He closed every casino in Nevada and every gaming device in the state including bars and convenient stores and grocery stores. Why couldn't he shut down any business that was non essential? Governors everywhere have been doing it. Under national emergency like these conditions that will stop the spread.

I am wondering if local jurisdiction supersedes state laws/orders. For example, in Nevada brothels are legal except in a couple counties that outlaw them.

Now if the Mayor of LV wants to open businesses earlier, can she get the city counsel to pass an ordnance overriding the Gov?

That's what his proclamation did attempt to do.

On the news just now, they used the words "Ordered" by also later said "Should" when referring to telling non essential businesses to shut down.

There are several still open, one on the news with 250 people in a tight call center. News said Gov didn't say if there would be enforcement or not.

It doesn't really work that way for brothels. The state law outlaws brothels in any county with over 700,000 people. Those counties cannot allow brothels even if they want to. It does have a provision that cities within the lower population counties may make brothels illegal if they decide to though.

Does the governor have the power to close places down? In many states they're still suggestions or guidelines, not orders.
The Gaming regulator agreed with the Governor, so that industry had to comply.

Any power outside such regulated industries can probsbly lie in health and welfare powers of the State. There is a line of Supreme Court cases mostly about State abuse of that intrastate power arising in attempts to regulate interstate commerce, something reserved for the federal government not state.

CET canceled my April Bally's reservation. Saved me the trouble, but surprised me a bit.

MGM Resorts tells Las Vegas shows be ready for mid-May return

"That assessment might be rosier than the flowers tossed around by the cast of “Love.” It no way detracts from the gravity of the health concerns generated by the coronavirus outbreak, but it at least shows a Las Vegas resort company’s tentative plan to return to business.

Producer Anita Mann said Wednesday night she has been directed to have the adult revue “Fantasy” at Luxor ready by May 11. Adam Steck of SPI Entertainment confirmed Wednesday night he should have his shows prepared to return May 12. Carrot Top and Blue Man Group at Luxor are slated to return in May, too."

"“May 11 is great for us. It gives us time to have an understanding of a better way to function,” Mann said Wednesday, noting that her show will have been off-stage for eight weeks if it does return May 11. “It’s showing a lot of optimism, sure, but I like using a sentence with ‘optimism’ in it.”

Cirque do Soleil, too, is putting tickets for its MGM Resorts shows back on sale May 11. That covers “O” at Bellagio, “Michael Jackson One” at Mandalay Bay, “Ka” at MGM Grand, “Love” at Mirage and “Zumanity” at New York-New York. The SPI Entertainment shows in play are Hans Klok, Thunder from Down Under and Australian Bee Gees at Excalibur. Shin Lim at Mirage will be taking ticket orders beginning May 14."

Has anyone been out grocery shopping lately?

I went to smiths maybe like a week ago and could already see that it was crazy compared to usual with more idiots than usual. Running low on stuff but also dont want to be walking into a zombie apocalypse type scene, anyone gone recently?

I went to Albertsons on Blue Diamond and Buffalo last night and they had a good supply of meats and veggies (fresh). But the canned goods and dry goods were mostly sold out. Good luck!

Stopped at Smith's this morning. Not terribly crowded and folks were pretty calm.

Canned goods were pretty sold out. However, fresh produce and dairy were instock and frozen goods were available.

Some items were limited to 3 or 4 per person, not sure which as I did not buy that much stuff.

Keep in mind, Smith's is actually hiring additional employees to do re-stocking.

I went to Walmart 6am Monday right when they opened Rainbow+215, about 150-200 people already outside waiting for the doors to open. They had meat and some water left but was out of everything else. People were running everywhere. Absolute chaos.

I did go to smiths earlier, half out of boredom have out of we needed a few things. They pretty much had everything in stock, only things that were sold out were eggs and somehow their almond milk. Ha i was so surprised at that i got distracted and didnt even get a regular milk instead which they had a decent amount of. I would of thought for sure it would be the other way around, but overall everything was much calmer than when i was there like a week ago. Pretty sure location of last weeks compared to today played into the added craziness. The one thing that did stand out for sure was just how many people were out driving, walking, just out and about. Like where are these people going lol? Is there some secret underground bar i dont know about??? I want in

Almond milk last a lot longer for hoarding and better for smoothies.

I’ve tried oat milk for the same reasons and it’s great. Tastes like the real thing to me.

According to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ Nevada is up to 161 cases (+52 on the day). We're #19 in cases but #32 in total population in the USA so we've got a few more cases than our fair share. Or maybe not since New York is really throwing everything off with their 8400+ total.
