Got an email today linking to 2018 tier benefits. Looks like some heavy cuts, the biggest of which is no more free rooms just for being 7star.

no big deal if you're lvl 1.
huge deal if you usually make lvl 2

The diamond aspirations were cut

That's the only reason I ever wanted to be 7 Star. They must know (and want) a lot of 7 Stars will leave.

Yeah pretty much the only reason I re-upped my 7S every other year. For traveling poker players or people who go to the wsop there was so much value in it.

I probably averaged 70+ nights/year, mostly at Caesars Palace, plus all the other perks for a $2500 theoretical loss once every two years. Even incompetent Caesars was bound to catch on eventually.

Yeah, but the average 7S that stays 70 nights for free probably spends money while there, either gambling or food or whatever. So it's not like they're giving that away for only $2500.

I'm confused, is Caesars trying to cut a ton of their comps and perks while thinking that it will not have any effect on how much people play at their properties?

Don't they realize that they will lose revenue which might exceed how much they are saving by cutting random perks. I know for a fact that many people only gamble at CET properties because of their diamond and 7 star levels...both in how they are straightforward to hit and in the fact that benefits are laid out clearly.

If they cut a bunch of perks, don't they realize that people will just play at the nicer casinos on the strip? I would never put up with the old and outdated casino floor and rooms at CET properties if it wasn't was their easy to hit levels. I wonder how many others will be bailing on them now as this feels like the final straw.

The good news is that I will be playing much more poker at MGM owned properties since I will probably no longer be interested in racking up tier credits for the calendar year.

This is pretty expected, isn't it? They've been making it easier and easier to get Diamond and 7star; there has to be some kind of devaluation of the statuses eventually. I think it hurts poker players a lot, unfortunately. MGM has usually been pretty poor towards poker players as it is.

i was wondering where my aspiration 1 awards were.. says i reached aspiration 1 and so 28k more to get aspiration 2. but the 100$ folio credit that came with aspiration 1 was gone.

IF NJ merges in sooner than later, I could try for 7 stars purely from poker. When i get a full year of NJ merged in, and maybe even PA I think it will be quite easy for many poker players to make 7 stars live status purely from poker

I think sole-poker players will not be invited to be 7stars status even if they manage to accumulate the necessary tier credits. Has anyone been granted 7star purely from poker play before?

I know of several people who got 7 Star just from poker in Atlantic City around 2010. Back then, 7 Stars was 100k TCs and it was possible to get as much as 120 TC/hour from poker.

Caesars is a pretty poorly run company (duh), so it should surprise no one that it does things which would seem to run contrary to good business practices. That being said, a good friend of mine who works in the casino business filled me in on some inside baseball recently when I noticed the sorts or reductions in "perks" and general treatment I was seeing as a high volume player. He said that when the economy sucks (as it did back in '08/'09), casinos lean heavily on their whales and higher-end gamblers and those who are willing to play a high volume. So, they increase their perks and are sure to treat these people really well. When the economy is good, they actually make so much money off of the really high volume of low-end gamblers who might only visit one time, that they don't go the extra mile to entice the more high-value gamblers.

Still seems like bad business to me, but there you have it.
