Is it difficult to staff Vegas poker rooms right now?

I've heard a lot of qualified dealers in my room are getting DQed because they can't pass their drug tests. Is this true around town?

Are there any rooms that don't drug test for seasonal workers?

In a place where parking garages, hotel hallways, and even Strip sidewalks often wreak with weed stench I wouldn't be surprised if even non-stoners are getting failed.

Have to laugh at a generation of workers that thinks an employer should overlook drug use just because the worker is seasonal...

If you want to work for an employer that does not permit drug use, then it is not a challenge to simply NOT USE DRUGS.

I am sure there are PLENTY of qualified dealers that are capable of following the rules set forth by HR guidelines.

Solution is to switch from weed -> coke, ldo. And I have to laugh at employers who overlook a qualified candidate because they smoke pot.

Caveat: for cause, public safety, and maybe other reasons to test, but all other things being equal, IDGAF if my dealer (heh) or bartender indulges after hours, and neither should MGM, CET, etc.

Same as other low/non-qualification jobs, they want people who are just qualified and stay on the job. Drug users and overqualified applicants create additional overhead that nobody wants. Nobody really cares about weed. People care about turnover because that costs money.

Thatís the reason why they still do drug testing at low level jobs even though the vast majority of private sector employers donít test when hiring for jobs that require a qualification.

They test because they can, if the labor pool was too tight to weed out drug users they would have to make a different choice. It’s not some high and mighty position. They have the ability to hire the guy who doesn’t use vs the guy who does, even if the difference in performance is non-existent in most cases.

Are ALL employees in casinos tested for weed?
Forget keeping dealers on staff, how do you keep the food service
employees staffed

Seems like more a test of reliability to me, if someone can't do something as simple as not smoke weed for x days before an interview etc, how can they be sure that they'll show up for work while not high?

The rooms seem fully staffed in my experience this past week. Quality overall always suffers during the WSOP.

What I did get were two dealers who made it a point to mention "I deal all over the country". (Both really were decent enough and perhaps they were just talkative.)

OTOH, I had two other dealers last night at the V who made multiple errors each in a simple NLH $1-2 game, like forgetting there was a player left to act before going to the flop or misreading hands at showdown....Perhaps they were fatigued or worked beyond their regular capacity, but it required watching them

Beginning January 1, 2020 it will no longer be legal in Nevada to deny employment based on the a positive test for marijuana:

I, for one, welcome our new stoner over-lords. - Kent Brockman

Cheers to NV for sanity over hysteria regarding MJ.
