To skip the hassle of moving though I figured I just pay the $80 to stay the 3 days at Horseshoe but when I try to book those days I get hit by resort fees. Is it standard to pay resort fees if you fill out the days between 2 comped bookings? Or will it be waved when I get there?

I’ve heard of people getting discounts and resort fees waived through their host when they lose on a trip, but not up front. And to be honest I’m not sure how much the host thing helps nowadays either for all but the highest rated gamblers.
Anyhow, the middle reservation is not made using your CR account. It’s as if you’re just a person off the street. You can apply discount codes which may be available to everyone (such as the WSOP code in the summer), but other than that, yes you have to pay the resort fees.
You only need to do this for two nights, though and you can add the third night to either your first or last reservation and get no resort fees for that one night.
Unless you’re willing to deal with the hassle of changing hotels, what you need to figure out is, which costs more:
A) the three reservation setup like I described where you have to pay resort fees for the middle two nights, or
B) having a single reservation for the entire stay and only getting to use 7 comps instead of 10.
Whichever is cheaper, that is what you want to do. Be aware, if you do B you can typically use the 7 comps on any night you have comps available, so it may be more beneficial to use some of them on nights other than the last 7. It’s been a while since I booked online so I’m not sure if you’re able to make a single reservation that long without calling in. However it may make sense to call in anyhow since then you can choose which of the 7 comped nights to use, and that may be better than the online system just picking the first 7.
In my experience in recent years, the difference between A and B won’t be huge given how watered down comps have become and how astronomical resort fees have become. But a little extra cash staying in your pocket never hurts.
