Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

Has anyone noticed a change in comps, etc since Eldorado took over? A friend of mine is going to Vegas for work next month and I might go over and meet him. Right now my average daily gamble is in good shape because of the trip I took in Feb, and I haven't been since. I'm afraid to stay in a CET place, even though it would be cheapest for me by far, because I'm not going to gamble this trip and my average daily would get killed. I'm still hoping to get good rates for next year's WSOP.

I won't even be able to use my celebration dinner, will I? Any evidence that I was in the place will hammer my average daily, right?

Correct. I haven't used my dinner yet either, and likely won't since I don't see a Vegas trip happening this year (my closest CET property is over 5 hours away). I happen to be driving by Horseshoe Baltimore tomorrow, but I'm not stopping in to use it for this very reason.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

You can email your host to find out for sure and they might have a way around this problem for you, but if you're so close to comps / no comps that one day will swing your average enough to hurt you, then I wouldn't take any chances.
That said, I tend to be a believer in take what they are offering now because who knows what tomorrow will bring. If you can't take advantage of a $100 meal and free / cheap nights that probably add a considerable amount of value (at least the no resort fees / parking / etc) then what good are the comps (I get your answer -- perhaps worth more next summer).

As far as comps, I haven't really seen any major changes. I tend to get rooms for free anywhere, but I got a free apple laptop last month at Caesars, and Laughlin is giving away free TVs next month, and I think there is a bicycle promotion somewhere, etc. so if anything it seems like they're using more product-based giveaways. That said, mergers seem to always come with the eventual devaluation of benefits, so I would expect that trend to continue.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

I really hate gambling at Ceasars properties. I stayed in Laughlin a couple weeks ago, and had a room a few nights at Flamingo in June and gave action.

You're saying that when I walk over to Vanderpump for free cocktails after flopping at Bellagio without gambling at Caesars I'm hurting my chances at free rooms?

Other than rooms all my offers are **** anyways, i got to Plus from about 20% live poker and 70% wsop.com.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

Most casinos operate like that. Offers are based on your ADT, which is your average play on days you are there. If you go there to use a comp, you're there that day. So the 0 gets averaged in with your other days.

Think about it if they didn't do it that way. Once you get good offers you could just stop playing and collect these offers indefinitely.

LOL, email my host.

Yes, one single day will definitely hurt my adt. I hope to play next year's WSOP if it's more or less normal, and spend 2 to 3 weeks there total. I'm not a big player, but because I ran good last Feb I could get good room prices, saving maybe 50 to a hundred bucks a night. Over a period of 20 nights it would add a substantial boost to my WSOP bankroll.

That's ASSuming my adt credit that would be over a year old would still help my comps next summer. It would be a double ball kick if I gave up my $100 dinner and didn't get good comp prices next summer.

To some degree that policy hurts CET. Next month I might want to stop by and drop a few hundo, have my celebration dinner, and my friend drop some coin too. Instead they'll get none of that.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

So, allow me to suggest something you've probably already thought of:

You could probably go, enjoy your $100 dinner and play enough that it would help your ADT but still have EV that's better than -$100 (the value of the dinner you'd otherwise give up). As an example, suppose you could play perfect basic strategy (no card counting) in a high limit room in Vegas. You could play $100 a hand for 3 hours and your Ev would only be about -$85. How you get rated can vary dramatically, but it wouldn't be uncommon to get about 500 tier credits and 500 reward credits for that play, which is worth 625 tier credits and about $5 in RC. So, you get your $100 meal plus about $5 for play that has -$85 ev, netting you a theoretical $20 and it probably doesn't hurt your ADT - might even help, depending on what you normally give the casino when you play.

The downsides to this:
3 hours of BJ might be really annoying and not worth $20 to you.
Theoretical dollars don't pay bills. You could be anywhere from -$5k to +5k with that play.
If it's not something you do regularly or have practiced, you might make mistakes and change your EV all the way to -$235 for that play.

Carpe diem. Why skip a delicious meal today? There may not even BE casinos next year. Certainly a much greater than zero chance of WSOP being online or canceled instead of cramming 1000s of people together in a room.

No, I cannot play enough to help my ADT. Last Feb I didn't have any intention of playing as much as I did. I was just trying to make a dent in what I'd need for Diamond, but I ran super hot at vp. I was able to play long enough that my room prices dropped considerably.

$100 per hand bj? LOL LOL. I have never, I repeat never ran at expectation at bj, even with +6 or +8 counts. $100 per hand I would be done in three minutes.

The meal is worth a hundred bucks. I'll just spend a hundred at a non-CET restaurant. Getting my discounted room rates is worth a lot more.

Your play from last Feb will be of little to know consequence. Offers are based on what have you done with me lately.

Caesars CEO Tom Reeg told analysts not to expect a return of promotional spending in regional markets, calling them unnecessary.

apparently even if you get on your keees and service caesars lately, it wont do much nowadays.
now im just going to goto the Diamond lounge and eat the free food and drink without play till Jan 2022.

Are you certain, or is this just conjecture?

And what is considered "lately"?

Sounds kind of short-sighted. I think they overestimate their own appeal. I'm not paying 80 bucks mid-week and twice that on weekends for a room. Not to mention the majority of my trips the last 3 or 4 years was to accumulate tier credits to make Diamond. If I have no incentive to make Diamond, I basically have no good reason to come at all except MAYBE for the WSOP. The events are so long I have to figure on a week for one event. I don't want to spend 500-800 bucks just on the room.

I like poker but I can find poker rooms that don't require me to stay overnight.

I might have to follow your plan and just get a free dinner while I can. Right now I can still get pretty good room discounts, so I wonder if they're talking about whale comps. To do what that guy was talking about they would have to dismantle the Total Rewards program and get rid of Reward Credits.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

I can't say what will happen in the future and a merger does always bring the possibility of cutting costs, but I will say that right now my comps are at least as good as they've ever been. Free Air Mac Pro last month, Free Bicycle/Scooter and TV this month, Flights with free play and dinner credits, etc etc.
If they remove celebrity DJs at night clubs and celebrity restaurants, it won't really affect me at all. Removing poker rooms and free play offers would be worse and the article mentions both of those as well. We'll have to see, but I do agree with the idea that free today is worth more than the hope of free in the future.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

Yeah, the last time I was in a night club or celebrity restaurant was... never.

The issue of taking free today is it absolutely kills any chance of free tomorrow, and for me that means no more WSOP. I'm not paying full price for mediocre CET rooms. I always thought the prices were as high as they are to make people like me feel better about getting discounts. I can't imagine someone paying 80 bucks for a room, 40 bucks for a resort fee, and then another 30 bucks for parking.

the meal is only worth 100 bucks if you were eating there anyway.

whether or not you hurt your comps by playing one day depends on your specific play history. generally i wouldn't worry about it. a few years ago i hadn't played at cet properties in over a year, got DIAD on some promo where I earned 1,000 tier credits and then had almost any night comped in vegas for the next year. i absolutely would not at that point swipe in on their properties for anything because it would have killed my offers. Only after i booked 5-6 five night comped stays during wsop would i swipe my card on their properties again and has expected my offers went to ****.

What's your play level/game? I'm looking to get back on the list for these offers.

Blackjack
I always bet at least the minimum required to play in the high stake rooms because they have the best rules. This can be as low as 50 and as high as 200. My average spread is 100-400. It could be anywhere from 1-5 hours per day and I generate somewhere between 500-2000 TC per day with the average right around 1000 (to get the TC bonus).

Caesars has gone wild with the 5x multipliers this year, so I'm 7 stars now, but historically I've been Diamond and the offers were just as good with Diamond (as they are based on theo not tier).

As a general rule, I can stay at any property for free at any time. In Tahoe and Laughlin I can book suites if they're available. In Vegas, I'd have to book a normal room and then upgrade to a suite and ask the host to comp it (which I'll do if I'm with my girlfriend, but not if I'm alone). Constant offers for free flights to Laughlin or Tahoe but almost never use the.

There are always offers, but I have a business I run, so I can't just be leaving all the time. So, I'll usually pick the best offer of the month at any of the Nevada casinos, the SoCal casino, etc. and go play. The best offer can vary dramatically. I've had coach watches, computers, tvs, tablets, but also various gift certificates ($200 amazon, for example). Sometimes it's extra points and/or multiplier for the great gift wrap up, which is a shopping event at the end of the year where you use GGWU points to buy whatever you want -- golf clubs, backpack, cell phone, whatever. The items are usually over priced but GGWU points don't count for anything else so you might as well spend them. The way the comps work is they generally have a lowball offer that you get for showing up, and a tier requirement for nicer. So, last month, as an example:
The offer was 5 free nights plus an ipad just for showing up (you could take $400 freeplay instead).
OR if you earned 2500 you could get a Mac Book Air (or 1000 free play)
OR if you earned 5000 you could get a Mac Book Air (or 1500 free play)

Then, for 7000, 10k tier credits you get the mac book air play free play. I think I had 7k credits and I took the laptop and something like $1500 free play. Note, free play vouchers are play till you lose, so much more valuable than say promo chips.

Then, you have the offers that come with your tier.
So, some of the more valuable ones:

1. Annual Retreat. 4 night stay any property in the country + $500 folio + up to $1200 in airfare + transportation.
2. $600 airfare to vegas
3. Cruise (You get 1 per year for 7 star but there are also usually a few events per year that you can play to earn. It's not 100% free, but if you wanted to do a cruise anyway it's nice).
4. Resort fees, valet, laurel lounge, spas, etc.

Then, you have whatever the hosts can do for you:
1. My primary host is in vegas and honestly she really can't do much. She always wants to book my rooms but I just do them myself. She can, however, arrange limo transportation to/from airport.
2. Then there are also hosts at a couple properties who can only help me with that specific property. I went to Harrahs So Cal recently and I texted her and asked if she could put a $100 food folio (no free alcohol in California) that night. She was off but she texted me back and let me know she asked her team to do it.
3. Then there are the hosts who are at the properties. So, generally speaking, you want to play, then spend all your RC, then bill things to your room, then ask the hosts to comp. If not, they will spend your RC first. So, depending on your theo or your actual, you can usually get hosts to cover some of your expenses. This could be anything from food after RC ran out to an Uber to the airport, etc.

Lastly, Events:
So, obviously Diamond and above get 2 show tickets per month, when shows are a thing.
But, there are also various events through the year which are basically thank you events. Usually nice dinner, alcohol, an emcee, and various giveaways. One last year had the Property Brothers there and they gave away a bunch of stuff (ranging from vehicles to free play vouchers).

There is a 7 star event during the rest of this week, but because of Covid it's really nothing more than a raffle. I copied/pasted the prizes:

Thanks for the info. Those prizes at the end are pretty sick, but I guess it depends on how many show up.

Re: Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

Man when I hear of all those comps and promos for 7star+ level of play, I realize how much of a small player I am with the multiple 40 dollar slot play they give me a week. I do get the comp trip offers to laughlin or Tahoe or tunica. Never been though. I recently stopped giving them all action as im done gambling tables and slots. Im wondering when my offers will cease. Im thinking they'll continue to send me for a couple more months to entice everyone back.. Ill have diamond through next year so hopefully lounges come back sometime. That and no resort fees are the biggest benefits if I ever visit Vegas soon.

Eventually ill have no diamond and I look forward to it. Too much VP and "just a small craps session" has obviously been bad for bankroll. Caesars is a good rewards program. Otherwise I'd have been out earlier.

The prizes total 625k and I think my host said they expect 600 people so if that's true it's a bit nicer than $1000 EV for showing up, plus whatever value you give to rooms/food there. Not bad.

Also in my example above it was Ipad free, Mac Book Air for one tier, and then Mac Book Pro for the second tier. Not super important but it won't let me edit it, so just clarifying here in case anyone is confused why you'd earn 2500 extra TC just to get the same gift.

Hey, you're a much bigger player than me. I basically get nothing free. I get discounts, sometimes big, sometimes not so big. But no freebies other than the anniversary celebration dinner and free shows that every Diamond gets.

Appreciate the post DUCY!

At this point I get tons of free rooms at places other than Caesars, but minimal freeplay. I redeemed my mystery slot play last week, it was $5. My email offers have $20 freeplay with multiple night stays. I also get some menial dining credit offers which seem impossible to redeem.

All I've EVER wanted from that goddamn company is Diamond Lounge access. I am enjoying the Vanderpump cocktails, but its lacking in food! The free rooms are cool, but honestly Id rather just sleep at my house than the Flamingo.

Not exactly. The line that says "Earn one entry for every 77 Tier Credits earned during the earning period" means an uneven distribution of prizes, with a small number of ultra high rollers having the bulk of the virtual raffle tickets.

You still have a shot at winning, of course. On my Tahoe trip where I earned Seven Starts last year, there was a woman who had like 15 virtual tickets or less and got picked as one of twenty five people on the last night of their "Big Pull" Weekend. I also got picked, which was less surprising, as I had about 15,000 drawing tickets. As did many of the others who got picked. My guess was there one or two people there with over 50,000 tickets.

So your EV on the drawing is certainly a lot less than $1000, unless you're planning on being one of the top dozen tier credit earners at a Seven Stars Signature Event. My guess is the only prizes a normal person would have a shot at are the ones that they're selecting 40-50 winners.
