They have done a great job branding their product so far.

The issues I'm speaking of are well known and I would assume are a focus for them. Hotel check-in and housekeeping inconsistency to name a couple. The point being, that DC has some perfectly valid criticisms (though Cosmo can't do anything about the direct access to Aria). The group defense of Cosmo is curious to me. Nothing wrong with acknowledging that they're going through some growing pains still. It's not like management isn't working on it (one would assume). I'm sure you know all this since you seem poised to be working with the Cosmo in some capacity IIRC.

as a side note, wasn't the plan for all/some of the cosmo units to be residential? Is that sill in the stars?

this != "cosmopolitan sucks"...

I dont think the group defense is that the complaints are invalid, its that OP was a gross overreaction to some valid yet trifiling criticisms.

FWIW, i personally thought the OP was ridiculous and perhaps a joke inspired by bikeaccident, but that DC made some valid and well thought out criticisms in the follow-up post.

Yeah, all jokes aside I'd be annoyed too with the experiences you had. For those saying that Cosmo is not the type of luxury hotel that should emphasize top-notch service, I say......wat? Cosmo is the most expensive hotel ever built in Vegas. They obviously consider themselves a luxury hotel, and they should at the very least aspire to have the quality of staff you'd find at a place like Wynn. They may not get there but they shouldn't settle for what they have. I too have experienced the deer in the headlights look of the employees (who, in their defense, want to be helpful but can't always be). Bad training, bad management. Hopefully it works itself out, and I believe it will.

Besides all the nonsense. wynn or the encore is a better hotel.

By fall I suspect Cosmo's cell service will be rocking. For what it's worth, AT&T is really good there, I even get service in the garage.
Correct on the wireless providers lagging on this one. It takes time to put up a DAS system or microcell system for a hotel and a lot of different entities need to come to agreement.

Obviously carrier dependent, but I think you are correct in your assessment that service will be good to go by fall as that is the usual time period for these systems to get fully up to speed.

I was just curious as I have NO IDEA of the issues in question or relationship with cosmo on a personal level.

I have seen some of there superficial branding strategy and some of there in house training emphasis, an it seems well placed and aspiring in the correct direction... at least from their internal perspective. if it is not yet translating to the end user, then they have problems.

the ONE TIME I was in Cosmo I can say that I was not really all that impressed, the property felt claustrophobic and not at all that user friendly, so I really do not have a great base of experience on the property to the point of criticism.

When I hear things like the most expensive hotel ever built, I feel perplexed, because it certainly does not seem they got their monies worth.

As someone else pointed out, it was intended to be a Condo Hotel, not a hotel with a casino. The casino is extremely cramped, and seems like an afterthought, like it would be if there was no intention of having a casino.

So, I think it's kind of erroneous for anyone to say it's the most expensive hotel ever built in Vegas, since it was supposed to basically be condos.

It was designed to be a condo/hotel hybrid, with a casino. Now it's just a hotel with a casino. Spending $4 billion on a condo complex would be even more insane than spending it on a hotel/casino (which they did).

IMO, there should be a new drink

1 oz grape vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice

and it should be called the desert cosmo

I think it's pretty insane that they basically built it on an island. It's sad that it was intended to have a casino, because it sure doesn't look like it was designed for it. The casino floors are so small and cramped.

On wikipedia, it says that it was originally planned to have 150,000 sq. feet of casino space. They ended up with 75,000 sq. feet. That must be why it seems cramped.

I don't know anything about hotel or condo-hotel finance, so how much would each unit, based on the wikipedia info of 2200 condo-hotel units, and 800 hotel units, need to be sold for to make the 4 billion worthwhile? This project started right at the height of the Las Vegas condo boom, so I'm sure their projections for sales were wildly optimistic.

Are condo-hotel units cheaper, or more expensive than just condo units?
