Surprised this doesn’t have its own thread but I was wondering how the news of the Coronavirus has affected things in Vegas?

I’m seeing really cheap flights and was thinking of coming down in May but was worried it’d be a bit of a ghost town.

Are numbers noticeably down?

Curious the current climate as well; I am headed out for a bachelor party this Thurs.

My bookie was at Wynn over the weekend and said it was a ghost town. Cant really trust him though.

Anyone have any live strip updates? Our room rates dropped significantly.

Didn't think anything of it at the time, but noticed there were zero players in high limit at Red Rock Saturday night. Not sure if this is normal for them, as I don't go there much, just thought it was odd.

I haven't noticed a big difference at other places yet, but it's hard to believe we won't get hit hard due to a) tons of tourists b) tons of Chinese and c) people here are animals in general (e.g. today I go to the far corner of my deserted gym, guy comes in, gets on the machine right next to me, and promptly starts coughing. Thanks *******)

Will you trust the strippers or hookers ?

Vegas for sure slowing down. Went to chinatown thursday night to a popular kbbq joint, including us there were only 3 active tables when its usually packed. Poker action is decent but there seem to be less players playing and the games dont seems to last as long (5/5 plo broke last night at midnight when it almost always runs through sunday nights into the a.m.)

Also walmart and costcos constantly low/out of waters non perishables. I use to think cancelling wsop was a joke but now im leaning on the side that its likely to be cancelled.

One bonus for flights beyond massive discounts is that there are many reports that half the seats are empty. I flew from Las Vegas to Knoxville Thursday and Atlanta to Las Vegas on Sunday and that was my experience, too. I'm going to check out the Strip this week and see how it is going.

I imagine regular poker pros are still going to be grinding it out - much like a job it’s hard to “take time off”, but it’s the tourists that’ll stop coming.

Poker chips are filthy. I cannot imagine any game more conducive to spreading a virus than poker.

I’m optimistic by May things will be back to normal but it sounds like things will get worse before they get better.

Would love to hear if crowded spots like the Bacchanal Buffet are easy to walk into or still long lines?

Aria was noticeably slower last week than usual. 2 2/5 games during the week most nights, 4 games on Friday/Saturday, when there would normally be 3-5 games weeknights and 6-7 on weekends

Just skip them, for everyone else's sake if not your own.

You can likely get food delivered to you at your poker table or room.

According to reporting I consulted re "Buffets in the Time of CoVid", I would expect buffet lines to be shrunken drastically or even closed down.

You would even consider eating at a buffet ? I'd think the prospect of several hundred different people looming over , perhaps some sneezing on the various offerings or handling common utemsils would put you off that experience in a coronavirus Vegas Experience.

Someone has to be a hard-core chazzer to consider doing so blindly. Buffets have been banned in Scotland for this reason. Hotels in Singapore have shifted to set menus offering buffet items at your table.

I had the Bellagio dinner buffet back in January and got a mild food poisoning. And that one should be one of the best out there. Luckily it was free, but never doing the mistake to go to any buffet in Vegas, ever again.

Far be it from me to be the voice of reason, but isn't the period between (roughly) CES/AVN and March Madness generally pretty slow, usually?

Room prices absolutely tanked for this week and next week

On Caesars website rooms that we're going for 300 dollars plus a week ago are not showing 20-50 a night this week

I am fairly convinced I've had the Virus... but it's been about two weeks and symptoms have begun to subside and all I have left is the ragging headaches. despite the local new stating the first 'presumptive' patient was only a few days ago, there was a buried story about 2-1/2 weeks ago about a couple patients being isolated at 'a local hospital'. That hospital was UMC... was was at UMC quite a few times since before and since that story broke.

Mild Flu symptoms... check
VERY difficult breathing/catching my breath... check
mild temperature... check
dry cough... check

Ive also had some weird headrush/vertigo feeling every now and again on a daily basis... check.

Decided to play on wsop.com... check

I probably wont get tested... it really wasn't that bad (if I did actually have it), it's mainly the feeling of a lack of Oxygen and breathing difficulties.

I don't even want to order deli meat at the grocery store now, anything that people could be coughing on or handling that I would eat. I wouldn't even go to a store if possible anyway. Even before this I have groceries delivered for a long time now and order anything else from Amazon and Walmart.

Don't you think it's equally risky being at a poker table , handling chips ?

I wonder if I can still shuffle chips wearing one of those pink latex gloves
