I should have done a longer post explaining why I use a limo, but I was trying to show another option.

With a limo, I get met at baggage claim and don't have to wait in line like I would for a taxi or find the pickup point like I would for Uber or Lyft. Also, my ride back to the airport is already booked.

For my seeming limo addiction, I blame Tropicana. When the wife and I stayed there the first time, it was part of a large gathering and we (the wife and I) were disappointed by the hotel. Upon returning home, I mentioned that to one of the organizers and he asked I speak to the Trop. I did so and they comped us a stay which included a limo ride from and to the airport.

And if you’re just going casino to casino, there’s little to no chance of a long haul and I trust a cabbie to get there more efficiently than an Uber driver glued to the GPS.
As long as you don't say "fastest way" to the cabbie. As I have said earlier, I made that mistake once. Once.

To add insult to injury, when we were at a stoplight our cabbie rolled down his window to speak to a fellow cabbie and let him know he (our cabbie) had a couple of rubes in back.

A limo might be a reasonable option specifically from the airport, but this isn't what the OP was asking. I can't imagine booking a limo is more convenient just going from one casino to another, or most other travel within Vegas.

Who knows what OP wants.

Fact is, he/she didn't say what they were going to use Uber for.

But if the OP didn't specify, why would you assume they were talking about a ride from the airport?

You didn't even specify this in your initial reply, suggesting you used a limo whenever you were traveling anywhere in Vegas.

You are right. I made an assumption. It comes from how I view this section as it is actually more Las Vegas Visiting than Las Vegas Living.

How do you know I don't?

I am posting on a virtual keyboard on my phone and I think that causes me to leave out certain details that are clear to me.

Uber always seemed to be at least a dollar more.
I usually used uber.
I used lyft once or twice, maybe seemed a little less professional, but, variance, and It doesn't bother me. I just usually used uber because it does the best advertising / word of mouth.

Uber and Lyft are literally the same service. At the end of the day it's locals, ride-sharing their vehicles. Most drive for both services. The Uber/Lyft pricing is almost purely based on demand + distance + (pennies per minute). The price will fluctuate $1-6 even to the same destination.

Here's a screenshot from my last Vegas trip on Lyft. The first ride on the 2nd was from the airport to The D downtown. Every other ride was from the D to South Point, and from South Point to the D. The last ride (1st in the screenshot) was from South Point to the airport when I left.

$4-5 tip included on every ride. There was never more than a $2 discrepancy in price between Uber/Lyft. Uber was more expensive in most cases but only because the wait time was longer due to demand.

I use Lyft in all of my travel exclusively for the past 2 years. They send great promo codes for frequent use. After this Vegas trip I got a promo for 10% off rides through the end of August anywhere in the U.S. the best promo I ever saw was 20% off rides through the end of the month and a couple of "flat rate monthly pass" offers. But I believe those were regional to DC

Uber has rakeback, and right now I am getting 50% off up to $10 if do 2 rides the previous week, but Lyft is good too.

I have both apps installed and go with the one offering the best price/promotion.

Wait, didn't you write in another thread that your 1/2 bankroll is $600? I'm impressed with your budgeting skills

I use Uber, but only because I've been too lazy to download the Lyft app. Need to do that because it will probably get me a free ride somewhere.

Again those are estimates.
This is awesome. In case someone didn't notice, the guy hailing a cab is up with the car, walk, etc., symbols.

In case it hasn't been mentioned, do NOT pay for a cab with your credit card: It adds $3 to the bill!

lol, that is a pretty long distance for casino hopping back and forth. You got pretty good rates.

You probably could have stayed at SouthPoint for less than the D + uber roundtrip........ maybe sleep in a car and shower at "the truckstop" even ?

Fwiw, I use uber regularly to/from the airport, also in various cities outside the US. The service is a great innovation, especially overseas where local currency is a pain to carry.

Not sure why I don't use lyft, no good reason not to.

(fwiw UberEats is also a good service in Las Vegas.)

FWIW I find that Uber has better navigation software. In other words, the routing the driver takes is usually better with Uber.

I had a LYFT driver ask me how I wanted to go to my condo. I replied just follow what your app says. Then driver asked me do I want to stop at a liquor store, because booze is expensive at hotels. I'm like can you just take me home. Then they were like do you want to go to a dispensary? Finally he gets the message, I'm not interested in stopping and then says, "What hotel are you staying at?" I'm like I live here.

AND I can usually spot the former cab drivers when they STILL ask how I want to go!?! I'm like just follow what the app says on YOUR phone and show them my phone has the same route! Seriously, like WTF. Anyway, 1 star and no tip when they do that.

Lyft has quietly raised their prices. I am a 5 star passenger with them and even with 10% off up to 25% off, they are not cheaper than Uber now. I wrote to them and received no response.

I'm shocked ("Shocked!") some corporation treats it's long term value customers like something they have to scrape off their shoes. Banks, ISPs, casinos, credit cards, phone companies, etc, all do it. New customers (even with big discounts?) are more valuable then full price long term customers, I guess.

Actually, studies have shown that acquiring new customers cost more than retaining existing customers. Also, existing customers are more likely to utilize additional services than new customers.

Loyalty with Uber, Lyft, or any company should be rewarded, but increasingly it isn’t.

Let's try to get practical again in this thread and talk about the differences, if any, between the two options in Vegas.

I’ve only used Lyft in Vegas because at the time they had 50% off your first 10 rides. I’ve had good luck with all my drivers as well, although a small sample.

I usually use Uber at home, but in Vegas it is just so convenient to step out of a hotel and 99% of the time walk straight into a cab. Wouldn't want to bother going through ordering and then going to the pickup spot.

Lyft was cheaper this weekend plus I got a 1 month ride pass for $4.99 offer for 10 percent off all rides.

Only difference I have ever heard from drivers is that Uber software is better.
