheaded looked young enough to be my granddaughter who suggested we swap phone numbers which her male friend found amusing. Even though my phone was in my pocket, I said I didn't have it and hoped it didn't go off exposing my lie. Later, I wish I had told her I was an amateur photographer who wished to put my phone's camera to good use and she should come to my room. Just to see her reaction, but I would have been in trouble if she had said yes given I had no such intention of doing any such thing.

The Ugly

Telling a tale of woe to the most interesting person. All my tournament cashes came from chops and the ones at Bally's were instigated by the most interesting person. I went to play cash after one such chop and promptly lost most of my winnings. TMIP was playing another tournament and I went over to tell them my tale of woe. Bad Doc, bad.

Astute readers will have figured out the most interesting person is named Sarah.

Sarah is a trans woman from Utah. She has, if I remember correctly, two sons and she used to be in the tech industry.

What makes her interesting isn't that she is a trans woman, but rather her presence at the poker table and how she dominated for the most part. It was almost like we (the other people at the table) were fencing against Sarah and we were unarmed.

This is where I really mourn the loss of my notes as I had some examples of this.

Sarah, if you are reading this, I hope we can play against each other again some day.

Thanks to all who replied in my other thread when I was asking for help on deciding on which casino to stay at during this past trip.

Bally's was the right choice. I went with a room in the resort tower and although the view was nothing to right home about, the decor really spoke to me and it was quiet.

It saddens me to thank Bally's may be one of the CET properties on the chopping block as I think the poker room was really great and I would hate for the people to be replaced.

Another person I enjoyed meeting was a lady who had a connection to Forrest Fenn. The lady ran a website about him and his exploit.

For those who don't know, Fenn was the man who buried a treasure and then published a book giving clues where it was.

When I picked my wife up from the airport back then, I mentioned the buried treasure and we were going to take some vacation time and go search, but there were two problems.

The first was that copies of Fenn's book were hard to come by and very expensive. The second problem was covid shutting down travel before we could search.

It is all moot now as someone has found the treasure.
